SPOT PLAY - HALF A VIRGIN (4th)
Race 1 - F&M NW5000L5/12500CLM Pace
(4) ROCKNROLL ANNIE gets to drop after a fifth-place finish against NW10000L5's most recently, and she probably needed that start too after being idle for a month. (1) VINTAGE BABE has just one win in her last 37 starts, but she's been a good second in her last two and has the pole position this time. (3) BETTERTHANBRIE improved significantly in her second start off the layoff and with the class relief into the optional $12,500 claimers. She entered for the tag again and gets a pilot change to Scott Zeron tonight.
Race 2 - F&M NW5000L5/12500CLM Pace
(6) LINCOLN'S GIRL N lands in an interesting spot here, moving out of NW6's at Pocono. She never got involved from an outside post last time but showed speed and just weakened late on June 28. She was Bartlett's choice. (3) TELLAWOMAN defeated NW10000L5's on 6-23, so this seems like a very easy spot if she's anywhere's close to that good tonight. (4) GIRL'S GOT RHYTHM slides down from the NW10000L5 level where she was third on July 23 and draws better, moving in from post seven to post four.
Race 3 - F&M NW10000L5/Winner in Last Start of the Base Class NW5000L5/20000CLM Pace
(6) AZREAL AS IT GETS manages to get away from the likes of Kendra N and Blackwell Ruby IR tonight, which I think should help her be more competitive. It does appear as if she'll need some pace to chase given her preferred racing style, so hopefully she gets it. (1) ROSE RUN TONI was incredibly tough and game in that win on 7-23, overcoming an extended period on the outside to defeat a heavy favorite. She looks like a contender again tonight. (4) OUR MISS REESE hasn't shown much for DiDomenico yet, but both of those races were from post seven, so she does get some post relief.
Race 4 - F&M NW10000L5/Winner in Last Start of the Base Class NW5000L5/20000CLM Pace
(3) HALF A VIRGIN had to step up to the NW17500L5 class most recently but gets a drop here to NW10000L5's. She was a good second the last time she appeared at this level, just falling a nose short of the win. (5) BRONZE OVER N started from post eight last time at Harrah's Philly and had to do the hard work from first-over. The draw was much kinder to her as she returns to Yonkers, and I could see Brennan gunning out. (1) CLASSY CHAPEL N closed well off an inside trip to finish third on the 23rd of July and retains the pole position. Brian Sears takes over the driving.
Race 5 - F&M NW25000L5/3&4YO NW10/40000CLM Pace
(2) IMPRINCESSGEMMA N retreats out of the Open level this week after rallying for fourth from post eight. She looks pretty imposing as she also has a much better draw. (3) LISPATTY also exits the Open after a third-place effort and she had two seconds aand a third in this class prior to that one Open appearance. (1) I'M VERY SPECIAL returns to overnight competition after a dominant, post eight win in that series final. I didn't think she was out of her element when competing against the NW25000L5's on 7-16 and finally has an inside post.
Race 6 - NW10000L5/Winner in Last Start of the Base Class NW5000L5/20000CLM Pace
(2) RUNRUNJIMMYDUNN N tumbles down to tackle NW10000L5's after racing against better at the Meadowlands, Pocono, and Yonkers since racing resumed. He made it up to the Open level before the shutdown and was Jordan Stratton's pick of two horses. (3) MARK WITHA K improved on 7-24 when moved back to Yonkers, rallying to finish second at long odds. He won't have the same kind of value tonight, but I'll use underneath. (5) KINNDER JACKSON was second against NW20000L5's locally back in February and comes off a win in the NW9000L5 at Pocono. He does have a barn change, going from Ron Burke to Jake Huff.
Race 7 - NW17500L5/30000CLM Pace
(5) WARDAN EXPRESS A raced off-the-pace from post eight on July 17 and gained to finish fifth. He switches drivers back to Joe Bongiorno tonight and gets some post relief, so I'll hope for an aggressive drive like he got two back where he won with Joe in the bike. (1) ANTHEM N moves inside from post six to the pole position. He's switched things up and gone forward in this class before when drawn well, so maybe that'll be the plan tonight. (7) WAR DAN DELIGHT N has finished second in four straight races, including against NW17500L5's on the 21st of July. He does have a negative post change tonight, moving out from the four-hole to post seven.
Race 8 - NW17500L5/30000CLM Pace
(3) SPORTS BETTOR meant business in his last start on July 17, going all the way on the lead to an easy win. He remains in the same class this time, and while he does lose Bartlett, I don't mind Scott Zeron taking over and will use. (5) MCARDLES LIGHTNING hikes back up to meet NW17500L5's after inheriting a win on 7-17 via placing. He was second at this level on the 25th of June, so I don't think this is too bad a spot for him. (2) BABES DIG ME kept Bartlett's services and had three straight seconds against similar back in February.
Race 9 - NW10000L5/Winner in Last Start of the Base Class NW5000L5/20000CLM Pace
(2) SPEED MAN N dips down from the NW17500L5 class after finishing a gaining third. Brian Sears is back in the bike again and he draws inside. (3) KNOCKING AROUND also drops out of NW17500L5's and also draws much better this time. His lone win of 2020 came against NW10000L5's back in February. (1) DREAM OF LUCK moves up from the NW5000L5 group after a facile win. He offsets the class hike by drawing the pole and by keeping Bartlett.
