MEET STATS: 101 - 400 / $628.00 (-$172.00) BEST BETS: 19 - 40 / $74.80 (-$5.20) SPOT PLAYS: 3 - 40 / $18.20 (-$61.80) BEST BET - SIESTA BEACH (12th) SPOT PLAY - ISLAY N (1st) Race 1 - F&M NW5000L5/12500CLM Pace (5) ISLAY N drew in off the also-eligible list when another one scratched out. She drops and gets a little post relief tonight, and she won in the corresponding class to this one at Harrah's Philadelphia on June 9. (1) FEAR MY SHADOW got the job done at this level last Thursday and has the pole position again this time. (4) CHECKERED PAST was the runner-up to Fear My Shadow a week ago in a much-improved effort. She stays in against NW5000L5's, and I'll include. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2 - 3YO Maiden Trot (4) EYES OF JUSTICE races for a high-percentage trainer in Amanda Kelley and has been closer to winning lately than the rest of these. He does need a much better trip than he had a week ago. (2) THE PAPA BEAR probably comes out of the best races, and the connections thought enough of him to put him in the Indiana Sires Stakes as a 2-year-old. He also gets a much better post than the nine-hole he had last time at Pocono. (8) YUCATAN PARTY MAN has the worst post but has been able to hit the board in 10 of his 16 career tries, so he does have a knack for getting on the ticket. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3 - NW2/28500LT Trot (3) DUKE OF LINDY came in second to a horse who is in the Yonkers Trot eliminations two back and then had to race NW4's last Thursday. He returns to the NW2 level here, and I'll give him a shot. (2) PIVOTAL was handled pretty conservatively a week ago but did finish well in the final quarter. He doesn't face maidens this time, but I don't think that's a big change for a horse that's already met NW3's at Harrah's Philadelphia. (6) SOUTHWIND RITZ invades from Pocono, where she's finished second two straight times against NW2's. Race 4 - F&M NW7500L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW5000L5/15000CLM Pace (5) ANGEL'S PRIDE isn't quite as reliable as she used to be, but she catches a field here I think she can handle with a good effort. (1) ASHTINI returns to Yonkers after finishing third down at Harrah's Phialdelphia. She gets the pole position and should be on or near the lead. (4) ZOE ELLASEN was favored against bottom level foes last week but had to settle for third after suffering interference. I'll include underneath since the tandem of driver Brent Holland and trainer Paul Stafford are having some success. Race 5 - NW4/50000LT Trot (1) CAVALIER GEORGE beat a group of NW4's pretty handily last week, and he gets another chance at the level tonight as he hasn't earned $50,000 lifetime yet. (3) ROYSON'S PUNCH got rolling late to finish third in the same race my top pick exits. He showed more early speed two back at Vernon, so that gives driver Scott Zeron something to use if he wants. (2) CHAPOLIER has hit the board in three of his last four and looks usable. Race 6 - F&M NW10000L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW7500L5/20000CLM Pace (3) DEMETER N slides down a level and moves way inside on the gate. Those are both positive factors, and I look for her to get the job done. (2) CASIE'S BELIEVER dropped to the NW7500L5 class a week ago and won in game fashion. She didn't have much of a chance the last time she met NW10000L5's as she had an outside draw, but she's got post two here, and that should make a difference. (5) MALNIFICENT hasn't been this low on the class ladder since back in early April, and I'll put in my top three in the hopes she can put up a better effort tongiht. Race 7 - F&M Open Handicap Pace (3) GIA'S SURREAL rallied from last to third in the final quarter a week ago and gets a much better post than she had in that edition of the Open. (5) SURREAL FEELING has won three straight between here and Saratoga, including a victory in the Open over my top pick on 5-27. (6) FEELIN RED HOT usually needs the lead for her best, but that wasn't the case last Thursday as she won from first-over. She is very sharp right now and owns plenty of early speed to overcome this draw. Race 8 - F&M NW10000L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW7500L5/20000CLM Pace (6) GOLDEN QUEST N has her best chance to get rid of the zero in her win column so far this year as she gets some additional class relief and reunited with Jason Bartlett. (4) ANN HILL made one appearance at the NW15000L5 level and now retreats back to the NW10000L5's, where she won on 6-10. (1) IRON MISTRESS was second the last time she appeared in this class and got the nod from Dan Dube over Ann Hill. Race 9 - F&M NW15000L5/Winner in Last Start of the Base Class NW10000L5/25000/NW9 Pace (1) CLASSY CHAPEL N aimed pretty high off the claim by trainer Ron Burke, racing in the Preferred a week ago, but she performed well, coming in third. I think this is a more reasonable spot, and I'll put her on top. (2) BRONZE OVER N lost George Brennan to my top pick, but she gets a good replacement in Bartlett and has finished third in her last two tries in this class. (4) SHEIKH YABOOTY N is moving up from the NW10000L5's, but she was good in both starts here since coming up from Harrah's Philadelphia and moves inside from the eight-hole. Race 10 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM/NW10 Pace (1) MONICA GALLAGHER made the final of the Blue Chip Matchmaker Series at Yonkers earlier this year, has a trainer change to Travis Alexander tonight, and picks up the services of leading driver Jordan Stratton. (2) IMPRINCESSGEMMA A broke in her first try for new connections but rebounded with a hard-fought first-over win a week ago. She does move up in class, but just missed by a nose against NW20000L5's on 5-13, so I don't think that's a big issue. (4) PONDER THE ODDS meets up with what looks like a softer group at this level than she's faced in her last three, and I think she could hit the ticket. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 11 - NW6/75000LT / NW8 Draw Outside Trot (7) HAYEK invades from Harrah's Philadelphia tonight. He recently joined the barn of trainer Per Engblom and posted two on-the-board finishes against some tough customers for him. I'll hope he likes coming back to Yonkers to face this group tonight. (5) SWISS HOUSE ONFIRE has been pretty sharp since coming back off the shelf and won over NW4's on the front-end a week ago. (1) BLUFFINNER came to a walk in the stretch in that race at the Meadowlands last Friday, but maybe he's just not a mile track horse. He's certainly shown an affinity for the Yonkers oval this year and returns to it here. Race 12 - F&M NW30000L5 Pace (5) SIESTA BEACH should be all systems go tonight as she exits the Open, draws a mid-pack post, and makes her third start back off the bench. (3) YS TALLIA picked up a fourth-place check in the Open a week ago and has been sharp since returning to racing action for these high-percentage connections. (1) LOVELY DONNA led in the Open last Thursday but got worn down by eventual winner Feelin Red Hot and had to settle for fifth. She gets to drop a notch here and has the pole position to help her chances.
