Yonkers Analysis: Thursday 1/19/12

Brewster Smith|Jan 19, 2012

(MEET STATS: 7 - 24 / $71.80)

Best Bet: NATURAL WOMAN N (5th) Spot Play: POP ARTIST (3rd)

Race 1

(1) HALLY drops in class and draws the fence for tonight's opener. She clearly has the early zip to take this group down the road. (4) GOLDEN OPT raced evenly in her last try. Contender in here. (2) P H DREAMER She has wheeled off two straight victories at this level. Beware.

Race 2

(2) CC MISTER C Eight-year-old trotter broke in the stretch drive with a two length lead. If the gelding could stay on gait, he should boss these at best. (5) BERKSHIRE Should fare well with his return to Yonkers. (7) BAY LIGHTNING Florida invader could make some noise with Bartlett at the helm.

Race 3

(1) POP ARTIST Four-year-old mare has good speed. Picks up Bartlett and has the rail slot. That makes her dangerous in this event. (2) STYX DELIGHT N She has good late punch to contend with these. (3) DELIGHTFUL SYD The move to post three can help her chances.

Race 4

(5) HOLLY HILL MASTER Gelding should appreciate the class relief. Last two starts indicates he is knocking at the door and has every right to beat these trotters at his best. (2) EDIT Canadian invader has good speed and is on the dropdown. Big threat. (4) FLASHY LADY Trotting mare showed signs of life in her previous outting. Watch out.

Race 5

(8) NATURAL WOMAN N Eleven-year-old miss is very fast and the eight slot should not be a problem given she's facing a weak group tonight. Gets the call. (3) RAIDERS FAVORITE Has not won in a long time but she can be right in the mix. (5) LA DIAVLA Chester shipper can have a say with these.

Race 6

(1) IMA SPUR Trotter has been sharp in his last two trips to the post. Moves to the one hole and he has the right stuff to boss this bunch at his best. (4) BET IT ALL Game effort in his last try. Main danger. (5) YOURE NEXT is better than his flop at Monti last time out. Watch out.

Race 7

(1) SO CONFUSING She has gotten the job done in her last two starts. Pacing mare has the rail and Brennan gets the call. Can take these to task despite the escalation in class. (2) DREAMS BAR This gal is moving down the ladder and that makes her a solid threat in here. (6) MAKE A BUNDLE N has tactical speed to contend with these.

Race 8

(4) WATERLOO WILLIE Gelding was facing tougher last time around. The good news is he will get class relief. He can pounce and score with a perfect trip. (3) FOUNTAINBLEAU VOLO Broke at the quarter pole against open foes. The main danger in here. (2) WHATNBLAZES should do much better with his return to the Hilltop.

Race 9

(3) BAMBINAS SORELLA Sharp nine-year-old miss just held on for the victory in her last start. Two in a row is not out of the cards. Another nine-year-old mare (4) DOINIT DRAGONSTYLE been in the exacta picture in her last four tries. Big threat. (1) ALLSWELTHATENDSWEL Pennsylvania invader draws the fence and has every right to contend with this group.

Race 10

(2) MIDNIGHT GAMBOL Six-year-old pacer is very sharp and Brennan stays aboard. Gelding can make tonight a winning one. (5) DRAGON AHS Chester invader fits well in here. Main danger. (6) SWINGINGWITHASHARK Eleven-year-old has been knocking at the door based on his last two trips. Watch out.

Race 11

(3) CHANCEY HALL closed well and just missed the victory last time out. Trotting gelding gets another chance at this level to get the job done with the Cat-Man at the controls. (2) BENNS SURE THING moves down the scale for this event and draws post two. Major player. Trainer Ron Burke pushes the down button on (4) A LISTER and calls on Brennan to drive. Not out of this by far.

Race 12

(6) SENTBYTHEANGELS Very sharp eleven-year-old mare got the job done in her first start for team Pena. She is capable of taking this group to task for her second score in a row. (5) COLLAGE was placed first via the DQ at Chester. Threat in here. (2) CARNIVALOCITY Pacing mare has speed to be right in the mix.
