FINAL 2020 MEET STATS: 219 - 696 / $1,358.10 (-$33.90) BEST BETS: 39 - 72 / $134.20 (-$5.80) SPOT PLAYS: 14 - 72 / $105.10 (-$38.90) BEST BET-ALEXA SKYE (7th) SPOT PLAY-ANNABETH (8th) Race 1 - F&M NW5000L5/12500CLM Pace (6) GOTTALOVEMYSHADOW raced well twice at the Meadowlands and then got a check in the Open at Freehold on 12-26. I think this is a winnable spot and will go with her. She also got the nod from Jordan Stratton over another one in here. (2) SHECOULDBEGOOD N just missed by a nose against NW7500L5's at Yonkers back on the 24th of November and lands at the bottom level tonight. (1) ROCKNROLL ANNIE scored a local victory over NW10000L5's on October 29 and has been facing better since. She gets Jason Bartlett and the pole position to aid her chances. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2 - NW7/80000LT Trot (6) CONTEXT returns to Yonkers with four straight wins since shipping east back in November and lured Bartlett off an Andrew Harris trainee in this race, something that rarely happens. (4) GRINDER never got involved against some stout competition at the Meadowlands in his 2021 debut, but raced well at Yonkers against NW6's in November and December, and I think is capable of rebounding. (1) HAYEK had a good enough season a year ago to make the Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final and took a quick mark over the half-mile track at Grand River Raceway. He joins the Bongiorno barn tonight. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3 - NW3/25000LT Trot (5) CATWALK AS was competitive against NW4's when at Yonkers last fall and had a solid 3-year-old campaign overall, winning five times. (8) BEERTHIRTY K draws another outside post, but he did overcome the eight-hole to defeat NW2's here in August of 2020, and I don't mind Scott Zeron picking up the drive. (6) FATHER FIGURE went a long, uncovered trip in his debut for Larry Stalbaum on the 3rd of December and held well for third at long odds. I'll include in the hopes of something similar tonight. Race 4 - F&M NW5000L5/12500CLM Pace (5) ROSE RUN TONI didn't show much in her two tries for the Bongiornos over at the Meadowlands, but I think this is her preferred venue, and I'll give her a chance as she slides down to the NW5000L5 class. (2) DANCE CLUB finally gets an inside post, but her last three lines don't look very good for a horse who is sure to get bet strongly, and I'll take a shot against. (7) BEST AMERICAN CHIC was able to take the lead in the stretch from first-over at the Meadowlands on 1-2 before giving way. I think that was a solid effort, and she was in against NW7500L5's when last at Yonkers in December. Race 5 - NW4/50000LT Trot (3) HUNTING AS finished a gaining second against NW5's last time out at Harrah's Philadelphia and switches pilots from trainer Jenny Melander to the red-hot Todd McCarthy. (7) FATHER DUNN has been sharp for a while, finishing first or second in his last five appearances, and dominated a group of NW2's when last at Yonkers on the 10th of December. (1) BANZAI AS owns a win over the oval back in early November and was second and third against NW4's two and three starts back at the Meadowlands. Race 6 - F&M NW7500L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW5000L5/15000CLM Pace (5) BALFAST N found her form at Monticello in December with three straight wins, and when racing in Canada last year, she was able to beat NW10000L5's once at Woodbine Mohawk Park in June. (3) SALLY FLETCHER A cruised to a facile victory in this class on 12-10 and backed up with a good fourth-place performance from post eight at Harrah's Philadelphia in a subsequent start. (8) LEMON ZEST continues to suffer the bad post blues, but she did close from eighth to fourth and sixth to second in two efforts against NW6's at Yonkers in December, so I'll toss on her on the ticket. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 7 - F&M Open Handicap Pace (3) ALEXA SKYE got on a tear at the Meadowlands in December and carried it over to Freehold, rallying from last to first in two editions of their Open. She gets reunited with Todd McCarthy tonight from an inside post, and I'll put on top. (5) BETTORS HEART N scored in an Open at Yonkers on the 10th of December and was second from first-over at Dover to kick off her 2020 campaign. Bartlett gets the live drive wih Dexter Dunn not here. (4) SEASWIFT JOY N finished up her mile very nicely at the Meadowlands on 1-2, and she may have needed that race given she hadn't started since the 28th of November. She is Andrew McCarthy's lone drive on the card, perhaps signaling she'll be live. Race 8 - F&M NW10000L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW7500L5/20000CLM Pace (2) ANNABETH moves inside after having post eight in her last try of 2020 and picks up Jason Bartlett. She's won in this class before, and I think merits a chance. (3) BETALADY has been off since 12-4, but she raced well for trainer Bruce Saunders in both opportunities at the Meadowlands, including a third-place effort behind Alexa Skye. (4) ANN HILL retained Dan Dube over another mare in this race, and while not always consistent, she is capable of hitting the board, like she did two back at this level. Race 9 - F&M NW16750L5/Winner in Last Start of the Base Class NW10000L5/25000CLM Pace (2) LISPATTY exits the Open and Preferred as she squeezes into this class this time. She should find these types more hospitable. (3) MONICA GALLAGHER won two straight at Yonkers to close out her 6-year-old season and adds Bartlett tonight. (1) BYE BYE FELICIA invades with top-three finishes in each of her last six tries, and she was a good second to Alexa Skye in the Preferred at Freehold on New Year's Day. Race 10 - F&M NW15000L5/Winner in Last Start of the Base Class NW10000L5/25000CLM Pace (4) I'M VERY SPECIAL endured a tough trip in her last try at Freehold, but she had been racing very well before that, and I will look for her to return to that kind of performance here. (3) IMPRINCESSGEMMA A lands in a more reasonable spot for her chances tonight after appearing in the Open/Preferred at Dover on 1-6. (1) TIPP CITY might need a class drop before she becomes more of a win threat, but Zeron and trainer Travis Alexander had a couple of winners together on Monday night, and she gets to move back to the pole position.
