Yonkers: Analysis for Thursday 11/19

Greg Reinhart|Nov 17, 2020
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 198 - 616 / $1,207.20 (-$24.80)
BEST BETS: 35 - 64 / $125.30 (-$2.70)
SPOT PLAYS: 10 - 64 / $76.70 (-$51.30)
BEST BET-BUXTON (9th)
SPOT PLAY-CORAL BELLA (7th)

Race 1 - F&M NW5000L5/12500CLM Pace

(8) AMANDEROSA kept Marohn Jr.'s services, even though she starts from post eight, and she did show sharp early speed in a win at Harrah's Philadelphia in late September. Not many of these show being able to leave, so maybe Jimmy can blast her and make front. (2) WINDMEUPNWATCHMEGO was second-best to a well-meant Norman's Madeline last Thursday and hit the board against better at the Meadowlands three back. (1) QUEEN JOSEPHINE is winless in 2020 but does have an improved post this week and should be closer to the front.

Race 2 - NW2/25000LT Trot

(8) ITSONLYMONEYHONEY invades from the Midwest for trainer Rob Harmon here. This horse has plenty of half-mile experience given he was the 3-year-old colt trot champion in Iowa and his races at Hoosier after that were all good. (3) JIVE NINETY FIVE adds trotting hobbles tonight and did show good speed here at Yonkers two back before tiring in the final quarter. (5) CONTEXT is another shipper for trainer Anette Lorentzon. She raced well against similar at Hollywood Dayton most recently.

Race 3 - F&M NW7500L5/Winner in Last Start of the Base Class NW5000L5/15000CLM Pace

(4) MADAME LEZA A returns here after being on the shelf since 9-30. Her qualifier at Freehold was solid, and she catches a pretty wide-open group tonight. (5) COVEREDNDIAMONDS N closed well to finish third in this class on the fifth of November and has been competitive in all her recent efforts at this level. (2) DIAMONDTOOTHGERTIE was Holland's choice in this race as she continues to move down in class.

Race 4 - NW6/75000LT Trot

(5) AFTER ALL PAUL finished with some interest last week in his second attempt for Hudson. I think that was a better group that the one he meets up with tonight, and I'll give him a chance. (3) SKY CASTLES cruised through easy fractions and won in facile fashion on 11-5. He's certainly capable of doubling up here. (7) GRINDER was third in the same race my top pick comes out of last Thursday, and he is in good form, having finished first or third in his last four appearances.

Race 5 - F&M NW10000L5/Winner in Last Start of the Base Class NW7500L5/20000CLM Pace

(1) TIPP CITY gets both post and class relief tonight, and she gets a driver change to Matt Kakaley. (7) ANN HILL was able to finish second a couple of times against NW15000L5's in recent weeks, and the last time she appeared at this level, she scored an easy win. (4) ROSE RUN TONI had plenty of pace on the end of the mile last Thursday, closing to finish second to the classy Angel's Pride. She moves in from post seven to post four here.

Race 6 - NW4/50000LT Trot

(7) ST MARTINS won impressively over NW2's at Yonkers on 7-30, then broke in his next appearance as an odds-on choice. He was given some time off, qualified well at the Meadowlands, and is now in the Bongiorno barn. I think he's worth a shot. (3) KANDY SWEET broke stride last Thursday, but her prior starts for Devita were all good, and she gets reunited with Stratton tonight. (6) KING ALPHONSO hasn't raced in an overnight event since early August at Harrah's Philadelphia when he trounced a group of NW3's. He's probably the one to beat.

Race 7 - F&M NW10000L5/Winner in Last Start of the Base Class NW7500L5/20000CLM Pace

(7) CORAL BELLA is another one I'll use for the Kakaley/Alexander tandem. She has been racing well, with a third, a win, and a second in her last three, and has been showing plenty of early speed to overcome outside draws. (2) BETTERB CHEVRON N turned a corner with that win on 10-8 and has been sharp since. She gets post relief tonight after starting from post six in her most recent effort. (4) ROCKN PHILLY was in the Preferred when last seen at Yonkers in September, but her subsequent half-mile track races at Harrington were nothing to write home about. She was Stratton's pick, but I'll swing against.

Race 8 - F&M NW15000L5/Winner in Last Start of the Base Class NW10000L5/25000CLM Pace

(5) FIRSTUP drops after finishing third in the Preferred last Thursday, and though rejected by Marohn Jr., she gets a good replacement in Scott Zeron. (2) ROBYN CAMDEN was Marohn Jr.'s choice and gets to race against NW15000L5's again tonight after winning at this level a week ago. (6) FEELIN RED HOT just missed by a nose in a solid performance last week, and I would expect Brennan to utilize her speed to get on the lead or in the pocket.

Race 9 - NW8/100000LT Trot

(7) BUXTON improved to two-for-two in the Lachance barn with an impressive first-over win last Thursday. He does move up from the NW6's to the NW8's, but I actually think this might be an easier group. (2) FULL RIGHTS enters off a solid second-place finish a week ago, and this horse usually finds his way into the mix. (3) KASHA V rallied from sixth to third in the final quarter in the same race that Full Rights exits and moves inside on the gate tonight.

Race 10 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM Pace

(4) PAMMY JO closed strongly to finish second to Robyn Camden a week ago, and though she does move up a level tonight, I'll hope she gets some pace to chase and can kick home like that again. (3) SEASWIFT JOY N blasted to the point from post eight back on 11-5 and couldn't be caught. She has a much better starting spot tonight and remains in the same class. (1) MACZAFFAIR N was the favorite in that event won by Seaswift Joy N, but she retreated after having to come first-over. She won on the lead and was victorious in her two starts prior to that, so Stratton might be very keen to have her on the engine tonight.
