Yonkers: Analysis for Thursday 10/14

Greg Reinhart|Oct 12, 2021
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 222 - 753 / $1,253.30 (-$252.70)

BEST BETS: 38 - 70 / $126.50 (-$13.50)

SPOT PLAYS: 7 - 70 / $48.10 (-$91.90)

BEST BET-SCUOLA HANOVER (11th)

SPOT PLAY-DC ANNA (8th)

Race 1 - F&M NW5000L5/12500CLM Pace

(3) THE CHARGING MOA N has been very win shy this year but takes a second shot against NW5000L5 foes from a much better post than the eight-hole she had on 9-30. (4) FOLLOW YOUR NOSE gets a big drop out of the NW6 class tonight and gets to move inside on the gate. (6) DIBABA N took the bulk of the wagering action again on September 30 but had to settle for third. She was coming into that event off a break, so maybe she can be more aggressive here with the clean line to work off of.

Race 2 - 3YO NW1/15300LT Trot

(7) SEARCHING FOR YOU was an 11-time winner in Iowa and now comes east into the Peter Pellegrino barn. He didn't draw very well, but I'll take his ability to find victory lane. (8) OPERATION SHIPLEY made her debut last Thursday from Iowa and finished second in this class. I can't see them taking back, even from the outside. (3) JESSIES OUTLAWED showed some late interest in finishing third on 9-30. That was his first start over the track after shipping in from Indiana, so he could flash some improvement.

Race 3 - F&M NW7500L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW5000L5/15000CLM Pace

(4) EDGE OF ETERNITY makes her second start for trainer Nick Devita tonight and gets to slide down from the NW10000L5 class. (2) MALNIFICENT just missed by a nose against NW10000L5's a week ago and gets some additional class relief here. (3) ISLAY N won two of her last three against optional $12,500 claimers and steps up a notch tonight. She does move inside on the gate and is sharp, so I'll include.

Race 4 - NW2/25000LT Trot

(2) FUNKY BISCUIT gained spots and ground last Thursday from post seven. He gets some post relief tonight, and although he does step up from the NW1 level, he showed the ability to win versus NW2's at The Meadows on 9-2. (1) INFINITE ZETTE has hit the board in five of her last seven starts and got another inside draw. (8) SQUABLE returns to overnight action after picking up checks in all of his stakes tries down at Freehold.

Race 5 - F&M NW10000L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW7500L5/20000CLM Pace

I'm going to give (1) BYE BYE MICHELLE another shot this week as she moves to the pole position after having outside posts in her last three, and she should be much more involved. (4) FEELIN RED HOT performed much better last Thursday, finishing third after a pocket trip. That's something to build on, and it's tough to discount a horse with as much back-class as she's got against this type of field. (6) SANDY'S BEACH steps up from the NW7500L5's but does so off a win, and it seems like trainer Cory Stratton has got her on a nice run of form.

Race 6 - NW4/50000LT Trot

(6) CAMDEN HILLS won the New Jersey Standardbred Development Fund final down at Freehold two back and gets reunited with Joe Bongiorno tonight. (4) CREDIT CON advanced from seventh to fourth in the last quarter a week ago and may have needed that race since he'd been off since 9-10. (5) TRANQUILITY K has hit the board in both of her chances in this class and four straight times overall.

Race 7 - F&M Open Handicap Pace

(3) SIESTA BEACH wound up with the best luck out of the mares that drew for posts three through seven here. I think she'll be on the lead or in the pocket, and I'll take my chances with her either way. (4) RACINE BELL just doesn't seem to be able to finish off her miles like she was earlier this summer right now, and is an underneath type to me. (6) DRAGON ROLL owns two wins and a second in her last three shots at the Open level. Tyler Buter takes a shot with her this time after Jason Bartlett stuck with Racine Bell.

Race 8 - NW6/75000LT Trot

(4) DC ANNA trotted a pretty good last quarter a week ago and finally gets out of the eight-hole this time. I'll take a shot with her. (1) DIFFIDENT raced in a NW6 event that went very fast on 9-30, so I can overlook that she lost ground. She was a solid second in her try prior to that one. (5) JULA MUSCLE PACK merits respect returning to overnight action after racing in stakes at The Red Mile, but he did break the last time he appeared at Yonkers.

Race 9 - F&M NW15000L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW10000L5/25000CLM/NW9 Pace

(7) SHEIKH YABOOTY N drops out of the NW20000L5 class and gets Joe Bongiorno to steer for the first time since late August. (2) CLASSY CHAPEL N won in very handy fashion from first-over last week, and it appears she's back to the type of form that carried her all the way to the Preferred level at one point earlier this year. (8) MONICA GALLAGHER drew another bad post but she did close in 27 1/5 on October 2.

Race 10 - NW6/78000LT Trot

(5) DUCHESSPEDIA destroyed that field on 9-30 in her debut for the Bongiornos and gets to remain in the NW6 class. (1) GAB IN MOTION was very impressive in a facile victory over NW4 rivals a week ago, and he definitely has shown he has an affinity for half-mile tracks. (6) ETHAN T HANOVER won in a separate NW4 race last Thursday after exiting stakes company and was Bartlett's choice of four horses here.

Race 11 - F&M NW30500L5 Pace

(1) SCUOLA HANOVER scored quite impressively over NW20000L5's last Thursday, and given she charged from eighth to third in the final quarter from post eight in this class two back, I'm guessing it isn't too tough for her. (3) DBLDELITEBRIGADE N should appreciate getting to drop out of the Open, and I think she's probably needed that race a week ago after being scratched sick on 9-23. (7) BETTERB CHEVRON N has won the last two times she's gotten to race at this level and probably shouldn't be ignored, even from the outside.

Race 12 - F&M NW20000L5/30000CLM/NW10 Pace

(2) ROCKNROLL ANNIE retreats back to the NW20000L5 class after taking one chance against NW30000L5's. She won at this level two back and gets a driver switch to Bartlett. (4) MAN DONTFORGET ME also slides down from the NW30000L5's, and she has two seconds and a third in her last three chances against NW20000L5's. (1) TURNTHEFROWNAROUND will probably get plenty of support as she moves in from post seven to the pole position, but she has made breaks in two of her last four appearances at Yonkers, and that makes me leery of her.
