Yonkers: Analysis for Saturday 12/5

Matt Rose|Dec 03, 2020
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 206 - 623 / $1,067.70 (-$178.30)
BEST BETS: 35 - 60 / $113.30 (-$6.70)
Best Bet:
MISTER SPOT A (2nd)
Spot Play: OSTRO HANOVER (7th)

Race 1: $15,000 Claiming Pace

(5) HEREHECOMESAROCKIN fired to the front last week and did everything right except win, getting nipped by a trip-sitter sneaking up the rail; I'll give him another try. (6) CONTROL TOWER was third best coming out of that same race, but I was expecting a bit more from this veteran; drawing outside his main competition hurts his chances. (4) ELECTRIC WESTERN has been off since March but he qualified nicely and gets Bartlett in the bike.

Race 2: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) MISTER SPOT A didn't have much of a chance last start but he finished in :27 to pick up a small share. Shane Tritton trainee gets much-needed class and post relief plus Stratton is back driving; import looks like lock-city here. (7) SOHO LENNON A does his best work from inside posts but it's tough to discount this veteran's chances here. (3) PROVEN DESIRE never got involved last week but the move inside should help.

Race 3: $20,000 Claiming Pace

(5) GIVENUPDREAMING has had tons of success at Yonkers in the past and he returns from Plainridge in pretty decent form; veteran clearly looks like the one here. (1) LUCAN HANOVER was a solid second last week and appears to be the main threat. (4) MAJOR CROCKER A faces better tonight but was a game winner in his first start for new connections.

Race 4: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) SILAS SEELSTER drops for the third consecutive start after coming back from a bit of time on the shelf and the Devita trainee figures to be much more involved tonight. (1) ARTIE’S IDEAL finished well last week after escaping traffic; will a more aggressive try be coming tonight? I think so. (2) CAPOZZO is making his way back up the class ladder and is a strong candidate to his the ticket from this good inside post.

Race 5: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) GLOBALDOMINATION N ran into American History last week when transitioning from the NW ranks to arguably the tougher "Saturday night" stock and the Pete Tritton trainee offered up little. I'm not 100% sure he can go with this type but I'll give him a shot if the price is decent. (2) IMAROCNROLLEGEND N gave way badly on the front end last out as the heavy favorite; Bongiorno is back driving for his sister and maybe he does better tonight. (7) PYRO invades from Indiana for Burke and he does show a couple of solid races from Pennsylvania in October.

Race 6: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) ARTFUL WAY always performs well at Yonkers in limited appearances and he returns into a live spot while likely offering the best price of the contenders. (2) YAYAS HOT SPOT N is certainly logical here given the post relief. (4) CAVIART LUCA hasn't raced in three weeks but maybe the brief break will help this veteran's cause.

Race 7: Open Pace

(3) OSTRO HANOVER gave it a great try in last week's Borgata eligibles event and overall he's been in solid form; 5-year-old gelding lands a good post with this open draw and deserves top billing. (5) SAN DOMINO A was rebuffed by the top one last week after an aggressive try; he returns to Bartlett here now in a new barn and he figures to be on the move early. (4) CLEVER CHARACTER is a talented 3-year-old for Burke who acclimated nicely last week and could have more to offer.

[DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!]

Race 8: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) TWIN B TUFFENUFF moves inside for Burke and figures to take these a long way on the front end. (2) PAT STANLEY N has had mixed results for Shane Tritton since arriving but he did finish willingly last out from too far back after burning all the cash the start prior. Missed time is a bit of a concern. (5) HOT DEUCE and (4) TIN ROOF RAIDER A are both capable of showing sharp early speed.

Race 9: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) BETTOR MEMORIES offered up little in his debut for the Burke barn but he's right back in to go so I assume all is ok with the classy veteran. (3) ROLLWITHPAPAJOE was a sharp winner last week but the Jenn Bongiorno trainee needs to prove to me that he's capable of back-to-back good efforts. (5) HIGHLAND TARTAN tries Bartlett tonight and should be able to land a piece of this.
