Yonkers: Analysis for Saturday 12/12

Matt Rose|Dec 10, 2020
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 206 - 623 / $1,067.70 (-$178.30)
BEST BETS: 35 - 60 / $113.30 (-$6.70)
Best Bet:
TWIN B SPEEDO (1st)
Spot Play: ARTFUL WAY (5th)

Race 1: $20,000 Claiming Pace

(1) TWIN B SPEEDO has looked like a completely different horse over the last five starts, including winning first out off the Alexander claim. Good times are likely to continue tonight. (7) GIVENUPDREAMING was a winner in his local return and was claimed out of the race by the Vizzi barn, which has had some success here with limited starters; Dube will likely be on the move early with the veteran. (4) ELECTRIC WESTERN flew home to just miss last week and he should be able to hit the ticket again.

Race 2: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) CAMPORA N has failed to get involved in his last three from outside posts, but he does show sub-28 kickers in those races. This is a softer field than he's been facing and overall just feels like a better spot. (1) FINE DIAMOND finished with pace inn behind a couple of tough ones last week and he draws best here which ensures the Stafford trainee will be up close to the pace. (2) VIGRIN STORM has raced well in all recent efforts without a victory to show for it.

Race 3: $20,000/$25,000 Claiming Pace

(6) JUST N ACE was a solid two-move winner last week upon arrival and was claimed by Sodano; Bartlett drives again and the gelding is a live candidate to repeat. (3) MAJOR CROCKER A has been decent since moving to the Cito barn and he can make some noise here with a live trip. (1) NOTABADGAME had little to offer last week facing better; he drops in for a tag tonight and lands the best post.

Race 4: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) LYONS KING shows two sharp local wins since moving to the Shane Tritton barn and he may be good enough to take a third straight on the class hike. (1) MACH DORO A returns locally for Cushing and he's raced well here in the past. (3) HERRICKROOSEVELT N proved that the missed time was no problem as the import was a strong winner; he loses Stratton to the top choice but still must be considered.

Race 5: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) ARTFUL WAY needed a bit more when facing a couple of good rivals in his local return and he ended up third best; I'll give him another chance departing from the rail again. (8) THE WALL seems to be feeling good again and he can loom large here assuming Bartlett can get him in play. (3) PEPPER GUY could be a good option to round out the bottom of the ticket at a decent price.

Race 6: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) SEEUINNASHVILLE A has a couple of needed starts under his belt now and the import may be ready to show more. (4) SEMI TOUGH was never a serious player in his local return but he should be more aggressively handled tonight. (1) ANTHEM N is best a level down but from the inside post he should be good enough to stick around for a share.

Race 7: Open Handicap Pace

(7) WESTERN FAME called on that back class last start to tough out a gusty win; he's got the early speed to overcome the outside post. (4) TOOKADIVEOFFDIPPER has a post edge on his main rivals and Kakaley should take advantage of that by being aggressive off the gate. (5) HEZA KINGSLAYER N has something to prove here but he was looking great in those high-conditioned races at Hoosier last month.

[DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!]

Race 8: NW20400 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) SOUTHWIND OZZI was put in play versus the best pacers on the continent in the TVG and tired late; prior efforts at Philly served notice that this 4-year-old was back in fighting form; top effort can take this. (2) AMERICAN MERCURY has been a pretty consistent player since arriving at Yonkers for Pelling. (5) MOONSHINE KISSES is facing tougher here but has been razor-sharp.

Race 9: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(6) MAC'S JACKPOT gets needed class relief tonight and despite being outside again if put in play by Holland he's more than capable of beating these. (1) MISTER SPOT A failed at 5 cents on the dollar last week but the horse that beat him (Soho Lennon A) certainly had license to win; Tritton trainee gets another crack from the rail. (2) I'M SOME GRADUATE is up in class again for Burke looking for three straight.

Race 10: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) ROCKAPELO almost went the distance last out at Philly and he's raced well in all recent local starts when he was in a live spot; Burke trainee can get it done here with smooth sailing. (7) PAT STANLEY N has been burning money since arriving but the good news is that he'll be a good price tonight. (1) MYKINDACHIP has been solid since moving to the Alexander barn.
