Yonkers: Analysis for Saturday 11/14

Matt Rose|Nov 12, 2020
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 206 - 623 / $1,067.70 (-$178.30)
BEST BETS: 35 - 60 / $113.30 (-$6.70)
Best Bet:
WESTERN FAME (4th)
Spot Play: CAVIART LUCA (9th)

Race 1: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(6) SOHO LEVIATHAN A dropped to this bottom level last week and put in a good effort in defeat, beaten by an overdue rival with back class. A similar effort here should get the job done. (1) ASTON HILL DAVE fits well with these and finally lands an inside post but he doesn't win all that often. (5) SWIFT AS A SHADOW did finish with some pace after the fact last week and was second best the start prior.

Race 2: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) ELWELL decided to take control of the proceedings last week and was barely nipped by The Wall (who has post eight in here), and that one is on the comeback trail. Laterza trainee always gives an honest effort and should offer some value here. (1) MACH N CHEESE charged home to just miss last week and he's clearly inching closer to another win; Buter stays. (5) ANTHEM N faltered on the front end last out; Tritton trainee may revert to off-the-pace tactics here.

Race 3: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) SPRINGSTEEN can be a major handful with his pre-race (and sometimes mid-race) antics but he's probably the most talented in here and he goes for two straight. (6) GRATIAN HANOVER hasn’t finished all that well in his last couple but he's more than proven with this type and the Jenn Bongiorno trainee could show more here at a price. (4) IMSTAYNALIVE bumps up off a win for the sharp Lachance barn and he should be coming late.

Race 4: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) WESTERN FAME is an ex-Levy champion who returns locally now in the care of Shane Tritton and he appears ready to go off that 1:53 3/5 qualifier. (3) AMERICAN MERCURY has now taken two of three after burning plenty of money in prior starts. He'll garner attention at the windows (ADW wager pads?) again and should be right there at the wire. (4) ROCKAPELO gets a better post and was a winner at this level two back for Burke.

Race 5: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) IDEAL JIMMY never got involved last week but was starting to recapture his form in prior starts; post relief should make him the one to catch. (6) OUR CORELLI N was a $2.10 winner at this level four back with Bartlett driving but this is obviously a bit tougher spot; Choate trainee still should be considered. (5) YAYAS HOT SPOT N appears way overdue for a win but insist on a decent price if you think it's tonight.

Race 6: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) BETTOR THAN SPRING was outbattled deep stretch versus a bit better last week after a two-move effort; pacer is sharp now and can get it done with smooth sailing. (4) RAUKAPUKA RULER N left alertly from post eight in last and enjoyed a pocket ride to be second best; Pete Tritton trainee is an obvious contender. (1) AUDI HARE N gave way on the front end last start but he doesn't figure to be cutting the mile tonight; ground-saving trip can land him a share.

Race 7: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(6) BELTANE A has been reasonably consistent of late and faces some rivals here who are unproven at this level; Lance Hudson trainee has shown decent closing ability and perhaps he can reach at a price with some live flow (insert eye-roll here). (3) HOT DEUCE steps up a notch looking for two straight and the freelegged pacer look like the one to catch. (4) ARTIE'S IDEAL has hit a rough patch since graduating from NW8 but clearly the ability is there.

Race 8: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) DANCIN DRAGON was a game pocket winner last week and gets a free ride from a similar spot. (7) IMAROCNROLLEGEND N powered away in a sharp back half to finally return to the winner's circle and the Jenn Bongiorno trainee is talented enough to handle the rise in class. (6) TAP TAP TAP has much to prove but has looked like a new horse since moving to the Shane Tritton barn; Stratton drives.

[DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!]

Race 9: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) CAVIART LUCA may not be a true "Open" horse anymore but the Burke-trained millionaire should still be a solid player with this type. (1) FLAMING FLUTTER N qualified nicely behind Western Fame and he should be ready to go from this spot. (7) TOOKADIVEOFFDIPPER has been good since returning locally but obviously the post presents a problem; consider underneath at a price.
