Yonkers: Analysis for Monday 8/5

Matt Rose|Aug 02, 2024
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2024 MEET STATS: 224 - 753 / $1,246.10 (-$259.90)

BEST BETS: 32 - 65 / $120.40 (-$9.60)

BEST BET: TWO FACED (9th)

SPOT PLAY: KOMODO BEACH (3rd)

Race 1: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(6) CHIMICHURRI N steps up the class ladder going for three straight and it shouldn't be a problem considering the Shane Tritton trainee was competitive with this type earlier in the season. (3) AMMO drops back to the level of his last win, draws well. (2) POINTOMYGRANSON hasn’t done much recently but drops and moves back inside.

Race 2: 3-5YO Open Pace

(4) VENTURESOME ARDEN N trailed with no chance two back then last week was third best only beaten a head when out-tripped. Bucci import had won three straight prior. (6) ITS A ME MARIO was sent off at 12/1 in a five-horse field last start and scored; he may be value again starting from the outside. (1) VERDUN rallied strongly to just miss first-time Lachance.

Race 3: NW15751 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) KOMODO BEACH's last four posts were 8,8,5,7 and that was racing at the NW20000 level. Alexander trainee drops to the level of his last win and moves all the way in to the rail. (4) NANDOLO N goes back to Bartlett after just missing with Lauren Tritton driving; by now we know what his deal is. (5) SONNY WEAVER N could be more involved at a price.

Race 4: NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) ULTIMAROCA won from this post, this class two back then missed less than a length in his last start as the odds-on chalk. He's been coming from off the pace recently but we've also seen Stratton leave with him in the past. Only concern is the three weeks off. (7) NONE BETTOR A has disappointed in his last couple; picks up Brennan and we know he can leave the gate. (3) THIS IS THE PLAN is no stakes horse anymore but is still serviceable.

Race 5: $40,000 Claiming Pace

(4) IM A POWERPLAY A stepped up to the $40K claiming level off the Garcia-Herrera claim and proved he's sharp enough to belong with these when he rallied nicely to be third best at a big price. Tonight he lands an improved post and should be live. (6) BECHERS BROOK A was claimed again last week and looks to remain sharp. (1) OPTICAL ILLUSION N drops from $50’s to $40’s and lands the rail. Dube interestingly gets the call again on the Burke trainee.

Race 6: 3-5YO Open Pace

(4) RACING RAMPAGE made his first start for The Alexander barn at the NW5000 level after shipping in from Ohio and he's worked his way to the top level about as fast as you can; looks to take another. (1) ADAM TWELVE is the ultimate model of consistency and he’ll be live from this spot. (2) HAZEVILLE has gone off a big price in his four starts at this level but has raced well in all of them, culminating with last week’s 16/1 upset win. Can he do it again?

Race 7: $50,000 Claiming Pace

(3) JUST ENUFF STUFF has two seconds and a third in three starts since he was claimed by the Devita barn. 4YO faces mostly elders here but is a smooth trip away from getting it done. (4) SHINE A LIGHT tired in debut for the DiDomenico barn after the claim, now was taken by Laterza; improves? (5) BIG DREAM FELLA steps up off the Dilloian, Jr. claim after just missing last week; gets Bartlett.

Race 8: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) TWIN B DELUXE successfully dropped and popped two back then followed that up with another easy win. Bako trainee steps up another notch on the class ladder but the sharp sort seems to have renewed confidence and faces a field of rivals who haven't had a win recently. (3) CAPTIVATE HANOVER hasn’t been as sharp as in the past but he’s still clearly a contender. (1) CASINO ACTION N lands the rail off two close-up pocket tries; overdue for a win or needs a drop?

Race 9: 3-5YO $30,000 Claiming Pace

(1) TWO FACED stepped up to the $40K claimers last week and ended up uncovered into a rated pace before tiring to fourth. Tonight he drops back to the level of the recent claim and will be looking to go down the road, like he did two back. (4) LAST POUND has hit the board in his last two for these connections and figures to do so again. (3) HE'S SPECIAL has been dull recently including two for this barn off the claim but he gets some post relief.

Race 10: $30,000 Claiming Pace

(5) PRETTY HANDSOME closed well in his last two facing similar and those efforts resulted in a win and a third. Stratton is back driving for Gillis and he's got options from this midpack post in this competitive finale. (1) SULLIVAN has speed and an inside draw. (7) GENIUS MAN hasn’t been a prolific winner the last couple of years but he’s reeled off two in a row from off the pace. Can he do it again?
