BEST BETS: 42 - 69 / $133.40 (-$4.60)
BEST BET: CAPTIVATE HANOVER (1st)
SPOT PLAY: OZONE BLUE CHIP (12th)
Race 1: NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace
(2) CAPTIVATE HANOVER cruised on the front end last week and he faces much of the same here from another inside post; Garcia-Herrera trainee can repeat. (6) LOU'S SWEETREVENGE was in a tough spot in his local return but he drops from the Open and lands Stratton. Only knock is the post. (3) SHINE A LIGHT was also a non-factor in last week's Open and he's been competitive at the level recently.

Race 2: 3-5YO $50,000 Claiming Pace
(4) SHAKESPEARE gave it a shot last start facing tougher stock but didn't make an impact facing the likes of Semi Tough. Daguet trainee has had mostly positive moments recently with this type. (3) STRIKING IMPACT powered away last week when moved back into claimers and he stays put at this level looking to win again. (2) PINEBUSH LIFESAVER has been in career form recently and seems like a must-use in exotics.
Race 3: $30,000 Claiming Pace
(3) COPPER TEEN was ineffective at the age-restricted $50K level so he drops significantly in price looking to awaken. His best asset is speed which figures to be on display here. (6) WAR DAN DELIGHT N just missed last week in his return to this level, proving that this is where he fits. Gelding needs to overcome the outside post here. (4) BRACKLEY BEACH has raced better since the Berkeley claim but still hasn't won this year at 0 for 19. Drawing outside #3 doesn't help his chances of improving position off the gate.
Race 4: 3-5YO $50,000 Claiming Pace
(1) KING JAMES EXPRESS raced very well in his last two facing open claimers and now he moves back into the age-restricted event, and draws the rail in this six-horse affair. Clearly the one to beat, unless #2 proves to be a monster. (2) IMMA BE returned to Yonkers last month and jogged in a $15K claimer, then blew away $25's last week. He goes for double the price now for the Berkeley barn...interesting. (4) COALITION HANOVER has picked up minor shares since being claimed by Laterza and that figures to be the case again.
Race 5: $40,000 Claiming Pace
(8) JUSTASEC N picked up the leading driver in his local return and they teamed up to win at 17/1. He stays at the same level and while drawn badly again I suspect we may be seeing a Bartlett blast. (3) ISLANDSPECIALMAJOR has been solid in all recent and is very logical in this spot for top connections. (5) ALOTBETTOR N bumps back up in class off two wins but it's likely he's in for a tougher trip tonight.
Race 6: $50,000 Claiming Pace
(2) SAILBOAT HANOVER put in his usual decent effort last week racing from midpack; Bako trainee figures to be little closer here and could be freshest late. (6) PRETTY HANDSOME is proven at this level while a few others aren't, and he should offer a good price. (4) NOME HANOVER drops in for a tag and the Bongiorno trainee will likely be handled aggressively from this post.
Race 7: Open Handicap Pace; 1-2, 3-7 drawn
(4) ANOTHRMASTRPIECE N was sent off at 6/5 from the eight hole in a half-mile sprint last month which I thought was insane. After not factoring in that race he blew away the field over his next three and didn't disgrace himself in the Dave Brower Memorial last week. Tritton import will be sailing to the top. (2) RED RIGHT HAND has had success here in the past and he picked off a few to be third best in the Brower. These two seem to have an edge on the rest, except maybe (5) FORTIFY, who has been rock-solid for Burke.
Race 8: Open Handicap Pace; 1-3, 5-7 drawn, 4 assigned
Much tougher of the two Opens tonight. (2) LEONIDAS A was off time heading into last week's race and the fact that he was sent off at 39/1 tells you what you need to know. Move inside is obviously huge. (5) COVERED BRIDGE was also stuck at the back last start but won in 1:49 4/5 the week prior. He's the deserving favorite. (1) SEMI TOUGH earns a trip back up to the Open and lands the rail. Bartlett picks up the catch drive on the Burke trainee...interesting.
Race 9: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) SHERIFF N seemed to take some time but it appears he's regained his stride. Though he trailed throughout from the outside in his local return he drops to face softer and draws much better. (4) JAY BRACKEN A also gets to face a bit softer for the duo of Bartlett and Engblom. (2) GLACIS went off favored last week at the NW10000 level and was not a threat. From this spot though he should hit the ticket.
Race 10: NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace
(2) EL LE TISSIER N has raced well in all five starts since invading from Down Under and he closed with plenty last week from a tough spot. Move inside should make this guy more competitive and he can offer some value. (6) MOONLIGHT SHADOW was going nowhere last week in the Open but has a win and a close second in his last two at this level. Bartlett sticks with him. (1) HEINIKIN BYTHEBAY invades from Harrington where he's been a big force at their top level; can the 4YO fit with these? I guess we'll find out.

Race 11: NW10567 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) MY ULTIMATE STAR A doesn't have a strong win profile but he's steadily improved throughout the course of the season and now he drops into a softer spot. These Lance Hudson horses that have surfaced in the Koch barn have been looking fine so far. (1) MAXIMUS RED A hasn't hit the board since the last time Bartlett drove him, and look who's back in the sulky! (7) WICHITA LINEMAN is outside but has too much class to ignore.
Race 12: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(2) OZONE BLUE CHIP was uncovered into a rating Funatthebeach N last week and he didn't threaten but didn't tire that badly. Kakaley can be more aggressive tonight. (5) NANDOLO N has had an up-and-down season but we know how talented he is. (1) SONNY WEAVER N figures to be sitting a comfortable trip here, perhaps behind #2.
