Yonkers: Analysis for Monday 6/7

MEET STATS: 197 - 544 / $1,116.60 (+$28.60)
BEST BETS: 26 - 55 / $82.80 (-$27.20)
Best Bet: LYONS WILLIAM (5th)
Spot Play: SPEED MAN N (8th)
Race 1: $25,000 Claiming Pace
(5) CHANGE STRIDE N was solid in his first two starts off the Adamczyk claim then hiked to the $40K level and found the water a bit too deep; he drops back to $25's and has a post edge on his more formful rivals here. (2) BAKERSFIELD went an insane qualifying trip but then offered up less than nothing when pulled uncovered in his first start for the Lance Hudson barn; he also faces softer here while drawing well again. (8) FOREVER FAV is back in for a tag for Team Bongiorno and he's got enough early speed to overcome the eight-hole draw.

Race 2: $25,000 Claiming Pace
(5) BLUEBIRD RECON dropped in for a $20K tag last start and predictably there were multiple claims on this veteran. He goes to Andrew Adamczyk and keeps Holland in the bike coming off a stubborn effort in defeat. (1) ROCK ON LINE continues to descend the ladder as he's fallen out of form a bit but the Devita trainee still deserves respect. (7) FOX VALLEY INFERNO could not sustain a wide move last start and now he lands outside; gelding will be a big price but others from this barn have done well so maybe Bartlett can sneak him into the Tri or Super.

Race 3: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace
(4) HERRICKROOSEVELT N has been in tough spots in his last few and failed to get involved but he faces softer, gets a slightly improved post and Stratton's back driving. (2) LUCIANO N prefers life a level or two down but he's won two straight in solid fashion and this veteran always brings 100% to the track. (5) BRONX SEELSTER drops again looking to regain his form; will the Shane Tritton barn finally awaken in the second half of the Yonkers season?
Race 4: $30,000 Claiming Pace
(4) BARBADOS beat a similar field two back with a good off-the-pace effort and was claimed last out when having no chance. From a good midpack post here the gelding could work out a live trip; we'll see. (1) MARTY MONKHOUSER A jogged on the front end first out for Jenn Bongiorno; he faces a bit tougher but does draw inside and may be controlling the action again. (5) TWIN B SPEEDO put in a rare bad effort last start; can the Burke trainee turn it around? I'm not ready to give up on him yet.
Race 5: $40,000 Claiming Pace
(5) LYONS WILLIAM has been great since the Gillis claim for $20K and he can be excused for flattening out last start after the tough trip; gelding is clearly the one to beat here. (3) UPTOWN FUNK has picked up a nice check in all five of his recent local starts and he should be in line for another good share from this spot. (4) PACING MAJOR N is back from an extended break and he may need a start or two.
Race 6: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(4) ELWELL was an upset winner right off the bench two back then had absolutely no chance from the outside post in a paceless race. From this midpack post the classy veteran should be close enough to strike. (1) MACHEASY A has been making a living upstate recently and he returns into a good spot; gelding has two wins here already this season. (5) LEVINE has good speed and Zeron may be the first one to the front.
Race 7: Open Handicap Pace
(1) PYRO returns from a nice win at Philly and he looks for four straight overall; if Dube gets him away smoothly and in good order he may prove tough to catch (as the likely favorite from the rail in a handicap race…hmmm). (5) SOME WARATAH A is also riding a nice winning streak and he's proven he can go with these; last we saw him here he was a sharp pocket-sitting winner at 6/1. (4) JACK’S LEGEND N has local experience and he returns in top form.
Race 8: Preferred Pace
(2) SPEED MAN N never had a chance in his last race as Zeron sat the rail and was buried in traffic; he's got some big efforts sprinkled in this season and from this decent starting spot he deserves a long look. (5) MAC'S JACKPOT is still shut out of the win column in 2021 but he's managed to bank over $55K; gelding is always capable if things go his way. (3) SHERIFF N has been unable to close the deal in his last couple and burned plenty of money in the process; don't accept too short of a price.
Race 9: $50,000/$75,000 Claiming Handicap Pace
(2) LACHIE MAGUIRE N was a sharp winner here three back and stayed fresh with a couple of rugged races up at Saratoga; he drops in for the $50K tag tonight which ensured a good post and was Marohn's logical choice. (7) LETS HAVE ANOTHER should (hopefully?) be forwardly placed off the gate in this race that doesn't appear to have a ton of early speed on paper. (3) PICARD A has been a super claim so far for Milici, who dipped in for $20K and now may be favored in for $50K.
Race 10: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(4) CAN B PERFECT has been close up in most of his recent efforts but doesn't have a win to show for it. Perhaps tonight's the night versus a field that didn't come up particularly strong. (1) WALKINSHAW N was odds-on at this level two back but got baked up in a duel, and he followed that up with an even fourth-place finish. He should be a live player from this spot. (2) CAPTAIN NASH is also drawn well and should be close to the pace throughout.
Race 11: NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace
(2) ESCAPETOTHEBEACH hasn't put in a bad effort since arriving locally for Virgil Morgan, Jr. while he steadily climbed the class ladder and he should be in line for a live trip from this good starting spot. (3) NANDOLO N took all the money in his second U.S. start and he powered to a 1:48 4/5 win at the Meadowlands for Shane Tritton. Bartlett drives again here as he transitions to the half-mile and to be honest I'm not sure what to do with him (at a short price). (1) PEACE OUT POSSE was all out chasing Pyro last start; Bongiorno trainee lands the rail again and I'm sure he'll be aggressively handled.
Race 12: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace
(5) MICKY GEE N had poor post-position excuses in his last two but three back he got away badly from the rail and didn't really fire; he's arguably the best in here and should be able to get the job done, but I'm certainly not in love with him. (2) SKIP TO MY LOU was a clear second to a good rival last start; Chindano, Jr. has a big chance here. (1) OUR MAX PHACTOR N walked around the track as the odds-on chalk last out but could not hold off Mark Witha K; he'll have to be much better than that to win here.
