Yonkers: Analysis for Monday 6/6

Matt Rose|Jun 03, 2022
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 188 - 590 / $946.10 (-$233.90)

BEST BETS: 31 - 54 / $131.30 (+$23.30)

Best Bet: SONNY WEAVER N (7th)

Spot Play: JOESSTAR OF MIA A (4th)

Race 1: $50,000 Claiming Pace

(1) BETTOR BE OSCAR A added Lasix for his debut off the Dowse claim, was bet down to odds-on favoritism, rallied from off the pace and just missed. Moving to the rail tonight makes him routine selecting. (4) OZONE BLUE CHIP never got involved from the outside post coming out of the same race at the top choice but the post relief makes the Burke trainee an obvious contender. (3) FOREVER FAV drops in for a tag and draws well enough to be competitive.

Race 2: $75,000 Claiming Pace

(2) ROLLING WITH SAM has been on a massive form spree since moving to the Dowse stable and despite getting nipped at the wire last week he can make amends here, either on the front or just off the pace. (3) FEELIN WESTERN was the one who collared the top choice in that last start and overall he's been a solid earner since the Burke claim. (1) MAJOR BETTS moves from the seven hole to the rail which makes him an obvious contender. Interesting to see how aggressive Bongiorno is in the early stages.

Race 3: Pop-Up NW15000 Leg #2 Pace

(1) ANOTHRMASTRPIECE N had missed a little time off a sick scratch prior to last week's race but it made no difference as he was a solid two-move winner. Recent Shane Tritton import will be a very short price but is difficult to go against. (2) MOONLIGHT SHADOW has been racing well for low-profile connections and he can add some value underneath. (4) LONG WEEKEND A has rounded into form for Jenn Bongiorno and he was a pocket-sitting second best in round one of this Pop-Up series.

Race 4: NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace

(7) JOESSTAR OF MIA A takes an important drop from the Open level and he does have the early speed to help compensate for the poor draw; expecting an aggressive effort from Bartlett. (4) ALEX TYE didn't fire his best shot last week but he has proven he can go with this type and he's another who could be forwardly placed. (3) PYRO is best a level or two down but he's been very sharp and goes for three straight.

Race 5: Pop-Up NW15000 Leg #2 Pace

(3) RAUKAPUKA RULER N isn't what he used to be and it took him a while to get going this season but the Pete Tritton trainee can still get it done with this type. From this decent post Stratton can work out a live trip. (2) COALITION HANOVER has been right there in all recent (though was dq'ed last week) and Bongiorno will have him on or near the front. (7) BRONX SEELSTER proved the seven hole was no problem last week with that sharp wire-to-wire score; can he do it again?

Race 6: $75,000 Claiming Trot

(1) ON HIGHER GROUND showed what he can do last week when he stays trotting and I'm sure the game plan will be the same tonight from a similar spot. (3) WILD AND CRAZY GUY was uncovered into the winner last start and could not sustain the run; classy veteran should will be forwardly placed tonight. (4) STEUBEN HANOVER returns from Pocono for Burke and he has a few recent third-place finishes at this level.

Race 7: Pop-Up NW15000 Leg #2 Pace

(1) SONNY WEAVER N cruised on the front end in 1:51 3/5 last week in his local return and he has the looks of another short-priced winner for Bartlett on tonight's card. (2) SOHO LENNON A is a different horse when drawn inside and the classy import figures to be sitting a close-up trip. (7) ROCKIN M is post-compromised but he's closed a ton in most recent efforts both here and at The Big M.

Race 8: Open Handicap Pace

(4) SPEED MAN N was a sneaky-good third in last week's Open at a big price and his early speed always serves him well. Bongiorno can work out a nice trip at a decent price, with (2) BEE TWO BEE figuring to take most of the action. The latter had a good run in the Borgata series and he returns for Burke off a punishing effort at Freehold. (6) PRICELESS BEACH has been a cash machine since arriving from Canada and must be respected despite the outside assignment.

Race 9: Pop-Up NW15000 Leg #2 Pace

(4) NONE BETTOR A got Bartlett in the bike last week in his local return and turned in a solid front-end winning effort. He's got loads of back class and is more than capable of repeating. (3) REIGNING DEO closed with plenty last out and now gets post relief; gelding goes back to Alexander and has the looks of a prime contender. (1) MACH N CHEESE has been much-improved since moving to the Cory Stratton barn.

Race 10: $75,000 Claiming Pace

(6) I'M SOME GRADUATE went wire-to-wire with ease in his last start after walking to the half in :58 2/5 but he's also had good off-the-pace efforts. There doesn't seem to be a ton of early speed inside of him so perhaps Bartlett can make the front without too much effort. (1) LYONS KING has a win, a second and a couple of thirds in his last four tries at this $75K claiming level. (3) BELTANE A could not reach last week when returning to this level but it looks like he's rounded back into form with good efforts against a bit lesser.

Race 11: $50,000 Claiming Trot

(6) STONEBRIDGE GAMBLE has more than proven himself with this type since arriving from Northfield and he'll look to resume winning ways off the Travis Alexander claim. (3) EMOTIONS RICHES disappointed last week in his first start for Dowse but he gets post relief and should be in for a better trip. (4) SWISS HOUSE ON FIRE has been poor in his last few but he does have some early speed and has been well-mannered.

Race 12: NW30101 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) DINA BOLT N hasn't put in a bad effort since being claimed by these connections a few months back, but he hasn't found the winner's circle either. He should be in line for a good trip from this spot so maybe tonight's the night. (6) SPLASH BROTHER was turned away in last week's Open but this level is more to his liking. (4) NO LOU ZING was a solid second here two back to an equally classy winner and he obviously deserves respect. (7) KEYSTONE PHOENIX destroyed much lesser in the NW5000 Pop-Up series and he has the back class to contend here.
