MEET STATS: 197 - 544 / $1,116.60 (+$28.60) BEST BETS: 26 - 55 / $82.80 (-$27.20) Best Bet: ROUGH ODDS (5th) Spot Play: MACHING TIME (4th) Race 1: NYSS 2YO C&G Trot (3) VALENTINE EXPRESS qualified handily up at Vernon for his career debut and the Okusko family has seemingly had success with NY breds since the beginning of time. (1) GRAND SPA seemed much more prepared in that second qualifier for Toscano and while the rail may not be the best starting spot for a young trotter with that tricky first turn looming if he behaves himself he should be plenty competitive here. (2) VELVET STYLE has had the benefit of a pari-mutuel race already, and it was a winning effort at Pocono with Bartlett driving. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: NYSS 2YO C&G Trot (6) JUSTICE makes his debut for Svanstedt after closing alertly at The Meadowlands in a morning trial. I'm fairly confident that these connections will be ready to go with just the lone qualifier. (5) WAKANDA already has a winning effort over the half in pari-mutuel action up at Saratoga. Dan Daley has been competitive on this circuit for years with speedy, well-mannered trotters. (1) DISTANCE LEARNING is a fresh Chapter Seven youngster from Marcus Melander and like the top choice appears ready to go off just a single qualifier. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: NYSS 2YO C&G Trot (7) WOULDYOULOOKATTHAT added the trotting hobbles for his second qualifier when arriving at Vernon for Ducharme and he looked pretty solid sprinting home. Don't have much to go on with new sire Devious Man (a $1 million-plus earner for Andy and Julie Miller) but I guess we'll find out more tonight. From a betting standpoint he may be overlooked from the outside post. (2) BARN BULLY is a newcomer for Steven Pratt, a lower-profile outfit that does serious damage every year with NY breds. (4) SECRET RULE certainly appears ready for action for Team Bongiorno off those two Gaitway qualifiers. Race 4: $20,000 Claiming Pace (2) MACHING TIME was put on the front end by Stratton in his debut off the Devita claim and he battled hard before giving way; gelding may be better stalking, like he did with his win four back. (4) TONY TOO TALL had pace in traffic three back, then returned to Ohio and beat a cheaper field, before going evenly here last week; Clegg trainee finds a pretty soft spot here and has proven he belongs. (3) BLACKTREE goes for new connections off the $15K claim and he lands a decent enough starting spot. Race 5: $25,000 Claiming Pace (5) ROUGH ODDS went a super two-move winning effort last week for the streaking Dowse barn. Bump up in price shouldn't affect him if he can duplicate that effort. (3) OFFICIAL DELIGHT gets needed post relief and figures to be more involved tonight. (2) GIVENUPDREAMING hasn't really been all that great since these connections claimed him a few months back but he's got plenty of class and usually goes well from inside posts. Race 6: $30,000 Claiming Pace (5) TIME OUT I'M TIRED has been solid in his last two for the Forte barn and while he bumps up another notch in price tonight he doesn't face any standouts; sharp sort can get it done with a live trip. (1) CHRISTEN ME N moves back into claimers after a comfortable front-end win versus NW10000 types. 13-year-old could have a tactical advantage with his good speed from the inside post. (3) HASH TAG SWAG is a recent addition to the Burke stable and he already has a win and second for that outfit. Fans of Northfield have seen thus guy race plenty of times over the last few years and he does have talent. Race 7: $40,000 Claiming Pace (3) LINCOLNJAMES has been solid recently at Pocono and Philly and finds a pretty soft bunch of $40K claimers here; worth a try. (7) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN goes for Burke now off the claim and he does have early speed in his arsenal. (2) JUST PLAIN LOCO powered home to upset $25K claimers last week and he's protected now at this price but arguably doesn't meet tougher. Race 8: Open Pace (6) ROCKAPELO was great throughout the Borgata series then took a couple of months off; Burke veteran freshened nicely in that qualifier and has a big chance here, assuming he's put in play. (5) RAUKAPUKA RULER N has tailed off in his last couple but he's right back in and it would be no surprise if he bounced back with a better effort. (2) FINE DIAMOND could not reach last week but still picked up a check; he's been in raging form. Race 9: $50,000-$75,000 Claiming Handicap Pace (1) FOREVER FAV may lack the class of some of the others in here but he's been going great for the Bongiorno barn and he's in line for a live trip here. (7) DEALT A WINNER was tagged for $75K last week and went a big trip in defeat; winner of nearly $1.4 million is still a very live commodity. (6) UPTOWN FUNK was both fortunate and good last out and overall he's been a check-earning machine for Nicole DiCostanzo. Race 10: NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace (3) ALLUNEEDISFAITH N has been first or second in all recent efforts in Pennsylvania and his last three were timed in sub-1:50; he had a solid season here a couple of years ago with over $100K banked locally. (6) SEMI TOUGH is another Burke trainee who took a break after a decent showing in the Borgata and that qualifier makes it seem he's ready for action. (1) ROCKIN SPEED lands another good post and I'm sure Bongiorno will be aggressive looking to hold position. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 11: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace (1) IDEAL JIMMY faltered late under bitter pressure last week but he gets another crack at controlling the action tonight; Erv Miller trainee is capable. (3) AIR FORCE HANOVER still hasn't won in quite some time but he's been looking much better for Shane Tritton as he makes his way up the class ladder. (2) IM SIR BLAKE A does have a 1:49 2/5 win to his credit this season but otherwise hasn't been great; maybe the change in scenery helps. Race 12: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace (5) HEAVEN'S GAIT didn't get involved in his last couple but was a good second at this level three back and he's always capable if things go his way. (3) NANDOLO N burned money in his last try but his prior start was a 1:48 4/5 win at The Big M so obviously the talent is there; what sort of trip is he looking at tonight? Perhaps he can cut the mile. (6) THE WILD CARD is fresh stock from Ohio (and the wild card in here) joining the Lance Hudson barn; worth keeping an eye on.
