Best Bet: IDEAL JIMMY (8th)
Spot Play: PYRO (7th)
Race 1: $25,000 Claiming Pace
(1) FASHIONONTHEBEACH never had an anxious moment upon arrival going wire-to-wire with ease; Dowse trainee bumps up a notch in claiming price but he draws the innermost post again and will look to take these the distance again. (7) BLUEBIRD RECON goes for Jenn Bongiorno off the claim and he's got the early speed to get in play from the poor post; gelding should be considered a player here despite what the morning line says. (3) TIME OUT I'M TIRED was a sharp pocket-sitting winner last out versus $20K claimers showing good pace at both ends of his mile; he picks up Brennan tonight with last week's winning driver Stratton opting off.

Race 2: $30,000 Claiming Pace
(6) TALK SHOW dropped in for a tag last week and was promptly snatched up by the Devita barn. Overall this veteran has been feeling good recently and anything from this barn has to be respected. (3) BARBADOS never got involved first-out off the Amanda Kelley claim but he lands a much better post tonight and will be closer to the action. (1) IAMMRBRIGHTSIDE N has been third best in his last four, including at this level three back. From the rail he should be a board threat again.

Race 3: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) ORILLIA JOE was up a bit too high in class when we last saw him but he returns from a decent stint at Philly now facing a bit softer and his solid early speed always gives him a chance. (4) AIR FORCE HANOVER raced really well in his last couple at the Shane Tritton trainee seems overdue. (2) ANTHEM N is more of a win candidate a level or two down but he should be able to save ground from this spot and land a share.
Race 4: $50,000-$75,000 Claiming Handicap Pace
(5) DEALT A WINNER arrives off a nice front-end win at Philly and this Burke-trained veteran finds himself tagged for $75K looking to take another. He seems like a good fit here. (7) LETS HAVE ANOTHER has plenty of early speed which could set him up nicely, if he can get away from the gate in good order. (4) UPTOWN FUNK is just 1 for 17 on the season but he's been a solid money-earner; board threat with a smooth trip.
Race 5: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(4) HIGHLAND TARTAN found the competition a bit too tough last week and didn't fire but he was right there in his last two versus this type; this is a good starting spot for the veteran and gives driver Stratton some options. (2) LEVINE changed tactics last start by coming from off the pace and rallied well to come up a touch short; Zeron/Scran four-year-old has proven he can go with these. (1) MACHEASY A just missed from a pocket ride in his local return and he can be in line for a similar trip tonight.
Race 6: $40,000 Claiming Pace
(2) GUMPTION went a couple of insane efforts versus lesser stock at Northfield a couple of months ago but had been unable to replicate that until last week, when debuting for Temming off the $20K claim. He double-bumps here but could repeat with a similar effort. (4) FOREVER FAV went coast to coast versus 30’s for Team Bongirono and it looks like he can make a quick lead tonight from this spot. (6) ROCK ON LINE was much-improved last week and while he faces better Stratton does stick with him.
Race 7: Open Pace
(5) PYRO returns from Philly and lands a decent enough midpack post in this open draw; if Dube can get him on or near the lead he'll be very tough. (2) RAUKAPUKA RULER N had no excuse to tire last week when he had it all his own way but he lands another inside post and he's too talented to think he won't be able to bounce back. (1) MACH N CHEESE was the third-place finisher in the Borgata final then took a brief vacation; obviously he's capable versus these.
Race 8: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) IDEAL JIMMY returns from upstate where he won Tioga's Open two consecutive times and he was a winner when last at this NW15000 level. (1) BUDDY HILL has been much-improved since moving to the Alexander barn; he’s tested for class here but could be sharp enough to be competitive. (4) ITALIAN DELIGHT was third best in a 1:48 mile last week at The Big M.
Race 9: Preferred Handicap Pace
(4) MAC'S JACKPOT is still shut out on the season but this may be the best spot he's seen in weeks; worth a try despite Holland choosing off. (1) SHNEONUCRYDIAMND A has paced sub-28 final quarters in his last six races, and the move all the way inside helps his cause. (5) HEAVEN'S GAIT gets Siegelman back in the bike and he can be a closing threat.
Race 10: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) ELWELL was an upset winner right off the layoff and can be forgiven for his last two where he started from the worst posts; this is not the strongest of fields and the veteran is more than proven with this type. (1) CAN B PERFECT has hit the board in five of six and is a logical contender (and likely favorite). (6) RUNRUNJIMMYDUNN N was a winner three back at this level.

Race 11: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace
(5) SPEED MAN N has failed to get involved in his last few but he takes a needed drop from the Open ranks and that can help wake this import up. (3) NONE BETTOR A was a disappointment in the Borgata series but he returns to Yonkers off a good qualifier now in the Andrew Harris barn; he’s likely the one to catch. (1) LUCIANO N has been feeling good recently as he makes his way up the class ladder; he has a lot to prove against these but he’s got plenty of back class and would not be impossible.
Race 12: NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace
(4) MICKY GEE N was grinding into a stepped-up second-half pace last week (:59 half?) and he ended up being outfinished late, though only beaten a half. Certified closer can get the best of these with a smoother trip. (2) SAN DOMINO A was the winner in the top one's race and he's an obvious threat to repeat. (8) ESCAPETOTHEBEACH gets a free ride at this level off a win but is stuck all the way outside, which may seal his fate. He should be a healthy price, however.
