SPOT PLAY: IM SIR BLAKE A (12th)
Race 1: NW21181 in last 5 starts Pace
(5) KASHED UP A hit town from Ohio last week for the Cullipher barn but landed the outside post, got away last and never had a realistic chance. Recent import seems to have found a much better spot here and Bartlett will undoubtedly have him in play. (2) QUALITY BUD came out of the same race as the top one and was also a non-factor as he finished last. Logic would dictate that with the move inside the veteran has a legit chance. (1) CAPTIVATE HANOVER completes the trifecta of non-factors coming out of the same race last week. He makes his second start off the Garcia-Herrera claim and moves to the pole position.

Race 2: Open Handicap Pace
(4) MOONSHINE KISSES has won four races already this year, including his last start here where he wired a watered-down Open field. Brennan figures to want control again and if he's able to rate he can take his third straight. (2) LORRIM LAKE A is a recent import for the Andrew Harris barn who is definitely on the improve. He steps up the ladder again going for his third straight. (5) PYRO bounced back from that dull effort in the slop two back with a dominating pocket-pulling score. He's going for 6 of 7 here but being outside most of his competition likely denies him the front.

Race 3: MGM Borgata Pacing Series Leg #4
(4) BACKSTREET SHADOW was patiently handled last week by Kakaley while appearing to be loaded with pace and once let loose he rolled by for the score. He hasn't shown any early speed in a while but I wonder if he leaves out with #3 and can get a close-up trip that would solidify his chances of repeating. (3) JIMMY FREIGHT has raced well enough to be 3 for 3 in the series but he's had to settle for just one win and a couple of close seconds. He'll be right there at the wire again. (2) BEE TWO BEE hasn't had the best trips so far in this series and the Burke trainee seems overdue for better racing luck.
Race 4: $40,000 Claiming Pace
(2) MONEYMAN HILL was outkicked for second after sitting a nice pocket trip last week but I thought it was a very encouraging effort considering it was his first start in almost a year. Devita trainee may be looking at a similar trip tonight and can convert. (4) LOVE THE BLUES N never got involved from the eight hole coming out of the same race as the top choice; post improvement clearly helps his chances. (1) DELIGHTFUL TERROR drops in class for a barn that's been going very well lately.
Race 5: $30,000 Claiming Pace - $10K Gtd. Pick 5 Pool
Tough race to kick off the Pick 5. Taking a stab with (4) KEYSTONE DASH as I'm convinced that he has more speed and overall talent than he's been showing. Garcia-Herrera trainee faces a bit easier tonight and eventually a winning trip is going to come his way. (3) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN is back in for a tag after racing well for his new barn. 13-year-old is winless on the season but has hit the board in 7 of 8. (7) SHARK PLAY got away in the pocket from the eight hole last start and Bartlett figures to be on the move again tonight.
Race 6: MGM Borgata Pacing Series Leg #4
(2) FUNATTHEBEACH N was a powerful winner last week at 36/1 after coming first-up from sixth before the half. Is there any reason to think he can't come uncovered again and repeat what he did? Yes, the leader did quit in his last start but he still drew clear and looked to have plenty left. (5) HELLABALOU finished well to chase the top choice home after escaping a tired rival and that's three solid efforts for him in the Borgata. (1) NONE BETTOR A has controlling speed and the best post to use it. I don't think he can win this wire-to-wire but he should be able to land a piece. Everyone saw (3) IDEALSOMEMAGIC A get jammed in last week, so obviously he's playable. Brennan gets the drive with Stratton committed to #2.
Race 7: NW16021 in last 5 starts Pace
As poorly as (2) JACK'S LEGEND N and (3) SEMI TOUGH raced in their respective Borgata divisions they now face much weaker and neither has an excuse not to prosper. I'll give the edge to #2 as at least he had legitimate excuses recently. (1) HICKFROMFRENCHLICK figures to be up close to the action and can land a share.
Race 8: MGM Borgata Pacing Series Leg #4
(2) AMERICAN COURAGE was ready to roll off the bench and raced well but was picked off late in round one, and last week he found the winner's circle with a game uncovered score in a tight finish all around. From this post he's the one to beat. (6) THIS IS THE PLAN was much better last start though he still weakened a bit and was caught; is Yannick firing off the gate again? (5) LEONIDAS A gapped winner's cover and tired in round three; he better turn things around in a hurry.
Race 9: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace
(4) ROSE RUN X-CON hasn't done a whole lot recently but he's been facing better in all of those starts and he now meets a field that's been equally camera-shy of late. He should offer good value here. (3) PACE N PRIDE N got nailed on the wire after cutting the mile last start in a time that was faster than most of these have been going. Peter Tritton is still looking for that first win. (2) TIME TO DANCE has backed up in his last two but this is an easier spot.
Race 10: NW13131 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) CAPTAINS PLACE took advantage of a slightly longer run into the first turn in last week's 1 1/16 mile pace as he cleared quickly from post eight, then popped the pocket for the upset. Devita trainee steps up in class but may be sharp enough to take another. (5) KOOTENAY SANTANNA ships in for Burke off a winning effort at Pocono and he gets Gingras back in the bike looking to build on that effort. (4) JAHAN HANOVER gets some class relief after finishing second to a sharp rival and he's likely leaving the gate again despite the speed presence inside of him.

Race 11: NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace
I've been stuck on (5) SPEED MAN N for a few starts now and I know this veteran is capable of better. We may be seeing an off-the-pace try tonight as what should be a healthy price. (3) BOILING OAR wired a notch lesser first time with Stratton driving and he's in the bike again; sharp sort should be a player here. (2) DELIGHTFUL DUDE N also steps up off a good win and draws well again but loses Brennan to #1
Race 12: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) IM SIR BLAKE A was ambitiously placed in the Borgata and only managed one small check through three races. He drops to a much more manageable level tonight and the $200K earner from a year ago is in a good spot to post a mild upset. (4) SPLASH BROTHER totally blew away lesser fields in his last two and he's got the back class to handle better. (2) TIN ROOF RAIDER A raced well in his first start for these connections then never really got involved in his last two. He moves out of claimers tonight and draws better.
