2023 MEET STATS: 66 - 194 / $300.00 (-$88.00) BEST BETS: 11 - 18 / $34.00 (-$2.00) Best Bet: THE REGULATOR (4th) Spot Play: CAPTIVATE HANOVER (9th) Race 1: NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace (6) JUDDY DOUGLAS A returns from Freehold, where he beat their top class in back-to-back weeks from the eight hole, and was a winner with a notch lesser here last month. Travis Alexander trainee has really found his stride as he goes for four straight overall. (1) BAD TOTHE BONE N somehow ended up too far back to threaten last week but he draws well again and showed good early speed recently when Bartlett was in the bike. (2) GENIUS MAN rallied to the front but got a bit tired late and had to settle for third in his last start. Bucci trainee is in good shape and does fit well with these. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace (3) I'LL DRINK TO THAT goes out for a new barn now and recently qualified effectively at Pocono. 5-year-old is narrowing in on $500K lifetime through just 54 starts and he seems well-placed here. (6) SHADOW CAT has done some of his better work locally and despite landing outside in his Yonkers return I can't imagine Bartlett wants to be sitting last with him. (2) HEEZ OURPERSEUS N basically had nothing to offer in his U.S. debut and he loses Stratton to the top choice. Connections have had plenty of success with these types over the years and we'll see if this one can show improvement. Race 3: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace (1) DELIGHTFUL TERROR gets major class and post relief tonight; Gillis trainee should be able to work out the winning trip. (4) OURRHYTHMNBLUES N has been super in his last two and merits major respect here despite another bump up in class. (3) HICKFROMFRENCHLICK hasn't won in quite some time but he does fit with this type and figures to be forwardly placed. Race 4: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace (1) THE REGULATOR jogged two back and was a close second to a good winner in his last try. Engblom/Bartlett connections have been commanding plenty of respect recently and this gelding is clearly the one to catch. (3) PRETTY HANDSOME has disappointed a bit recently but he gets away from some tough rivals tonight. (2) ODDS ON PICK SIX was invisible in his last two at Dover but was doing some good work here in prior starts with Brennan driving. Race 5: $30,000 Claiming Pace - $10K Gtd. Pick 5 Pool (3) MAJOR DESIRE picked up his game in a big way last week when Braxton Boyd took over the controls and he faces no standouts here on the slight bump in class. (4) SHERIFF N has had some gaps between his races recently but he was a winner in his last start and Bartlett drives again. (5) BETTER UP got away poorly from the rail last out but did finish with pace; he does have proven early speed however, which could be on display here at a price. Race 6: NW32501 in last 5 starts Pace (3) COVERED BRIDGE put in a solid speed try last week before getting run down by a hot Aussie invader; a similar effort here can definitely get it done. (4) UNDRTHSOUTHRNSUN N has also flashed big speed in his last few races, both here and across the river at The Meadowlands. Bongiorno trainee may also be firing again and in a perfect world these two choices will lineup at the front. (5) CERTIFIABLE has looked like a good claim so far for the Engblom barn. Race 7: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace (1) BENHOPE RULZ N doesn't win all that often but he closed well last week and he gets Gingras back while starting from the innermost post. This just feels like the right spot for this veteran import. (4) ESCAPETOTHEBEACH has early speed and it wouldn't surprise me to see Holland take a flyer off the gate. (5) THE REAL ONE looked good the instant he moved to the rim last week and he rolled by late; he'll be moving fast again in the late stages. Race 8: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace (3) ALEX TYE faces softer and gets much-needed post relief; Siegelman should put this veteran on the front end and he's more than capable of wiring these. (4) STATE SENATOR left some but broke last week when claimed; he picks up Bartlett now for the rejuvenated Blumenfeld barn and he's an interesting option here. (1) VESPA N was aggressively handled in his last couple of races and he can work out a live trip from the rail. Race 9: $40,000 Claiming Pace (6) CAPTIVATE HANOVER has been a good fit at this $40K claiming level for Burke and he's reunited with Yannick; post isn't the best but it should inflate the price a bit. (1) ELWELL was shuffled a bit and flattened in his local return; classy vet lands the rail again. (2) CHANGE STRIDE N is back in claimers and he's been in good form recently; Brennan gets the drive tonight with Kakaley on #1. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 10: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace (8) CENTURY HANNIBAL is fresh stock arriving from Canada into the Engblom barn and he's coming off a sizzling mile at Flamboro; I think he deserves plenty of respect in his local debut despite post eight. (6) RAUKAPUKA RULER N returns from the Meadowlands and he's in a new barn from the last time we saw him at Yonkers. Recent addition to Team Bongiorno clearly knows his way around this oval. (3) SON OF A TIGER N goes second-time Lasix, drops, gets post relief and Stratton drives again. There are some obvious positive angles here. Race 11: $50,000 Claiming Pace Three of the top contenders in here are all debuting for new barns tonight, which makes things interesting. Hoping for value I'll throw (2) TIN ROOF RAIDER A on top. He's had decent success this season at the $40K level and now bumps up a notch for new trainer Blumenfeld, and gets the leading driver in the bike. (3) TOWNLINE ALL GOOD debuts for top connections off two straight wins where he looked overloaded with pace, but I suspect he'll be a major underlay here. (4) LONG WEEKEND A goes to yet another new barn now (Laterza) and he was surprisingly empty in the late stages last week. Can he bounce back? If I knew these things, I would be driving a Mercedes and not a Sentra! [DRF HARNESS: Follow me on Twitter! @drfharnessmatt]
