Yonkers: Analysis for Monday 2/15

MEET STATS: 33 - 109 / $153.00 (-$65.00)
BEST BETS: 6 - 11 / $20.70 (-$1.30)
Best Bet: TWIN B SPEEDO (2nd)
Spot Play: PYRO (10th)
Race 1: $20,000 Claiming Pace
(4) LUCIFERS LEGEND A failed to get involved from the eight hole upon arrival from Ohio despite taking some tote action but he was off some time and likely needed to get acclimated. He meets a competitive field of claimers here but from an improved starting spot and may be worth a look. (1) FOX VALLEY INFERNO enters another new barn via claim and he's been sharp in all recent. (5) GUNPOWDER N has been the King of the $12,500 claimers and his new connections finally move him up in class; last week's effort was incredible, but not enough for me to have him on top facing much better.

Race 2: $30,000 Claiming Pace
(2) TWIN B SPEEDO certainly didn't disgrace himself last week in a winners-over event but his long victory streak was snapped. Veteran is back at the winning level. (3) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN goes for another new barn off the claim looking for three straight. (4) GIVENUPDREAMING fits well with this type but unfortunately he's drawn outside his main competition yet again.

Race 3: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) HEISMAN PLAYER returned from Canada ready for action as he rallied wide off dull cover and rolled by late; he faces a bit better here but may be sharp enough to repeat. (4) ON THE VIRG also steps back up in class off a dominating win and as previously mentioned the Stafford barn has been live since the start of the year. (1) FLYING FINN N drops in class for the third consecutive start but he may be most competitive with even more class relief; we'll see.
Race 4: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace
(1) TALBOTCREEKWHISKEY has shown nothing in two seasonal starts across the river but he was a three-time winner at Yonkers last year and he lands the innermost post with Dexter Dunn signed on to drive. (6) BLACK CHEVRON N wasn't bad last out facing better and the Shane Tritton trainee gets to drop to the NW10000 level; contender. (2) JK MUSICMAN went nowhere in his last two from outside posts; logic would dictate that he'll be more involved with the move inside.
Race 5: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(2) BO MACH finished close up in his two starts after returning from Dover and the gelding almost always puts in a good effort here; drop in class and good post draw makes this guy a prime contender. (4) KASEY JOHN A was a nice two-move winner in his debut for the Alexander barn; he faces better here but may have more to offer. (6) SHERIFF N had a productive U.S debut for Peter Tritton and that was the import's first start in nearly two years; Dube was listed again and he certainly bears watching.
Race 6: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(1) MYKINDACHIP hasn't been great recently but hasn't really been bad either as he's picked up a few minor shares facing better. Five back at this level the near-millionaire was a good second and he seems capable of tripping out tonight. (7) IDEAL STAR N was super two back overcoming an early break to finish third, then he roared home to score last week. He's up in class tonight from a tough outside post but he gets Dunn in the bike (with Marohn committed elsewhere) and should be a good price. (4) RUNRUNJIMMYDUNN N moves in a few spots and could be on the move early.
Race 7: Open Handicap Pace
(4) PAT STANLEY N charged home strongest of all last week to beat NW20000 types and while he hikes to the top level tonight this isn't the toughest Open field ever assembled; Shane Tritton trainee may be sharp enough to get it done. (7) SHNITZLEDOSOMETHIN has plenty of early speed to overcome the outside post. (8) ROCKAPELO was last week's Open winner so he's now assigned post eight; with the speed to his inside it remains to be seen how well he can get away from the gate.

Race 8: NW22000 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) ROLLWITHPAPAJOE has never been one of my favorites but he has been much more consistent of late and came up a nose shy last week to a sharp rival; price should be decent with The Real One sure to be attracting attention. (2) THE REAL ONE finished willingly last week in a needed start and now he gets to drop in class; Lachance trainee obviously makes loads of sense in here but also won't offer much value. (1) MAC'S JACKPOT looked like lock-city two back but failed, then didn't fire last out. Not sure what to do with him now.
Race 9: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(4) CAVIART LUCA was last all the way around twice last week when saddled with post eight facing better. Burke veteran drops back to the winning level tonight. (5) RESPECT OUR FLAG folded up on the front end last out at The Meadowlands but he was facing some solid rivals in that event. Three back he was a 1:50 2/5 winner for Bongiorno. (2) HERRICKROOSEVELT N can motor late if he minds his manners; unsure of the trip here but he can be considered for a share.
Race 10: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace
(5) PYRO added Lasix in his debut for the Garcia-Herrera barn and he was a game front-end winner. Gelding faces better here but Dube sticks with him and perhaps he has more to offer. (2) SPEED MAN N rebounded decently last week with Bartlett at the controls and the Dilloian trainee will right in the thick of the action from this spot. (1) RAUKAPUKA RULER N gets some needed class relief as he drops from the Open ranks and the Pete Tritton trainee is reunited with Stratton.
