Yonkers: Analysis for Monday 2/10

Matt Rose|Feb 07, 2025
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2025 MEET STATS: 29 - 85 / $221.70 (+$51.70)

BEST BETS: 5 - 8 / $17.90 (+$1.90)

BEST BET: ROCKMYSTER N (6th)

SPOT PLAY: ULTIMAROCA (3rd)

Race 1: NW10541 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) RENAISSANCE DEO went evenly as no threat in his two seasonal starts here after arriving from The Meadowlands but the 4YO drops down a notch in class and the Tritton trainee may be in a spot to pick up a live tow. (1) TWIN B HEART THROB dominated versus a bit lesser last week and lands the rail looking to repeat; Brennan drives again. (4) WINDSUN RICKY finished a decent third last out and he’s one of a few potential speed players from the inside of the gate.

Race 2: $40,000 Claiming Pace

(2) SHINE A LIGHT took advantage of last week’s improved post to fire to the front and he held sway an easy winner. Laterza barn has continued to be live with the mid to high-class claimers and this veteran looks to repeat. (5) SADDLE UP is back in the DiDomenico barn via reclaim and he was good in this barn towards the end of last season. (4) MACH N CHEESE was a solid second from out of the eight hole in his latest and he usually offers good value; consider him to round out the exotics.

Race 3: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) ULTIMAROCA steps back up a class despite not having won a race recently but I like the potential for a live stalking trip from this inside post and he should offer a fair price. (6) VENTURESOME ARDEN N stays at the same level as last week’s dominating win and is another who may be a bit overlooked with Bartlett off. (4) NANDOLO N is back with Lauren Tritton at the controls and we know how this classmaster operates, which will be off the pace.

Race 4: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) IDEALSOMEMAGIC A gets major post relief tonight after a streak of four consecutive seven holes. Two of those races were wins and last week he was home in :27 1/5 to pick off a few. (4) FAMILY RECIPE doesn’t win that often as his 3 for 33 record from 2024 indicates and he’s more competitive at lower levels but he does have some early speed and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him forward off the gate. (6) CHURCHVIEWFRANKL IR held pretty well last week after challenging into a strong back half; potential price play underneath.

Race 5: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) SHAKESPEARE gets away from some tough ones at the $50K claiming level and that may be enough to get him over the top. (5) JETT STAR N showed versatility in taking two straight at the NW5000 level and the sharp sort can be right there again. (1) ROLL WITH THE FLOW looked to be knocking on the door prior to last week’s start and he delivered; will need to be even better to repeat.

Race 6: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) ROCKMYSTER N took some curiosity money in his North American debut and was a non-factor from the tough post. Dilloian Jr import moves in a couple of spots and I have a feeling he’ll take money again and be put in play earlier. (2) SHAZAM BLUE CHIP drops, draws well for the Engblom barn; Holland gets the call tonight with Bartlett not here. (4) BOILING OAR could not sustain a two-move effort last week but the Alexander trainee is proven with this type and would be no surprise.

Race 7: $30,000 Claiming Pace

(5) THEFLYINGROCK had missed a month prior to that most recent start and it was a solid try in defeat; he’s off another couple of weeks into tonight’s race but faces a field with many question marks. Worth playing if he projects to be around his 5/1 ML. (1) HEISMAN PLAYER usually gives a good accounting of himself when drawn inside. (4) SAN DOMINO A looks like he may be feeling his age with some less than exciting efforts but Holland is back driving and this gelding could leave the gate swiftly back in the day.

Race 8: $50,000 Claiming Pace

(2) DONTBOTHERMENONE N has done little wrong since joining the Cushing barn and he goes for a fifth win in his last six tries. (1) CUT N RUN N figures to be cutting the mile after another good inside draw. (5) AMERITRIC may have more to show tonight making his second start for the Alexander barn.

Race 9: NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) BLAZING HOME N is a fresh Down-Under import for Larry Stalbaum and something tells me he’s ready to roll off those two winning qualifiers. Upstate-based Matt Athearn is here to catch drive and he’s done well with this barn’s stock in the past. (3) ROCK DIAMONDS N is now on a two-race losing streak but this 12YO can never be discounted; his game is speed so we’ll expect Bongiorno to send him to the front. (1) FOR ONCE INMY LIFE has been tearing it up recently at The Meadowlands for the Stratton barn and he was four for four in the money at Yonkers last year.

Race 10: 3-6YO $30,000 Claiming Pace

(2) MUSIC HALL was close enough to reach last week and he edged by late for the score with Bartlett on the catch drive. Starting from a similar spot tonight he can repeat with Joe B. returning to the bike. (4) I’M THE PRINCE was a nice second in his debut for the Alexander barn and he can certainly take the next logical step off that effort. (6) HARD TO CATCH was first-time Lasix last week and finished well for third; could offer value here at that 12/1 ML.

Race 11: NW10541 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) YNOTTHISHOS was ambitiously placed at the $40K claiming level last week after beating NW5000 types in his Yonkers return. Back down to a softer spot and with the rail draw perhaps the gelding can trip out at a decent price. (5) OCEAN RIDGE N also drops to face softer and he gets the aggressive Holland in the bike. (4) QUALITY BUD picked up a nice check last start for the first time in a while and this classy veteran can never be counted out.
