2025 MEET STATS: 391 - 1272 / $2,243.82 (-$300.18) BEST BETS: 65 - 123 / $209.96 (-$36.04) BEST BET: CAPTAIN ALBANO (2nd) SPOT PLAY: SOUTHWIND PETYR (1st) Race 1: $30,000 Claiming Pace (6) SOUTHWIND PETYR was the selection the last time he dropped to $30K claimers and he won at 34/1. Now back at that winning level and against no standouts he's gotta be the pick again. (4) ROCKIN N TALKIN dropped back to the level of the recent claim and improved with a runner-up effort. Switches to leading driver Bartlett tonight. (3) LYRICAL GENIUS A drops in for a tag tonight off an excusable effort; brother Jordan is back driving the Cory Stratton trainee. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: MGM Grand Prix Pacing Series Leg #3 Is there a scenario where (2) CAPTAIN ALBANO loses? I'm surprised there's show wagering allowed. (3) THE GREEK FREAK got hung out last week but he was good in leg one; may offer a touch of value in the exacta over #1. (1) ENDOFSTORY will probably be sitting the pocket to the top choice and will try to keep up late. Race 3: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace (4) OPTICAL ILLUSION N steps back up a notch off a rated win and the post edge on a couple of of his more notable rivals gives him the tepid call. (8) RACING RAMPAGE is in the softest field he's seen in months but is stuck in the eight hole. Does Kakaley blast? (6) VANDIEMEN BLUECHIP switches to Bartlett and figures to be forwardly placed again after failing from off the pace last out. Race 4: MGM Grand Prix Pacing Series Leg #3 (4) COACHES CORNER could not pass Captain Albano last week after that one rated the pace and there's certainly no shame in that; the way this race shapes up it looks like he's got one obvious main rival - (1) SOHO FIRESTONE A, who draws best again and is proving to be every bit as talented as the top aged pacers in North America. (2) BLAZING HOME N has made money in the series and will do so again here. Race 5: MGM Grand Prix Pacing Series Leg #3 (5) REDWOOD HANOVER continues to draw less than ideal posts through this series as his main competition is inside of him but he can make the front and if he rates kindly enough nobody will catch him. (3) MOSSDALE BEN N was welcomed back to the winner's circle last week after pouncing off a solid pace; he'll be giving his all late. (1) RACING REBEL has been empty through the first two legs but Burke enters him again so maybe he's expecting a better effort. Race 6: 3-6YO $30,000 Claiming Pace (3) WARRIOR FOR TRUTH has been a warrior this year as he makes his 41st start in 2025, and last week was one of the better ones as he went down the road. He picks up Todd McCarthy on the catch drive and remains at a winning level. (6) JUST ENUFF STUFF was hung to dry two back but otherwise he's been solid; enters a new barn, gets the leading driver. (4) ALWAYSCUTTINSCHOOL is a bonafide closing threat. Race 7: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace (1) BLAZE ON N is the latest Down-Under pacer looking to make an impact on these shores. Dilloian Jr. trainee did make a miscue in his YR qualifier but followed that up with a nice one at The Meadowlands so I'm not particularly concerned. (3) NONE BETTOR A gave it an aggressive try last week at 17/1; oldtimer can still compete at a high level. (7) HIMSELF N was uncovered last start and was outbattled but he can leave as well; "Hot Toddy" catch drives. Race 8: MGM Grand Prix Pacing Series Leg #3 (2) SPRING INHIS STEP A didn't get involved until too late last week and settled for fourth but the move inside should alleviate that problem. He'll probably be sitting second of third to #4 and can gun him down late. (4) HUNTINTHELASTDOLAR was in a favorable spot in leg #2 and paid $2.14 for the win. He'll need to go faster tonight. (1) JAMAICAN ROCK A has been a bit overmatched through two legs but he can sit close up and maybe hold off the rest. Race 9: NW26025 in last 5 starts Pace (2) CURLY JAMES A has now had four starts in the U.S. - beaten a neck, beaten a nose, beaten by a half, won by a head. Enough to stress out his backers for sure. Top call having drawn inside his main competition. (4) TYPHOON BANNER N has hit the board in his last three after returning locally; Bongiorno trainee uses a catch driver again in Holland and he fits with these. (3) JUMPINGJACKMAC N faces better coming off his long-awaited win last start. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 10: $40,000 Claiming Pace Interesting that Joe Bongiorno's connections claimed veteran (2) WALKINSHAW N at the end of his 13YO season but he's still got plenty to offer as evidenced by that win last out. Back up in class a notch but has Bartlett again. (5) MUSIC HALL was reclaimed by the Laterza barn for the 87th time, goes for four straight, will be blasting. (4) SPEAKER OF PEACE was racing well prior to a sick scratch so maybe he needed last week's start; Hudson trainee can be a closing threat. Race 11: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace (4) LOU'S SWEETREVENGE returns to Yonkers, where he's had a long (and mostly positive) career; moves back into the Adamczyk barn, gets to enter at a lower conditioned level, picks up Gingras. (2) THEMASKEDCRUSADR N finished third his last three starts in claimers, now in theory faces a bit softer for the leading trainer/driver. (1) ESCAPE TO AMERICA finished well last week, draws best. Figures to be aggressively handled by Dube.
