Yonkers: Analysis for Monday 1/25

2021 MEET STATS: 20 - 50 / $97.30 (-$2.70)
BEST BETS: 2 - 5 / $6.60 (-$3.40)
Best Bet: SOHO LENNON A (3rd)
Spot Play: GREAT VINTAGE (2nd)
Race 1: $20,000 Claiming Pace
(1) DRINKA BEER was ready to go having been off almost a month and put in a good speed try in defeat last week; he deserves another chance with the post edge. (5) FOX VALLEY INFERNO upset the top choice last out and Dunn drives again; he can repeat but obviously won't be 14/1. (7) MAJOR CROCKER A debuts for new connections off the claim but he's stuck outside and hasn't shown early speed in quite some time.

Race 2: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) GREAT VINTAGE paced steadily in his 13-year-old debut and finished third to an equally classy rival; he gets Dexter Dunn in the bike tonight and still appears to have what it takes to get the job done. (1) SOUTHWIND MOROCCAN likely needed that recent start at The Big M with Lasix added; Harris trainee gets class relief in his local return and draws best. (7) SEMI TOUGH was a good second in a start here last month; expect Brennan to be aggressive off the gate.

Race 3: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace
(4) SOHO LENNON A didn't even attempt to leave the gate last week from the eight hole and that obviously sealed his fate early; classy import moves in a few spots while facing softer; no excuses tonight. (2) MACINTOSH N also gets some post relief and should be in line for a nice trip close-up. (1) ORILLIA JOE may very well be sitting the top one's pocket but he needs to show more late.
Race 4: $30,000 Claiming Pace
(6) MACHIAVELLI never got involved last week in a paceless race where the odds-on chalk controlled the action; if Brennan can improve position early even with (5) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN to his inside maybe he can grind by late. The latter isn't as reliable as he used to be but the Tritton trainee still seems the one to catch. (7) GIVENUPDREAMING is a good fit here but must overcome the tough starting spot.
Race 5: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace
(5) MOHAWK WARRIOR was grinding uncovered into a decent back half last week and could not threaten; Stafford barn has been hot to start the season and he deserves another chance. (4) WALKINSHAW N was bet strongly last out and delivered powerfully; he's sharp enough to handle the bump in class. (1) TYMAL PEACEMAKER returns locally for Lachance off a decent effort at The Meadowlands.
Race 6: NW15200 in last 5 starts Pace
(5) LYONS KING failed to get involved in his first two seasonal starts but the Shane Tritton trainee lands in a better spot tonight and I would expect Stratton to get more aggressive with him. (1) TWIN B TUFFENUFF was right there in his last two across the river and the Burke trainee lands the innermost post in his local return. (2) FLYING FINN N was going nowhere in his last two facing better from outside posts but with the move inside he'll be closer to the action and can land a share.
Race 7: Winners over $20,000 in last 5 starts Pace
(4) ROCKAPELO has looked sharp in his last two and the veteran has a live shot to take his third straight. (2) SHNITZLEDOSOMETHIN is clearly feeling good again and the gelding has loads of back class; Dunn drives. (1) ARTIE’S IDEAL was a close second to the top one last week and now draws best; contender.

Race 8: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(5) HERRICKROOSEVELT N closed a ton last week to be second best at a big price; he steps up and loses Stratton but Bartlett gets the catch-drive and the Dilloian import could get it done with a live trip. (3) TURBO HILL never seriously threatened in his seasonal debut but he should be better than that. (2) CAVIART LUCA quarter-moved and showed his class to emerge victorious last out, holding off the top one in the process. Burke-trained millionaire can never be counted out.
Race 9: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace
(1) WINDSUN RICKY ended 2020 with a sharp 1:50 4/5 win at Philly then finished willingly in his next start before never getting involved last week facing better. Stafford trainee can trip out from this spot. (4) ROLLWITHPAPAJOE was second best all the way around last week but consistency has never been his strong suit. (7) MYKINDACHIP faces a bit lesser and he does have some early speed.
Race 10: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace
(5) MAC'S JACKPOT failed as the 2/5 chalk last week but I have to give this guy one more chance, at an improved price. (1) BETTOR MEMORIES was a close second last out and the Burke veteran obviously makes lots of sense here. (3) BO MACH returns locally and has had some success here in the past.
