Yonkers: Analysis for Monday 1/18

2021 MEET STATS: 8 - 20 / $42.00 (+$2.00)
BEST BETS: 1 - 2 / $3.70 (-$0.30)
Best Bet: MAC'S JACKPOT (9th)
Spot Play: FLAMING FLUTTER N (3rd)
Race 1: $20,000 Claiming Pace
(6) HEREHECOMESAROCKIN was ready to go off the holiday break for the Alexander barn and powered away off a pocket trip at a big price last week. He lands in a similar spot tonight and is certainly capable of repeating. (3) DRINKA BEER has been very consistent down at Philly for Garcia-Herrera and lands in a live spot in his local return. (1) DREAM OF LUCK had nothing to offer last week but he probably needed that start and the connections dropped him in for the same price here; Bartlett stays and he seems capable of showing some improvement.

Race 2: $20,000/$25,000 Claiming Handicap Pace
(5) MISSISSIPPI RABBIT is another Garcia-Herrera entrant arriving from Philly who has been looking good in recent starts; he's up a bit in claiming price but certainly doesn't meet any standouts here. Top billing. (3) IN THE HUDDLE gave it a good speed try in his seasonal debut but came up a bit short late; veteran should be a bit tighter back in on consecutive weeks. (4) BRAVO TEX N finished willingly last week and figures to be on the scene in the late stages again.

Race 3: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace
(7) FLAMING FLUTTER N had absolutely no chance trying to close from the back last week in a race that went :58 2/5 to the half but he finished with good pace to finish fourth. Shane Tritton trainee lands a poor post again but must be followed off that effort. (6) KEYSTONE PHOENIX was favored against two very solid rivals in his seasonal debut; class relief will help this guy out. (8) MIGHTY SANTANA N escaped from the pocket too late last week and just missed; similar trip seems unlikely from the eight hole but he deserves a mention.
Race 4: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace
(2) CAVIART LUCA gets meaningful class and post relief tonight; Burke-trained veteran should be ready to roll. (1) FIZZING N gets Dunn back in the bike and from the best post he should be set up with a live trip. (5) MOHAWK WARRIOR raced a couple of times out of town while Yonkers was on hiatus and he's remained sharp.
Race 5: $30,000 Claiming Pace
(1) TWIN B SPEEDO bumps up into a straight $30K claimer looking for his 7th straight tally and he lands another favorable inside post; I'm staying on the bandwagon. (3) RANGERS SURESHOT was racing very well here towards the end of last year and he gets Todd McCarthy in the bike for his local return; contender. (2) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN drops in for a tag tonight and gets Stratton back in the bike; he'll be close to the front and could land a share.
Race 6: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(8) SOHO LENNON A was relegated to a three-hole last week chasing a hot pace facing better and had little to offer when asked. Veteran gets some needed class relief and does have the early speed to overcome the poor starting spot. (1) ALTA LEROY N had plenty of finishing pace last week. (3) ANTHEM N rode the rail last week in a needed start; similar trip seems likely here and that could lead to a board finish.
Race 7: Open Handicap Pace
(4) HESA KINGSLAYER N was uncovered and grinding a long way last week and all he did was successfully tow Let It Ride N to victory while outkicked late. Deters trainee certainly deserves another chance. (5) SPEED MAN N charged home to be second best in last, nipping the top one for second at 99/1; Dunn gets the drive tonight and this import has been deceptively sharp. (3) RAUKAPUKA RULER N could be a bit tighter off last week's needed race.

Race 8: Preferred Handicap Pace
(4) MYKINDACHIP fired from the gate last week, then got a bit jammed in the pocket turning home as the leader was quitting. I'll give the Alexander trainee another try at what should be a good price. (3) ROCKAPELO blew away his competition last week and is certainly sharp enough to repeat. (5) BRONX SEELSTER took money from the outside post but never got involved; will be see more from him tonight? I believe so.
Race 9: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(2) MAC'S JACKPOT was used securing the front last week leaving from the eight hole and hung in gamely until very late; classy veteran appears to lay over these and should jog at a short price. (3) PAT STANLEY N took care of business last out; second best here? (1) SANTAFE’S COACH was fortunate to come away in the pocket last week and just missed; Lachance trainee should be close up again and can land a piece.
Race 10: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace
(4) BETTOR MEMORIES tried to pike it last week facing Let It Ride N & company and that failed miserably. Burke trainee is back where he belongs. (2) TURBO HILL qualified twice in preparation for his 2021 debut and Dunn keeps the drive. (5) TOOKADIVEOFFDIPPER flashed good speed in his debut for the Lachance barn and he's got plenty of back class.
