Race 1: $40,000 Claiming Pace
(4) ARRHYTHMIC SURGE needs a good pace to close into as he's usually a late runner but he looks the best of the locals in here and gets top billing. (2) NOME HANOVER finds a great spot to do serious damage upon arrival from Pocono; he's won four of five. (3) HEART OF DIXIE has been solid since the barn change to Devita.

Race 2: NW15036 in last 5 starts Pace
(1) COACHES CORNER has been a monster for Engblom as he has kept up his form from the Indiana fair circuit; 3YO gets a test as he faces much more seasoned rivals but I think he's up to it. (6) UNDRTHSOUTHRNSUN N drops down to a level where he's usually more effective and he has fired from the outside post in the past; he's definitely a value player. (3) LUCKBEWITHALEX faces an uncertain trip with the speed to his inside but he's capable.

Race 3: 3-5YO $50,000 Claiming
(1) MY MIKI BEACH has been right there in the photo in his last four, with only one win to show for it. Dillioan trainee lands the rail and has controlling speed for driver Jim Pantaleano. (7) RJ SPORTS IMAGE looks to be tailing off but he does face a bit softer here and has the early speed at his disposal to land a close-up trip. (5) SHAKESPEARE was a nice winner last week off the claim and could have some pace to rally into again.
Race 4: NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace
(5) SEMI TOUGH has a bit of a class edge on these as the Burke trainee is a legit Open player; Gingras drives again and he figures to try pushing off the gate with #4 to his inside. (4) CERTIFIABLE finally gets some post relief, not that he really needs it as he has the early speed to loop most fields into the turn. Super-sharp Engblom trainee is a major player again. (1) LOU'S SWEETREVENGE steps back up off a narrow loss but he can handle this kind; lack of early speed means he's probably first-over and if the pace is well rated it will make the task harder.
Race 5: Open Handicap 1-2, 3-6 drawn Pace - $10K Gtd. Pick 5
Good field here for six horses. (3) COVERED BRIDGE was able to slide down into a NW30000 race last week and took advantage by going wire to wire at 15 cents on the dollar. Gillis trainee is coming close to wrapping up a tremendous season as he's inching towards $500K and regular driver Stratton has options from this post. (4) BACKSTREET SHADOW has also had an extremely productive season and the Alexander trainee does loom large for a big piece from the improved post. (5) AMERICAN MERCURY draws to the outside of his main competition which may limit his options but he's sharp enough to find his way into the number.
Race 6: 3YO $30,000 Claiming Pace
(2) PANETTONE HANOVER hasn't done much facing mostly lower-level stakes foes but Burke is a master at finding the perfect classification for his endless supply of horses and this 3YO drops in for a tag, likely at a competitive price; Gingras drives. (5) SHUFFLE UP HANOVER missed a head last out at odds-on; gets another chance from a similar post. (1) WE SHALL SEA cut the mile last week and tired to third; Cory S drives again and probably will be stalking tonight.

Race 7: NW22201 in last 5 starts Pace
(7) DESPERATE MAN steps up off a loss and is outside again but the difference is tonight he'll be a price; I'll take a stab. (1) HICKFROMFRENCHLICK is one of the main speeds in here and leaving from the rail gives Marohn options. (3) ITSALLABOUTFAITH picks up Gingras and lands an improved post; four back he was a winner at this level from a similar post.
Race 8: NW31561 in last 5 starts Pace
(4) MOONSHINE KISSES really is an amazing horse as he goes for win #15 tonight, almost always racing at the top levels. Veteran faces some good ones but deserves top billing. (6) THIS IS THE PLAN is no longer a top stakes pacer, and maybe not even an Open-type horse anymore, but he's still a hard-knocker who deserves consideration; back to Yannick. (2) GROOVY JOE draws well enough to land a good share, with an outside chance of winning if things go his way.
Race 9: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace
(8) POINTOMYGRANSON gets major class relief tonight as he drops from the $50K claimers into this soft NW10000 field. Yes, he's got the eight hole but he has shown early speed in the past and maybe catch-driver Gingras takes a shot off the gate at a price. (4) BOILING OAR returns from Pocono off two decent runner-up efforts and should also offer value in a race where it's tough to take a short price on anyone. (6) BUDDY HILL dropped and popped last week and now steps back up a notch.
