BEST BET - HIGHVIEW CONALL N (1st)
SPOT PLAY - GRATIAN HANOVER (9th)
Race 1 - 12500CLM Pace
(2) HIGHVIEW CONALL N absolutely jogged back on the 21st of September and since he draws inside again for the same claiming tag, I'll have to put him on top at the very low odds that are coming. (1) REASONABLE FORCE drops from the $15,000 claimers down at Harrah's Philadelphia and might be able to tow along behind my top pick in the two-hole. (8) ZOEEZ BOY HENRY takes a big plunge down to the $12,500 claiming class after finishing second against $20,000 claiming company last time out. This horse hasn't shown a whole lot of early foot, so maybe Siegelman will float and hope for a hole.
Race 2 - NW2/25000LT Pace
(5) MCNEIL Z TAM is about a certainty to get overbet but did close very well from post eight last Monday and switches pilots to Marohn Jr., so I guess I'll be on board, too. (3) SOCIAL THEORIES pounced after a stalking trip to break his maiden in try #20 a week ago. Sometimes once a horse finally wins, they come right back and do it again, especially when in the same class like this son of Bettor's Delight is. (1) FAR BETTER was here back in the summer and was in the NW2's when Wyatt J was dominating. There's no horse like that in here, though, and he gets Bartlett to drive.
Race 3 - NW5000L5 Pace
(6) MARINER SEELSTER usually fares pretty well when in the NW5000L5 class and is reunited with Bartlett tonight. (3) BIG BAD BILL couldn't get the job done as the favorite on 9-21 but did have to do the hard work first-over. Any smoother trip tonight increases his chances of success. (2) ROCK ON MOE slides inside to post two after having two straight eight-holes. That was a nice close from last to fourth back on the 21st of September.
Race 4 - NW5000L5 Pace
(6) SUNKEN TREASURE cruised to an easy win over NW5000L5's back in early August, and though he hasn't had much success since, he did finish with some interest on 9-21 and might be ready for a more aggressive steer. (2) MILLIONDOLLAR WAVE seems overdue for a wakeup call, and maybe it'll come here as he shifts inside and meets up with a wide-open group. He gets another chance with Stratton in the bike. (4) ALEPPO HANOVER switches drivers back to Brennan and did have one second-place finish at this level on 8-31.
Race 5 - NW4/50000LT Pace *$7,500 GTD Pick-5 Pool*
(7) ROGERTHAT BLUECHIP came in third behind Ehrmantraut on 9-21, and that horse returned the following Monday to beat NW8's, so that looks like a solid effort based on that. He might be able to out-foot these to the front, even from this outside draw. (2) SAILBOAT HANOVER had a pretty good year in the PA Stallion Series, and this is probably a tad easier than the NW5 class at Harrah's Philadelphia. (6) MISTER REBBILY A makes his second start off the qualifier tonight and owns a prior victory over NW4's at Yonkers back on the 10th of August.
Race 6 - NW7500L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW5000L5 Pace
(6) PERFECTLY CLOSE drew in off the also-eligible list to start in this wide-open race. He comes in off a third-place effort against NW7500L5's most recently, and I don't mind Stratton picking up the drive. (5) JET ROCK slides down a notch from the NW10000L5's and won over NW5000L5's on August the 24th. (4) ART HISTORY has tailed off some since that good run he got on back in July and August, but he gets a bit of class relief tonight, and that could definitely turn things around.
Race 7 - NW10000L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW7500L5 Pace
(1) CAVIART REAGAN was not Bartlett's choice, but he drops after a fourth-place effort as the favorite versus NW15000L5's, and I think can control the race or sit the pocket from the pole position with Marohn Jr. in the bike. (5) ZACH MAGUIRE N rallied well to finish third in the same race my top pick comes out of and returns to the level where he was victorious two back. (7) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN won in the NW10000L5 class on 9-14 and shifts back to it here after closing in 26 4/5 against NW15000L5's on 9-25. Not sure he'll have an easy time getting involved, but could add some value underneath.
Race 8 - NW8/100000LT Pace
(2) GLOBALDOMINATION N seems like he never draws inside, so the fact he did for once is probably something his connections would like to take advantage of. He rallied strongly last Monday and should be much closer to the action this time. (1) EHRMANTRAUT had no problem with the step up to the NW8 class a week ago as he just sat outside first-over and pushed past in the lane like he did in his victory over NW4's prior to that. He moves to the pole this time and is likely to be a threat again. (4) CAVIART ROCKLAND has won at Yonkers before and gets some post relief of his own after having the ten and the eight in his last pair at the Meadowlands and Pocono.
Race 9 - NW15000L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW10000L5 Pace
(8) GRATIAN HANOVER landed another bad post but was able to finish third from the seven-hole against NW20000L5's on 9-18. I'll hope the drop offsets the draw and use. (2) WARDAN EXPRESS A has finished second or third in his last four, and unlike my top choice, he moves inside after a series of mid-pack posts. (4) BETTOR THAN SPRING shows finishing third a couple times in the Open at Northfield back in August and ships east off a win in Ohio. He appears to be a nice addition to the Ed Hart barn.
