Yonkers: Analysis for Monday 10/30

Matt Rose|Oct 27, 2023
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2023 MEET STATS: 414 - 1161 / $2,162.70 (-$159.30)

BEST BETS: 61 - 108 / $201.90 (-$14.10)

BEST BET: ROCKIN JUKEBOX (1st)

SPOT PLAY: LOU'S SWEETREVENGE (5th)

Race 1: $50,000 Claiming Pace

(5) ROCKIN JUKEBOX won't offer any price but he's been the sharpest and most proven one at this level and Bongiorno will be hustling him out of there. (1) ALOTBETTOR N has rallied nicely in his last three and really hasn't put in a bad effort in ages. He steps up in class but does get needed post relief. (2) POINTOMYGRANSON gets Brennan back in the bike and maybe that helps him out.

Race 2: 3-5YO $50,000/$75,000 Claiming Pace

(2) STRIKING IMPACT had no realistic chance in his last two but now he drops in for the lower tag and gets the post relief he needs. Kakaley can trip out with the gelding. (7) CERTIFIABLE was nipped by #5 last week ending his streak; Engblom trainee will be heading to the front again looking to rebound. (5) MY MIKI BEACH beat the favorite from the pocket; can lightning strike twice? It's possible.

[DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!]

Race 3: 3-5YO $30,000 Claiming Pace

(6) FUGLEMAN raced reasonably well here when in the NW conditioned ranks and he returns now in for a tag facing some questionable rivals. 3YO could be a decent price for top connections. (3) ODDS ON PICK SIX is the most accomplished of these and he's coming off a win at the NW5000 level; DiDomenico trainee is the most logical here. (1) WE SHALL SEA has been razor-sharp up at Monti with driver Cory Stratton, who is in the bike again tonight.

Race 4: 3-5YO $50,000 Claiming Pace

(3) SHAKESPEARE was claimed out of his last race for $50K by the Daguet barn, who had this gelding a few months back with some success. Bartlett picks up the drive from this reasonable post. (6) TUGGIN ON MY HEART stepped up to this claiming level last week and wired the field from the eight hole. I'll assume similar tactics will be in play tonight. (4) EMINEM HANOVER has been steadily improving and seems like a viable candidate on the bottom of the ticket at a big price.

Race 5: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) LOU'S SWEETREVENGE has been facing better in all recent and four back he was a solid grinding winner. He doesn't have a ton of early speed but he's proven he can take air first-up and get the job done. (5) RJ SPORTS IMAGE does have early speed and Bartlett will likely be sending him off the car. (3) HICKFROMFRENCHLICK also drops a notch in class and draws towards the inside of the gate. Classy veteran can be forwardly placed as well.

Race 6: Open Handicap (1-3,4-5 drawn; 6-7 assigned) Pace

(6) AMERICAN MERCURY was hustled off the gate at a big price in his last start, sat a trip and nipped #7 at the wire. He lands in a similar spot tonight and there may be a clear path to the front. (7) BACKSTREET SHADOW is right back in the box after failing to make the Breeders Crown final and his speed has made him most effective lately, but he's classy enough to come from behind as well. (5) IDEALSOMEMAGIC A has Stratton back driving and the post edge on the top two could make things interesting if Jordan wants to get aggressive.

Race 7: NW30501 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) COVERED BRIDGE drops from the Open and moves inside after three consecutive tough spots. Amazingly this guy is closing in on $500K for the year and he should handle these as the favorite. (6) KARLOO BRADLEY N has lost his last three races by a combined half a length. The import only has one win since arriving but really has done nothing wrong. Tough spot here, but good price. (1) PEACE OUT POSSE is a sharp sort moving up to face significantly tougher. We'll see if the Bongiorno trainee is up for it.

Race 8: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) JACK'S LEGEND N just missed in his last couple ad I assume from this spot there will be no fooling around tonight. Alexander trainee can take the lead and never look back. (1) SEVEN HUNDRED missed a half last start; He's got Bartlett again departing from the rail. (4) QUALITY BUD has disappointed a bit in his last couple of starts but the veteran has bounced back numerous times and he's a viable candidate to make the ticket.

Race 9: $40,000 Claiming Pace

(1) WON LAST FEELING was a bit overmatched in his last few at the $50K claiming level but he drops back to 40's where he was a strong winner a month ago. (3) BALLERAT BOOMERANG was claimed again last start, this time back to the Temming barn, and he keeps Brennan from a good spot. (2) REAL PEACE was run down last week and will try to make amends.
