Spot Play: SAILBOAT HANOVER (1st)
Race 1: $50,000 Claiming Pace
(2) SAILBOAT HANOVER has been raging with pace for these connections since being claimed for $30K four starts back; he faces some legit talent in here but deserves top billing. (3) BENJI'S BEST hasn't put in a bad effort in recent memory and seems like a must-use on the ticket. (4) EL JACKO N moves in a few spots on the gate and figures to be more involved.

Race 2: NW31401 in last 5 starts Pace
(1) NANDOLO N took care of business last week in his local return and pretty much gets a free ride here facing similar. He's no lock, but the most logical winner in this abbreviated field. (3) PRETTY HANDSOME woke up last start with a much-improved effort and he can add some value underneath. (4) BUDDY HILL was nipped late by Venier Hanover in his last start, ending his modest winning streak. Alexander trainee can go with these.

Race 3: NW17251 in last 5 starts Pace
(2) CAN B PERFECT rode a good trip to victory last week and finds himself in a similar spot. Holland gets the drive tonight as Bartlett has a Dowse piece in here. (1) DIAMOND BEACH has jogged in two straight as he's making his way back up the class ladder; hat trick is not out of reach. (3) KINGSVILLE found life at the NW20000 level a bit tougher than what the filly was facing. He still paced in 1:52 3/5, however.
Race 4: $50,000 Claiming Pace
(3) BALLARAT BOOMERANG was a pocket-sitting winner last week and could be looking at a similar journey tonight, possibly behind (5) B LIKE CRUISER, who is back with Choate off the reclaim and he was a winner for that barn three back. (1) MACH DORO A lands inside again and I'm sure Dube will be looking to protect position, but may end up third anyway.
Race 5: $40,000 Claiming Pace
(3) BETTOR BE OSCAR A came up just short in his debut for the Dowse barn and he finds a pretty soft spot here as he moves back into claimers; gelding is clearly the one to beat. (7) BECKHAMS Z TAM hasn't done much lately but he does drop from 50's to 40's and picks up the aggressive Holland in the bike; perhaps we will see some activity off the gate at a big price in a field lacking early speed. (1) WEONA SIZZLER A also drops after being overmatched at the 50K level; Braxton is back driving and they teamed up for a 120/1 win a couple of months ago.
Race 6: $75,000 Claiming Pace
(1) VENIER HANOVER is a story for the ages...from formless afterthought in the basement conditioned level to odds-on favorite going for six in a row while priced at $75K. Apparently all it took was a barn change. (3) SMOKIN BY N is back in for a tag after winning two straight, his latest in a sparkling 1:51 4/5. (7) DON DOMINGO N has won four of five but is stuck outside tonight.
Race 7: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(1) WALKINSHAW N was severely overbet last week and could only muster a third-place finish. He figures to be a better price tonight despite the post relief. (4) ESCAPETOTHEBEACH went really sour in a hurry but he's capable of much better. (5) VELOCITY KOMODO woke up last week on the class drop and the Cory Stratton trainee gets to drop another notch.

Race 8: Open Pace
(1) LEONIDAS A finished well to be second best in his return to the races and now he lands all the way inside with this open draw. Classy gelding should be tough to beat. (4) SEMI TOUGH used speed tactics in his last two that led to a win and a good third facing NW30000 types. Bump back up to the Open ranks shouldn't dissuade the Burke trainee from putting in a good performance. (2) NONE BETTOR A was last week's Open winner after being left alone on the front end. He's capable of repeating but will have to work harder.
Race 9: $75,000 Claiming Pace
(5) RUNRUNJIMMYDUNN N recently missed four months of action but has now taken two straight since returning and the Dowse-trained import will be favored again to win again. He could cap off a chalky evening. (1) BELTANE A is back in for a tag and is capable of holding his position from the rail to work out a live stalking trip. (4) THE REGULATOR was a good second last week at 81/1 and figures to offer value again tonight from a similar spot.
