Greg Reinhart|Oct 16, 2020
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 173 - 529 / $1,029.10 (-$19.50)
BEST BETS: 31 - 55 / $106.50 (-$3.50)
SPOT PLAYS: 8 - 55 / $55.00 (-$55.00)
BEST BET -
NATIONAL SEELSTER (3rd)
SPOT PLAY - GENIUS MAN (9th)

Race 1 - 12500CLM Pace

(3) DEERFIELD BEACH rewarded us with a nice 10-1 score last Monday as he completely destroyed that group. I won't expect the same price, but I do think he's a double-up candidate and will use again. (2) AMRCANBOOTSCOOTA A has two wins and a second in his three tries in this class in the last five weeks and kept Siegelman's services. (1) ER ROCK MY WORLD finished third at this level on 9-9 and has been down at Freehold since then. He picks up Stratton tonight and trainer Chris Height has been sending out some live horses.

Race 2 - NW2/25000LT Pace

(1) NOTHING TO PROVE is a newcomer from the Canadian Maritimes for Scott DiDomenico. This horse was a regular stakes competitor up there, and is a four-time winner in his career, giving him a leg up on these, I think. (3) ROLL WITH DOM gets an improved post to work with this week after he had to work to get to the front last Monday and then gave way in the lane. (2) MCNEIL Z TAM burned a lot of money a couple Mondays ago when he was second at 1-2. Trainer Pat Lachance takes back over at the controls, and I'll slot underneath.

Race 3 - NW5000L5 Pace

(3) NATIONAL SEELSTER meets up with a pretty weak bunch tonight and has finished his miles better in the last couple weeks. (1) GALACTIC GALLEON N drops a notch after finishing sixth a week ago against NW7500L5's and retains Bartlett. He's another one looking for a bit of a wakeup call. (4) HESALLABOUTDABASS rallied from eighth to second in a NW5000L5 back on 8-28, and though he hasn't done much since, this wouldn't be the first Laterza horse to take advantage of catching a group like this one.

Race 4 - NW5000L5 Pace

(4) DARK ENERGY N scored the last time he got to race in a NW5000L5 on the 25th of August. He's been racing better and/or been stuck with outside posts since, but draws well tonight and is reunited with Bartlett. (1) D M JOHNWICK won in facile fashion against NW2500L5's down at Harrah's Philadelphia is his most recent effort. He has plenty of half-mile track experience from up in Canada and races out of the high-percentage Nik Drennan barn. (2) DRAGONOLOGY is sure to get some attention as he lands at the bottom level after finishing fourth against NW7500L5's on October 10th. I'll play against since he hasn't won since back in July, although that was against NW10000L5's.

Race 5 - NW7500L5/Winner Last Start of the Class NW5000L5 Pace *$7,500 GTD Pick-5 Pool*

(4) TIGER BARON gained some ground and spots in the last quarter a week ago against NW10000L5's and gets some class and post relief here. (1) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN defeated NW10000L5's back on 9-14 and drops from that class tonight, plus he moves all the way from post eight to the pole position. (8) HEISMAN PLAYER raced competitively against NW8's at Yonkers back in the summer and was loaded with pace but couldn't find any room two back at the Meadowlands. Maybe he can find a way on to the ticket at long odds.

Race 6 - NW4/50000LT Pace

(4) REDDING HANOVER invades from Pocono where he's faced stout NW4 company in his last pair. I'll shoot for a price in the hopes that this crew is a little easier and he can perform something like his win three back. (2) LOTTERY WINNER broke behind the gate last Monday but did finish with a final quarter of 27 4/5. I'll anticipate some equipment adjustments and Bongiorno should know him better now. (8) SOCIAL THEORIES won two straight over NW2's and hikes up here. He does move outside, but Stratton has a knack for working out good trips from out here, and I'll hope he can do that here.

Race 7 - NW7600L5/Winner Last Start of the Class NW5000L5 Pace

(2) PERFECTLY CLOSE remains winless in 2020 but did go a big mile two back in finishing third and draws inside after having post eight last Monday. Dube gets a shot with him. (5) OURLITTLEGENERAL A was second in a NW10000L5 when last at Yonkers on 9-28 and raced well at the Meadowlands in his last try, closing in 27 1/5 to get third. (1) PEPPER GUY squeezes into this race by $75 since they opened it up to non-winners of $7,600 in their last five starts. He came in third against NW10000L5's on the 10th of October and won in the corresponding class to this one down at Harrah's Philadelphia on September 7.

Race 8 - NW15000L5/Winners in Last Start of the Base Class NW10000L5 Pace

(2) IDEAL JIMMY normally does his best work in this class and moves in from post seven to post two. He also gets a chance to partner with Mark MacDonald since Brent Holland isn't here tonight. (3) KERFORD ROAD A came in second in a NW15000L5 on 9-15 and has significant post relief as he drew post three after having the seven-hole on the 10th of October. (6) HEAVEN'S GAIT returns from Pocono here. He was in the Open Handicap when last at Yonkers on September 18, finishing fourth, and won easily over NW25000L5's as recently as late July.

Race 9 - NW8/100000LT Pace

(7) GENIUS MAN closed well a week ago to finish third against NW8's, and he had a little gap in his schedule coming into that race since he'd been idle since making the Little Brown Jug final on 9-24. I'll expect him to offer some value, and I'll look for him to complete a Mark MacDonald/Erv Miller late double. (1) MARK WITHA K has now won three in-a-row after sharing in a victory last Monday. He's shown the ability to win in various styles too - on the lead, first-up, and from well off-the-pace. (6) ITS A MARCS WORLD was the king of Minnesota this year, winning the championship for 3-year-old male pacers in the Land of 10,000 Lakes in his last start out there. Rob Harmon has done well with horses that invade from that part of the country before here.
