MEET STATS: 355 - 1010 / $1,785.30 (-$234.70) BEST BETS: 56 - 95 / $212.40 (+$22.40) Best Bet: VENIER HANOVER (8th) Spot Play: TIN ROOF RAIDER A (1st) Race 1: $40,000 Claiming Pace (5) TIN ROOF RAIDER A has been a check-earning machine lately but is stuck on just one seasonal win; this seems like a spot where Holland could have him forwardly placed and he can take this with a good trip. (3) ROCK LIGHTS is a bit overmatched at the $50K claiming level and this is clearly a softer spot; the Cory Stratton trainee does have a nice move in him and he can reach from this post. (2) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN double-jumped to this level off the recent claim and he was a good second last week to the well-meant winner; he loses Bartlett however to the Dowse-trained (7) SHINE A LIGHT, who figures to be on the move early. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: $50,000 Claiming Pace (3) THE DOWNTOWN BUS jogged two back in $30's, jogged last start in $40's and now finds a very soft spot at the $50K claiming level. Dowse trainee will be odds-on to capture another. (7) MACH DORO A broke before the start last week and was far back and now he's stuck all the way outside but the Garcia-Herrera is really the only proven entity at this claiming class. He'll be a solid price and if Dube can somehow get him involved he can come away with a nice share. (1) ROCKATHON gets major post relief in his return to claimers and he does have early speed. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: $75,000 Claiming Pace (3) RUNRUNJIMMYDUNN N has been a classy import for years and he goes for his fourth in a row tonight; another short price looming. (1) SMOKIN BY N was second best from the pocket last week to another streaking Dowse trainee and from this spot he's the most likely candidate to complete the exacta. (4) CHIEF'S BEACH has completed the tri in two of his last three, why not again? Race 4: NW32921 in last 5 starts Pace (4) SPLASH BROTHER lost touch from the eight hole in last week's snoozefest of an Open but he gets class and post relief tonight, and should offer a bit more value than the logical (1) COVERED BRIDGE. The latter came out of the same race as the top one and finished with pace in another solid effort; Gillis trainee looms large. (7) SPEED MAN N is the third one in here dropping from the Open and that was his first start off the bench so not much was expected. He switches back to Bartlett tonight and has plenty of early speed. Watch the board. Race 5: $40,000 Claiming Pace (5) AMERICAN BOY N rallied for the 5th place check from too far back last out but was a winner the start prior facing similar. I wonder if we see some speed from the old guy tonight.(4) BETTER BE OSCAR A has been unable to seal the deal in two starts after being taken by Dowse for $40K and he'll be a short price again. (6) GOTHIC ROCK upset the chalk last week and he goes for three straight yet figures to be a big price again. Race 6: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace (1) FAMILY RECIPE did just enough last week to not only drop in class but also suck everyone in tonight. (5) BELTANE A also drops and will attract plenty of attention picking up Bartlett, with regular driver Marohn opting off. (2) OAKWOODNITTOWNIT IR has a win and a close second since Lasix was added; good post here to do some damage. Race 7: $50,000 Claiming Pace Good race with most horses capable of winning. Perhaps overlooked a bit will be (1) CHANGE STRIDE N, who hasn't really been bad in any recent starts at the $75K claiming level but takes an important drop to the 50's. Braxton Boyd gets the drive again and he should be in line for a reasonable trip from the rail. (8) BALLERAT BOOMERANG is one of about 20 Dowse claimers that has "1's" and "2's" all over his lines. Eight hole could make things difficult, but he can also strike from off the pace. (3) SHERIFF N gets needed post relief and will be more involved. Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter Race 8: $75,000 Claiming Pace (1) VENIER HANOVER is in the midst of just a ridiculous form spree, which started as soon as the 33%-winning Gareth Dowse took over. Who is going to beat him here? (6) DON DOMINGO N was reclaimed by DiDomenico two back and he too has been razor-sharp. Last week he closed well from too far back. Perhaps he's a bit closer to the leader tonight. If Brennan doesn't try leaving with #6, does Stratton take a stab with (7) RAUKAPUKA RULER N? It's not impossible. Race 9: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace (3) MISTER DONALD A was stuck in post eight in his local return and now he moves inside while facing a touch softer. He was a three-time winner at Yonkers last season and there should be some value here. (2) MIGHTY SANTANA N also lands in a much better spot and was Jordan's choice, driving for his brother. (5) LONG WEEKEND A was a good third two back versus 50K claimers; board threat here with a reasonable trip. [DRF HARNESS: Follow me on Twitter! @drfharnessmatt]
