Yonkers: Analysis for Friday 9/25

MEET STATS: 157 - 464 / $818.70 (-$109.30)
BEST BETS: 25 - 44 / $78.60 (-$9.40)
Best Bet: I'M SOME GRADUATE (7th)
Spot Play: AMERICAN MERCURY (5th)
Race 1: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace
(6) CINNABAR DRAGON has just one win on the season and has shown little in his last four Mohawk tries but he ships south, joins the Andrew Harris barn and was Bartlett's choice. Pacer may be able to turn things around in a hurry. (3) GHOST DANCE also travels south of the border and that was a decent wakeup effort last start at Grand River; he faced better here earlier this season. (2) ALEPPO HANOVER could not sustain a two-move try from the outside post last out but was a good second the start prior from a similar spot.
Race 2: NW15000 in last 5 starts Trot
(4) CASH ME OUT has loads of experience and class; veteran trotter returns locally off an easy front-end score at Plainridge and looks to take another as Siegelman's choice. (1) FASHION CREDITOR gave it a good try last week but was run down by Melady's Monet and the trip-sitter; no shame in that. (3) TOP FLIGHT ANGEL continues to ascend the class ladder and he gets Buter in the bike subbing for Stratton; he would be no surprise but I'm not in love with him for the top spot.
Race 3: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace
(1) SPORTS TEEN looked like a completely new horse with last week's powerful performance. Harris trainee can take another with a similar effort. (6) AMERICAN BOY N was just nipped last out and the veteran gets to drop in class another notch; Cassar trainee looks like the main threat. (5) MAROMA BEACH jogged at the basement level two back then wasn't a serious player last week; he lands in the middle of those two levels tonight and should find a way to carve out a piece.
Race 4: Preferred Handicap Trot
(7) STORMY KROMER showed a new dimension last out by rallying sharply from off the pace to upset. Trotter is on an insane form spree and has to be respected again despite his outside post assignment. (6) OBRIGADO faltered late in the mile despite getting away with a :29 opening quarter last out; overall this $1.8-million winner has been rock-solid and he may be the one to catch again. (2) NOWS THE MOMENT promises to be close to the action throughout and he could last for a share.
Race 5: Open Handicap Pace
(3) AMERICAN MERCURY hasn't been bad since returning for his 4-year-old season but he hasn't been able to break through into the win column; this looks like a perfect spot for the Pelling trainee to finally get it done. (4) FLAMING FLUTTER N loses his regular pilot as Stratton is out of town but the Shane Tritton trainee seems talented enough and could provide solid value. (8) MICKY GEE N unleashed his powerful late kick to sweep the field last week in a race where you could sense early that he would be coming strong. He lands outside again and also loses Stratton; mixed feelings.
Race 6: NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) KILLER MARTINI somehow hasn't hit the board in 10 starts this year but we've seen this guy surprise out of nowhere many times in the past. Worth a look in a field with no standouts. (5) TALBOTCREEKWHISKEY was a sharp winner two back at Pocono but didn't get involved last out for his new barn; Bartlett drives tonight and he could fit well here. (6) MCARDLES LIGHTNING gets some needed class relief and could show more.
Race 7: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(2) I'M SOME GRADUATE returns from Ohio for Burke and he will undoubtedly be controlling the action here; veteran is the one to beat. (4) KINNDER JACKSON enters here off of two sub-1:50 efforts and he has good early speed. (3) GENTLEMANJIM II IE tired last week at Philly but his prior efforts were good; maybe.
Race 8: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace
(4) CAVIART REAGAN left the gate well last week, sat a nice pocket trip but could not muster a serious late rally versus a couple of tough rivals; this looks like an easier field tonight and he deserves another chance with Bartlett on the return drive. (2) ROCKATHON made one start in June coming off the break and he disappeared for a couple of months; Bucci trainee has proven he can go with this type. (1) HUNDIE N figures to work out a live trip from the rail.
Race 9: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) SUNFIRE BLUE CHIP fired hard from the outside post last week and almost pulled it off; classy veteran is as rugged as they come and he's clearly feeling good now. (4) CAVIART LUCA drops from Open company and is a logical contender but I'm unsure of the trip with a couple of speedy types inside of him. (8) HUDSON PHIL is razor-sharp but the eight hole makes things very difficult; Lachance is good at saving ground at the back and maybe he can sneak through to pick off a few.
