Yonkers: Analysis for Friday 9/18

Matt Rose|Sep 16, 2020
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 157 - 464 / $818.70 (-$109.30)
BEST BETS: 25 - 44 / $78.60 (-$9.40)
Best Bet:
SOHO LENNON A (4th)
Spot Play: CENTURY ENDEAVOR (9th)

Race 1: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) SLICK MICK returns from Ohio for Jenn Bongiorno and he's performed well here in the past versus better competition; gelding should be heading to the front. (1) TIN ROOF RAIDER A gets both needed class and post relief for Andrew Harris, and we saw one of his barnmates totally reverse form the other night; main threat. (2) GRAND MASTER should be tracking the top two and he can hold off the rest to complete a chalky Triple.

Race 2: NW15000 in last 5 starts Trot

(3) MONEY MAVEN is up in class off a busy winning mile and he does have a post edge on his main rivals; Marohn, Jr. picks up the drive tonight and with a smooth journey the oldtimer can get it done again. (6) NOWS THE MOMENT will be firing to the front and is a threat to take these all the way. (7) WINGS OF ROYALTY may not be an Open-caliber horse anymore but he should be a player against this type despite the post; Stratton's choice.

Race 3: $20,000 Claiming Pace

(3) ZOEEZ BOY HENRY is still shut out of the win column this season but last week's effort wasn't bad considering the uncovered trip; with some racing luck he would be no surprise here. (1) HALF A BILLION gets needed post relief and the Laterza trainee hasn't been awful recently. (6) ABRAXAS BLUES A has shown inconsistencies in the past but his last few local efforts have been good.

Race 4: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) SOHO LENNON A is clearly feeling good now and the Dilloian-trained veteran is the one to beat. Not much value to be had, however. (1) BLATANTLY BEST does have good speed and Holland will likely be pushing off hard to secure good position; not sure he can win here, but he should land a nice share. (5) ALTA LEROY N steps up to face better looking for three straight for the Lachance barn.

Race 5: Open Handicap Pace

(7) NONE BETTOR A figured to have a tactical advantage on rival Micky Gee N, who figures to get away last. Harris trainee may be tough if he makes the front. (6) SHNITZLEDOSOMETHIN was an easy winner versus lesser when last seen locally but he's got the talent to compete at the top level. (8) MICKY GEE N is a supreme talent and can fly home with the best of them; will he have too far to come?

Race 6: NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) SOHO LEVIATHAN A may be a bit of a reach at this level but he looked very sharp sweeping the field last out and he faces some questionable speed types here; consider if the price is right. (5) RUNRUNJIMMYDUNN N may be the lukewarm favorite in here and certainly can win but how short a price to do you take? (1) HOT DEUCE looks for three straight and the freelegged pacer has good speed with the best draw.

Race 7: NW20000 in last 5 starts Trot

(3) FASHION CREDITOR has looked good in his last few and Siegelman seems to get along well with this veteran trotter; price option in this competitive event. (6) MELADY'S MONET finished up pretty well last week in a likely needed start and he can be more involved tonight. (8) MUSCLE M UP was big in defeat last week at the hands of Stormy Kromer but the eight hole can be a problem.

Race 8: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) SOMEBADDUDE pummeled lesser in his last two Yonkers appearances then was derailed by post eight last week at Freehold. He faces some legit talent in here but may be sharp enough to come out on top. (4) ROLLWITHPAPAJOE is another returning Jenn Bongiorno trainee and he was a 1:51 3/5 drawing-away winner when last seen locally. (2) DANCIN DRAGON was facing some good stock recently at Northfield and was successful; he's another with a good local history.

Race 9: NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) CENTURY ENDEAVOR went down the road two back with Lachance catch-driving; it's unlikely he'll get as cheap a half tonight but he's still a top contender here. (5) DON DOMINGO N is back up the ladder for Lance Hudson looking to repeat. (1) MOHAWK WARRIOR has hit the ticket all of his recent tries and that trend can continue starting from the innermost post.
