Yonkers: Analysis for Friday 7/31

Matt Rose|Jul 29, 2020
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 125 - 357 / $679.40 (-$34.60)
BEST BETS: 18 - 32 / $57.50 (-$6.50)
Best Bet:
DON DOMINGO N (6th)
Spot Play: MISSION ACCEPTED (7th)

Race 1 - NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) MARINER SEELSTER has been facing better in all recent (including $75K claimers when last at Yonkers) and the Mark Ford-trained veteran should be able to convert at this bottom level. (7) SENOR MACRAY A may not be as talented as some of his barnmates but the Jim King, Jr. trainee should fit nicely with these. (1) ROCK ON PRECIOUS has been overmatched with better out of town but he's had plenty of local success in the past.

Race 2 - NW17500 in last 5 starts Trot

(1) LINDSEY'S PRIDE made a nice move into contention from too far back in his last start, loomed turning home but understandably flattened a bit late. Post relief here can make a big difference. (3) ARABELLA'S CADET was outbattled by a razor-sharp rival in last and was second best. Lance Hudson trainee looms large here. (2) BARRY BLACK is a proven commodity with this type and he was recently second best to a classy rival.

Race 3 - NW5000 in last 5 Pace

(2) MILITARY MASTER A raced okay in his local return facing better in what was likely a needed start; he's reunited with Stratton tonight and deserves top billing from this good post. (1) THE LUNCH PAIL has always been a tough horse to gauge but he's got plenty of wins on his resume versus better. (5) BROOKIES PRINCE N was once a winning machine at this optional $12,500 claiming level and he does show a win on his lines for this barn before going sour.

Race 4 - NW25000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) HEAVEN'S GAIT was sent off at very generous odds in his first start back from the break for a live barn and he converted over a talented rival. Devita trainee gets a free ride here looking to repeat. (1) IDEAL JIMMY has been a major disappointment this year; maybe the return to Yonkers and the best post wakes him up. (7) ARCHANGEL THREE raced very well here versus better three back; only problem is the outside draw. (3) MACHIATTO A is up the class ladder again for Team Bongiorno while in good form.

Race 5 - NW17500 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN didn't fire at all from the pocket last out but his prior start was an easy win while well-rated on the engine; perhaps if Stratton can clear the top and back the pace down the veteran can take these the distance. (2) FLAMING FLUTTER N is one of many fresh imports for Shane Tritton and Lauren is down to drive; they teamed up for a nice effort last start at Pocono. All-Tritton exacta box looming here? (7) COOL BLUES MAN finished with solid late energy coming off the bench and he'll be a big price here; consider underneath.

Race 6 - NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) DON DOMINGO N had plenty of early and late pace last start to set up the winning trip but was dq'ed for bulling his way out of the pocket; he’ll jog here at a short price with a similar effort. (5) QUICK ASA TRICK N is up in class off a good second-place finish and he's got the speed to fire out and potentially work out the trip behind the top choice. (1) MASTERSON sometimes tends to disappoint but he's been in good form and needs to be included. (3) MR BIG LOAD returns locally for Laterza and that barn had been going well lately.

Race 7 - NW25000 in last 5 starts Trot

(3) MISSION ACCEPTED looked good in his first couple of seasonal starts at The Meadowlands then tailed off a bit while facing tough competition; change of scenery can wake the classy Burke trainee up. (4) STORMY CROMER is razor-sharp and impossible not to include. (2) THE LAST CHAPTER was caught uncovered in last week's Open; he's reunited with Bartlett tonight.

Race 8 - NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) MR PROFETA has never been a prolific winner but the homebred was deceptively good last out from a no-chance spot and the post relief can clearly help his cause here. (1) FIREBALL took care of business facing lesser and he's got the back class to handle these. (5) CAVIART SKYLER has been consistent in his two return starts. (4) GRAND MASTER needs a drop in class; maybe fourth?
