Yonkers: Analysis for Friday 7/29

MEET STATS: 251 - 759 / $1,281.20 (-$236.80)
BEST BETS: 37 - 70 / $150.20 (+$10.20)
Best Bet: TOCCOA FALLS (3rd)
Spot Play: ON HIGHER GROUND (7th)
Race 1: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace
(5) ODDS ON DELRAY chased a couple of good ones last week and could not gain late but held decently; veteran drops in class again, picks up Bartlett and is a major player in here. (4) BELTANE A flew home from too far back when dropped to this basement level and now he gets post relief. Like the top choice, he seems obvious in here. (3) SANTAFE'S COACH rallied well for third last start in an improved effort. He doesn't win often but picks up plenty of shares.

Race 2: $20,000 Claiming Pace
(2) PACING MAJOR N tends to get good for a few starts then disappears for months. Tritton trainee has been solid in his last three and now with the move inside and the switch back to Stratton he looks tough to beat. (5) AWESOMENESS responded first-time Dowse and he's back in for a tag tonight; I can see Bartlett firing from the gate from this spot. (1) LOVE THE BLUES N has been good in all recent tries and the post relief gives him a chance.

Race 3: NW15000 in last 5 starts Trot
(3) TOCCOA FALLS didn't hit the board in two recent starts over at The Meadowlands but he has some decent local efforts, generally while facing better stock. He figures to be put in play early by Bartlett. (1) KINDA LUCKY LINDY gets Dube back in the bike tonight and moves all the way inside. He's actually been showing some early speed recently. (4) MADHATTER BLUECHIP's game is speed so he can be close to the front but will need more at crunch time.
Race 4: $25,000 Claiming Pace
(3) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN returns from Philly, where he put in a solid two-move effort, which generally isn't his preferred trip. Veteran can make the front easily from this spot and is a solid candidate to take these the distance. (2) RISKY MILLION debuts for the Alexander barn off the $25K claim and the move back inside gives him a legit chance. (1) SPORTS BETTOR has been right there in his last five races without a win to show for it and now the DiDomenico trainee is 0 for 17 and counting on the season; still a viable option, however.
Race 5: NW15000 in last 5 starts Trot
(2) FANATIC was close at the finish facing better three and four back, then he got stuck in consecutive eight holes. He's back inside and picks up Bartlett. (1) HAT TRICK MARLEAU raced willingly in the back half of his last race to be third best; Bucci trainee has also been facing better and he's got a solid record this season with over $120K banked. (7) THANKFUL NO is a legit talent from Smedshammer, but the outside post does her no favors. She has flashed good early speed on occasion.
Race 6: $40,000 Claiming Pace
(3) URBAN RENEWAL bumped to this level last week for these new connections and certainly didn't disgrace himself with a fourth-place finish trying to close into a rated pace. He can be a decent price here in this wide-open event. (2) SEAFARER didn't have much of a chance from the eight hole in his first start off the DiDomenico claim; major post relief should make him a contender. (1) SHERIFF N was claimed by Dowse for $30K out of his last start after a long run in the Peter Tritton barn and he draws best with Bartlett driving. Obviously he's a legit player in here.
Race 7: NW30000 in last 5 starts Trot
(1) ON HIGHER GROUND has been going just evenly of late but note four back he was a solid second in the Open. From the inside draw he can work out a winning trip. (5) B NICKING has rounded into a solid upper-class trotter and his off-the-pace tactics have been working well; Brennan is back driving. (6) QUEEN OF ALL has been on a major run out of town for Lance Hudson.

Race 8: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) GLENGARRY KNIGHT N has steadily worked his way down the class ladder and finds a pretty soft spot here. Unless the class-dropping #1 or #5 steps up with a big effort he should be able to win this. (5) ON THE VIRG hasn't shown much recently but he's been facing tougher rivals. (1) VENIER HANOVER has done little in five starts for these connections after being claimed for $40K. He does draw best with Bartlett back driving.
Race 9: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace
(2) HEAVENLY SOUND was stuck in the seven and eight holes in his two starts for these connections. Not only does he drop way down, he moves way inside and gets the leading driver in the bike. (1) IDEAL LINER N was a good second three back from a similar level and hails from good connections but he's a bit inconsistent at times. (4) WEONA SIZZLER A didn't do much in his first off the claim but the winner went 1:52 3/5 and he wasn't that far back.
