Yonkers: Analysis for Friday 7/22

Matt Rose|Jul 20, 2022
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 251 - 759 / $1,281.20 (-$236.80)

BEST BETS: 37 - 70 / $150.20 (+$10.20)

Best Bet: BET THE LIMIT (3rd)

Spot Play: NEW HEAVEN (5th)

Race 1: NW30000 in last 5 starts Trot

(6) MELADY'S MONET hasn't been at his sharpest of late but he does get some class relief and switches back to Bartlett. Worth using on top if he isn't overbet. (7) WARRIOR ONE is off a couple of months but freshened nicely in a qualifier last week at The Meadowlands and the Burke trainee is a proven Open trotter, while most others in here are not. (4) SECRET BRO looked good beating lesser off the bench and he can land a share here with a smooth trip.

Race 2: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) WHITE HAIR ROCKS hasn't shown much since being claimed by the Dowse barn last month but he drops to face softer, draws well and has Bartlett. (1) PRINCE MCARDLE N has really been underachieving but at least he did go forward last week. (5) SO MANY ROADS has closed with plenty in his last few but once again he's drawn outside his main competition.

Race 3: $15,000 Claiming Pace

(3) BET THE LIMIT was a sharp and well-meant winner upon arrival last week for the Bako outfit and he's clearly capable of repeating. (2) P H KENNY stayed in passing the half coming out of the same race as the top one and once he shook free he finished with strong pace; veteran has been good for an extended period of time and should land another nice share. (1) ACES ROCK faced $30K claimers here last month but never made an impact; he now returns at this reduced level and draws best.

Race 4: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) AWESOMENESS returns to Yonkers now in the Dowse barn which means he gets leading driver Bartlett in the sulky. Veteran draws inside in this shaky field and figures to be aggressively handled. (6) LUC ROCKS invades for Jenn Bongiorno and that 1:49 2/5 final time last start at The Meadowlands is sure to attract attention. (8) BELTANE A was a successful high-level claimer earlier in the season as evidenced by his gaudy bankroll this year and now he finds himself at the lowest conditioned level. Eight hole obviously presents problems.

Race 5: NW15000 in last 5 starts Trot

(4) NEW HEAVEN drops to a more comfortable level tonight and finds a spot where Holland can be aggressive off the gate. (5) KINDA LUCKY LINDY also drops off a good second-place finish where he was much closer to the pace than usual. (6) EPOS OSTERVANG DK has missed time with a sick scratch but he was riding a three-race winning streak prior to that; Bartlett is back driving the Engblom trainee and he gets tested for class here.

Race 6: NW5036 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) SANTAFE'S COACH finished evenly in fifth last week chasing the well-rated winner and that was his first pari-mutuel start in over a month. Lachance trainee lands midpack here and can get it done with a live trip. (1) VIRGIN STORM was uninvolved last out but now the Alexander trainee drops to the basement and draws best. Three back he was a solid second to a classy winner. (8) GLENGARRY KNIGHT N faces an uphill climb from post eight but he fits well with these.

Race 7: $40,000 Claiming Pace

(4) MARINER SEELSTER has been rock-solid all season and any check here puts the 13-year-old over $120K in yearly earnings; Kalaley figures to be firing to the front again. (1) MIKEY CAMDEN didn't look all that good when he first arrived from the Maritimes but he's really turned things around; not sure if he's really a $40K claimer but he should be in line for a nice trip. (3) MY MIND IS MADEUP gets much-needed post relief.

Race 8: Open Handicap Trot

(2) STORMY KROMER has a number of Open wins this season and over $125K banked yet he never seems to get the accolades he deserves as he just goes about his business making money. He lands the generous two-hole and Dube could be looking to wire them again. (4) HILLEXOTIC was a solid two-move second best to the top one last week; Greg Merton gets the call again on the Burke trainee. (3) REFINED is an interesting recent shipper from Ohio where the Virgil Morgan, Jr trainee has won five Opens at Scioto over the last couple of months.

Race 9: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) BIG SIR was sent down the road last week by Siegelman and that's not really his best game; he may be a decent price with some other live options in here but the Bucci trainee has proven more than capable. (2) SON OF A TIGER N came up second best last out at Tioga in a quick time and he was facing better when last seen here. (4) LIFEONTHEBEACH A was claimed for $30K last start by Dowse despite not having much of a record this year or any current form; improves?
