Yonkers: Analysis for Friday 7/19

Matt Rose|Jul 17, 2024
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2024 MEET STATS: 224 - 753 / $1,246.10 (-$259.90)

BEST BETS: 32 - 65 / $120.40 (-$9.60)

BEST BET: SILK CLOUD A (2nd)

SPOT PLAY: MACHS LEGACY A (10th)

Race 1: F&M NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) SILKY STRIDE gets tested for class here but she's been very sharp in her last two and should be live again from this midpack post; Stratton is back driving with Buter staying with #8. (3) ROCKN PHILLY wasn't a player last week despite being bet down to 2/1; classy mare seems to face a bit easier here and will be an improved price. (8) FADE OUT returned to Yonkers last week and rolled down the road in 1:52 4/5. Eight hole is tough but she deserves a serious look.

Race 2: F&M NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) SILK CLOUD A took advantage of last week's drop in class and converted rather easily at odds-on. Pete Tritton import faces mostly similar here and can repeat. (6) COACHELLABOUND N is in the midst of a great season as she narrows in on $200K earned and normally she would be a cinch at this level but she lands outside and has been off almost a month. (5) UPTOWN HANOVER has a win and two seconds in her last three in this class and she figures to be prominent late.

Race 3: NW5000 in last 5 starts Trot

(2) CAL MILES N SHELL gets significant post relief and is one in a few in here dropping to the basement; 4YO actually won here a few starts back with the owner in the bike (before being DQ'ed) and now driver Siegelman figures to be more aggressive with him. (3) BAR COINS finished well in his local return and looks to have a legit chance here despite only being in the money 3 of 12 this year. (6) LIGHTFOOTEDLEGEND hasn't really worked out since that $40K claim six starts back but he too faces a bit easier here.

Race 4: NW10691 in last 5 starts Trot

(1) SEVENSHADESOFGREY drops back to the NW10000 base level, lands the rail and switches to Bartlett. He seems overdue for a win and looks like the one to catch. (3) NO DRAMA PLEASE has good speed and did encounter some traffic last week; could be the one to trip out. (4) MANCLANE put in his best effort last week since the high-priced claim back in May.

Race 5: F&M NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) PURE SILKY didn't fire last start but she drops back to a level where she had recently dominated; Bako trainee picks up Bongiorno in the bike and could be a fair price with the likes of #5 in here. (5) LIT DE ROSE didn't have a real excuse last out but she gets to drop again and the Matchmaker champ welcomes the returning Pat Lachance in the bike. (3) FAVORITE BEACH was a winner the last time Bartlett drove (though for a different barn).

Race 6: F&M NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) EASY TO PLEASE did not fire last week despite being bet down to even money but now the mare gets post improvement and a switch back to Jordan Stratton in the bike. She's got the class to overhaul these. (4) FRONT PAGE STORY recently shipped back down to the U.S., added Lasix and has put in four really live efforts at Philly. 4YO was actually a Breeders Crown finalist last year and I think she'll be a good fit here. (2) DIXIE DREAM draws well again and the Burke trainee can land a share.

Race 7: F&M NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

Hard to believe that (2) JIVE DANCING A has gone this sour. I thought the recent barn change back to Camilleri would be just what the doctor ordered but she offered up no rally in her last. Now down at NW5000 and from a good post we'll see if she can start to turn it around. (4) PURAMERI is usually live when dropped to this level and may offer some value with her 8/1 morning line. I guess (5) COMMANDER CATHY N is getting closer to finding the winner's circle, now at 0 for 21 and counting.

Race 8: NW15000 in last 5 starts Trot

(7) CECIL HANOVER dominated a NWx life conditioned field from the eight hole upon arrival. Despite facing some more seasoned rivals a repeat of that effort makes this Svanstedt trainee a repeat winner. (2) VOYAGE TO PARIS was a winner first off the Joe Bongiorno claim; may need to go faster to repeat but it's possible. (3) UNFORGETTABLE hasn't been a major win threat since shipping out East but it's hard to ignore the Bartlett/Engblom connections.

Race 9: $30,000 Claiming Pace

(3) PASSA GRILLE BEACH was a winner in his Yonkers return and this veteran has always performed well here in the past; he stays at the same level and draws well enough where a repeat is a legit possibility. (1) PINEBUSHDRAGONROLL is in for a tag upon arrival for Bongiorno and he's not that far removed from three wins in a row at The Meadowlands. (4) RANDOM HANOVER finished a close third last week, figures as high again.

Race 10: F&M NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) MACHS LEGACY A hasn't made any impact in two U.S. starts after that snappy qualifier up at Monti, but she was far back in both due mostly to the outside posts. I guess tonight we get to see what the recent Australian import can bring to the table. (1) TWIN B ALLURE disposed of a NW5000 group at odds-on last week and Joe B. will likely be controlling this one again. (5) ROCKNROLL ANNIE is an 0-fer this year but the Bucci trainee has finished third a few times and she's got some early speed.

Race 11: F&M NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) TRUE BLUE HANOVER usually races as well as she draws so from this post she does figure to be live; mare has the early speed to push off and discourage outside leavers. (1) ATREACHEROUS A has been sharp in two tries for this barn after arriving from Ohio and while she does face better here she's in line for a live trip from the rail. (6) DRAGONS LUCKY LADY hasn't won in a while but she generally faces better than what she sees here.

Race 12: NW7500 in last 5 starts Trot

(1) THE BALLYKEEL DEAL drops from $40K claimers into this softer spot and moves from the seven hole to the rail. Alexander trainee is likely to be controlling the action. (8) YANKS DUGOUT was facing much better when we last saw the Burke trainee at Yonkers and he's definitely got the early speed to overcome the eight hole. (5) HELPOFTHESEASON failed at 40 cents on the dollar in her local return and the Engblom trainee figures to take plenty of money again with Bartlett driving.
