MEET STATS: 251 - 759 / $1,281.20 (-$236.80)
BEST BETS: 37 - 70 / $150.20 (+$10.20)
Best Bet: ITSMYCHECK GB (7th)
Spot Play: WAVES OF FIRE A (4th)
Race 1: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) MISSION BAY is an 0-fer still this year and doesn't show much early speed but he's usually gaining ground late with a string of decent final quarters. Maybe he can get past some shaky rivals late for the upset. (1) MARTY MONKHOUSER A gets another crack from the rail with Stratton driving for his brother; would be no surprise if he won this. (6) PRINCE MCARDLE N has really been disappointing of late, considering he has a win this year at the $75K claiming level.

Race 2: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) WEONA SIZZLER A was an interesting claim last week for $40K by the Annunziata barn and they seem to like these veteran types; he gets to drop to face softer here. (4) MACH N CHEESE went down the road for his first start in the Forte barn but was nailed on the wire. Check out who beat him, however...The Real One, who is still making an impact after all these years. Kakaley picks up the drive and he's the one to beat. (1) NOWHERE CREEK A drops and draws best looking to awaken; wouldn't be a major surprise if he tripped out and won this.

Race 3: NW15000 in last 5 starts Trot
(1) SWINGFORTHEFENCES hasn't won a race yet since shipping out East for Cullipher but he's generally been facing better and he's been close in his last few; 4-year-old is a serious threat to go all the way. (2) SECRET BRO took a little time off and came back with a winning qualifier; Bongiorno trainee figures to be stalking the top one throughout. (4) IT AINT THE WHISKEY has a recent win at this level with Stratton driving.
Race 4: $15,000 Claiming Pace
(1) WAVES OF FIRE A went just evenly in his last couple of local races but he was claimed out of his last one by the Devita barn and he gets Siegelman in the bike. He seems worth a try in a race with some shaky favorites. (6) ASTON HILL DAVE has really turned things around in his last three and he also goes for a new barn. Long-time freelegged pacer (5) CARRACCI HANOVER puts on the hobbles after a pair of ugly breaks at odds-on.
Race 5: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace
(1) BIG SIR was outfinished in the late stages last week after being uncovered into the quick last panel; he draws inside again and faces a mostly formless bunch. (3) IMSTAYNALIVE bumps up a notch for Lachance after two solid second-place finishes. (2) MOHAWK WARRIOR moves back inside and has hit the ticket facing better the last three times he drew this well.
Race 6: NW21651 in last 5 starts Trot
(1) LEAN HANOVER seemed classiest in last week's race and got the job done from well off the pace; from this spot driver Marohn, Jr will likely be controlling the action. (5) NO MAS DRAMA also has plenty of class and he picks up Kakaley tonight; trotting mare seems like a must-use. (2) BIZET has been earning a decent living recently at the $75K claiming level and he's been lucky with the post draws.
Race 7: NW5040 in last 5 starts Pace
(3) ITSMYCHECK GB never got involved from the eight hole when dropped in class for last week's race but he finished with plenty to pick up a fourth-place check. Cory Stratton trainee swept past $50K claimers not too long ago. (4) GLENGARRY KNIGHT N has fallen on hard times recently but did wake up when dropped to this level. (2) GAMBLINGTERROR returns from Philly off a win in a lower-level conditioned event and was facing better when we last saw him.

Race 8: Open Handicap Trot
(1) MISSISSIPPI STORM is a legit Open-level horse with numerous wins at this top class. He gets lucky landing the rail and is more than capable of tripping out to beat these. (4) STORMY KROMER is 9 for 13 in the money this year and the Stafford trainee can never be counted out. (7) AMIGO VOLO gets a new driver tonight in Kakaley and is a major player again despite the outside post.
Race 9: $40,000 Claiming Pace
(1) ALOTBETTOR N tired after flashing his customary speed two back but took it easy last out and finished decently; tonight he drops in price, lands inside and is a threat to take these wire-to-wire. (2) THE DOWNTOWN BUS had no chance last start from the eight hole but was second best in his prior three and goes back to Stratton; Gillis trainee doesn't have a good win record over the past two seasons so exercise caution using on top. (5) PICARD A held for a board spot last week after being uncovered into a rated pace and he's proven with this type.
