Yonkers: Analysis for Friday 7/1

Matt Rose|Jun 29, 2022
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 209 - 646 / $1,066.90 (-$225.10)

BEST BETS: 33 - 59 / $136.30 (+$18.30)

Best Bet: GENIUS MAN (1st)

Spot Play: MACH DORO A (10th)

Race 1: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(6) GENIUS MAN drops to the lowest conditioned level but it's not like his form has been awful or anything. He really has no excuses here. (3) IMSTAYINALIVE was a good second last out from the eight hole; post relief helps him become a prime contender. (2) ROCK N TONY has some back class and he also gets a needed post improvement.

Race 2: $15,000 Claiming Pace

(4) CARRACCI HANOVER made a big recovery last week after a break only to jump again turning home. He moves to the Adamczyk barn via claim where he had some success in the past. (2) GYPSY LEATHER was a pocket-riding second in his local return and figures to be looking at a similar trip tonight. (3) WAVES OF FIRE A returns off two failed tries in the amateurs at The Meadowlands and he's done well here in the past.

Race 3: $20,000 Claiming Pace

(2) DAVIDS COMING HOME rallied steadily for third last week, his first off the Bako claim. Move inside makes this veteran logical. (5) BENJI'S BEST is back in the Alexander barn and he's accustomed to facing better than these. (4) SPORTS BETTOR had every opportunity to win last week but could not get by. Overall he seems to have found his comfort level with this class.

Race 4: NW30000 in last 5 starts Trot

(3) FOCUS POCUS was a wire-to-wire winner against a notch lesser two back upon shipping in and then he could not reach his next start out. Cullipher trainee has Bartlett driving again from an improved post and he seems to fit well here in this competitive field. (7) SORELLA basically toured the track in last week's Open, her first start of the season. Will she be more involved tonight? Watch the board. (2) FANATIC has missed a bit of time but was a good second to Melady's Monet in his last start.

Race 5: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) MARTY MONKHOUSER A gave it an aggressive try last start when dropping in price and now he plummets to the NW5000 level; classy 13-year-old should be able to get the job done here. (3) TOM ME GUN N was a clear second in his first start off the layoff then got looped and hung last start; post relief makes him a player again. (5) TIGER BARON gets class relief and is capable, but drawing outside his main competition doesn't help his chances.

Race 6: Park MGM Filly Pace Final 3YO Filly Pace

(7) GOTTHEGREENLIGHT threw in a rare poor performance two back in a NYSS test at Monticello but bounced back with a decisive score at Vernon. Sire Stakes champ as a two-year-old hasn't shown a ton of early speed in her young career but if there is any driver who can get one off the gate, it's Bartlett. (5) MADEIRA HANOVER has started off her sophomore campaign in solid fashion and the Linda Toscano trainee seems to be betting progressively better. (3) WICKEDLY INNOCENT makes her first start since moving to the Takter barn and she did recently impress up at Mohawk with two close defeats in the Fan Hanover. Filly did have some issues over the half as a two-year-old.

Race 7: NEW YORK NEW YORK Mile Final 3YO Filly Trot

(6) JIGGY JOG S was recently a solid second in the NJSS final with Dexter Dunn driving the Svanstedt trotter, and he gets the call again. Well-mannered filly has good speed and figures to be just fine over the half-mile surface. (2) CASH INFUSION added the trotting hobbles a few starts back and that seemed to help straighten out the Ducharme trainee. She gets Gingras in the bike tonight from a good starting spot. (5) LITTLE PINK LIES was second best to Joviality S two back in a NYSS test at Yonkers and she's another Svanstedt trainee in here with a legit chance.

Race 8: MGM Grand Messenger Stakes Final 3YO C&G Pace

(4) GULF SHORES took control early in his elimination when it looked like nobody else was interested in the lead and he held safely over the trip-sitter after rating a comfortable pace. There figures to be much more early action in the final but the Brian Brown trainee may be better from off the pace anyway. Gingras should be in the perfect spot to get it done. (1) NAUTICAL HANOVER added Lasix two back and it seemed to help out this Captaintreacherous offspring as he cruised to a life mark two back in an overnight event. Alagna trainee was a good third behind the top choice in last week's elimination and driver Todd McCarthy has options starting from the innermost post. (7) PLEASELETMEKNOW was the other elimination winner after blasting to the top and sprinting clear nicely in the late stages. I would assume Kakaley will try employing the same strategy. (8) PJ LOU is another speedster but is stuck all the way outside. With some luck he can land a piece.

Race 9: MGM Yonkers Trot Final 3YO Open Trot

(7) JOVIALITY S will be favored here to become the first filly to win the Yonkers Trot in 25 years. With her blazing gate speed the outside post doesn't figure to present any problems and once she makes the lead she just seems too talented to get passed. (8) JUSTICE was last week's other elimination winner and unfortunately he's stuck outside Joviality S in the eight hole but I can't see that handicap preventing Svanstedt from firing off the gate. If he can somehow land in the pocket or at least somewhere midpack he'll have the best chance to complete the exacta. (5) POUR MEA DOUBLE was really moving well in the late stages last week and he can build off that effort. Clear threat to hit the ticket. (3) DOUBLE DECEIVER was a nice earner as a freshman and acclimated well with a second-place finish in his elimination.

Race 10: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) MACH DORO A has tailed off a bit in his last few but he gets serious class relief as he was facing high-class claimers; Garcia-Herrera trainee is more than talented enough to beat these. (1) BLUEBIRD RECON is going better now and the Dowse trainee is an obvious player from the pole position. (4) POSH ONTHEBEACH A scored in his second start off the Cory Stratton claim; Dexter Dunn picks up the catch drive.

Race 11: NW15000 in last 5 starts Trot

(1) COLONIAL AS IT pretty much gets a free ride off that eight-hole win last week and while he'll offer no value he is the likeliest winner. (4) MADHATTER BLUECHIP is back in a spot where he can flash his early speed. (5) BARRY BLACK drops in class again and he's been known to turn things around in a hurry; don't ignore this classy French-bred.
