Yonkers: Analysis for Friday 6/17

MEET STATS: 209 - 646 / $1,066.90 (-$225.10)
BEST BETS: 33 - 59 / $136.30 (+$18.30)
Best Bet: KEYSTONE DASH (1st)
Spot Play: GOTHIC ROCK (6th)
Race 1: $15,000 Claiming Pace
(1) KEYSTONE DASH has seemed to tail off a bit in his last few so his high-percentage trainer plunges him in class to the $15K level, where a wake-up call is likely. (2) P H KENNY figures to be close to the front throughout and he should be able to land a nice share. (4) TEXAS TERROR N was claimed again out of last week's disappointing race and the new connections (who had him once before for a start) drop him below the level of the purchase price. I can't ever seem to guess right with this 14-year-old.

Race 2: $20,000 Claiming Pace
(4) MARTY MONKHOUSER A had the eight hole in his last two facing better and he trailed with nothing to offer in both those races, but the classy veteran drops and draws a much more realistic post. Expect an improved effort. (1) CLASS SIX jogged last week at Monti in 1:55 1/5 and he gets Bartlett in the bike for his local return. (5) MARCO BEACH was okay here two back when he finished third and Dube is usually live driving for this barn.

Race 3: NW15000 in last 5 starts Trot
(2) MUSCLE JACK moves to the Travis Alexander barn off last week's $50K claim and lands an improved spot tonight. 4-year-old was a winner from a similar spot four back. (8) KENZIESKY HANOVER returns from The Meadowlands where she was facing some tough competition and she's likely best here, but needs to overcome the worst post. (1) MADHATTER BLUECHIP has been in raging form at Monticello and he's been competitive with this type in the past.
Race 4: NW23030 in last 5 starts Trot
(6) TOCCOA FALLS was handled conservatively last week in his local return and finished evenly in a race dominated by Melady's Monet. Engblom trainee faces a bit softer tonight and figures to be more involved. (1) MOSTINTERESTINGMAN returns to very familiar surroundings where he has made loads of money over the last few years. This class level is within his reach. (5) B NICKING tripped out to beat lesser last week and he's capable of landing a share with these.
Race 5: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace
(2) BETTOR'S DREAM went a tough trip last start and understandably tired. Gillis trainee draws better here and Stratton sticks. (5) THE REAL ONE is racing himself back into shape and a win won't be far off. (1) SAILBOAT HAOVER moves all the way inside and picks up Bartlett.
Race 6: $20,000 Claiming Pace
(1) GOTHIC ROCK was uninvolved most of the way last week in his local return but he finished crisply to be second best. From the improved post he projects as a top contender. (6) MACHIAVELLI also finished well but too late in his last try; we'll see if Bartlett can coax some early speed out of him tonight. (5) PACING MAJOR N is back from a couple of months on the shelf and the Pete Tritton trainee has been first or second in his last five races at this level.
Race 7: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace
(7) BLUEBIRD RECON fired off the gate last week then was shuffled late in the mile as the leader was quitting; Dowse trainee lands outside again but faces weaker and I would expect Bartlett to employ the same tactics. (2) JIMS PERFECT TEN has been a major disappointment in four starts after being claimed for $40K by the Jenn Bongiorno barn; he draws well in a soft field and should be capable of better. (8) IMSTAYINALIVE has no luck with the post draws as he lands the eight hole again but the Lachance trainee has been racing with much better and would have been one of the favorites had he landed inside.
Race 8: Open Handicap Trot
(6) HILLEXOTIC missed a nose to the favored Amigo Volo last week and overall he's been super since joining the Burke barn. Brennan can get rolling early and will be tough if he makes the front. (4) EUROBOND was in an impossible spot in last week's Open and could not get close to the top two. Kakaley can be more aggressive here. (7) AMIGO VOLO goes from the rail all the way outside to his assigned seven-hole. He's obviously talented enough to win again but will have his work cut out for him.

Race 9: NW30000 in last 5 starts Trot
(2) I DA PRINCESS arguably faces the toughest test of her career but she looked so good winning her local debut for these new connections that she deserves the chance. (5) STREET GOSSIP gets away from those tough Open foes from a week ago and figures to be much more involved. (8) GHOSTINTHESHELL S overcame the eight hole last start and jogged for the second consecutive time. Anytime Dube drives one here for Svanstedt they merit major respect.
Race 10: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace
(4) IDEAL LINER N was game in defeat three back from a similar spot then didn't have much of a chance in last week's start but did pick up a small share. Despite not having a win over the last year-plus Dilloian imports always command respect and this one could be a decent price. (7) CAN B PERFECT faces weaker in his local return and was Bartlett's choice of four. (3) VIRGIN STORM also takes a needed drop in class and his recent final quarters and final times will attract attention.
