Yonkers: Analysis for Friday 6/11

Matt Rose|Jun 09, 2021
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 197 - 544 / $1,116.60 (+$28.60)

BEST BETS: 26 - 55 / $82.80 (-$27.20)

Best Bet: KINDA LUCKY LINDY (11th)

Spot Play: KEPT UNDER WRAPS A (10th)

Race 1: $12,500 Claiming Pace

(2) RANSOM DEMAND was an easy winner versus similar three back and the veteran finds a very soft spot here; he looks like the deserving choice here. (3) TODDLER TANTRUM was okay in a local start last month and he was actually bet down to the favorite in that event; Kakaley's choice should never be too far back from this spot. (8) ROLL AWAY JOE has just been plodding along in those recent Ohio starts but he ships back east and he's got a good local history.

Race 2: Preferred Handicap Trot

(2) NEW HEAVEN was in no-chance spots in his last two local races, where he was facing Open-caliber stock. Prior efforts for this veteran were solid, and the well-mannered trotter should find himself on or near the lead. (3) EYE OFA TIGER AS is finally hinting at a return to top form and he should be considered despite Holland opting off. (5) PATRIARCH HANOVER returns to Yonkers after throwing in a break over at The Big M but he looked super in his prior two wins.

Race 3: $12,500 Claiming Pace

(1) SOLID ASA ROCK A plunges to the basement claiming level despite being rather decent recently versus better; assuming he's good to go he should control these. (2) WILD WEST hasn't won here in a couple of years but that was a solid effort in defeat in his last start. (3) CONSTNTLYSIDEWYS A was a curious claim three back by DiDomenico and he showed nothing in two starts for that barn; he drops back in for $12,500 looking to awaken.

Race 4: $12,500-$15,000 Claiming Handicap Pace

(6) ROUGH ODDS shipped into Philly from Ohio to join the Gareth Dowse barn, took the money despite awful form and delivered in big way beating up on their $10K claimers; he may be currently sharp enough to handle these. (3) BLACKTREE has a post edge on his main competition which should make him a big player. (8) DEERFIELD BEACH drew away from his Meadowlands rivals last week with a solid back half but he's got to overcome post eight tonight; consider him if the price is healthy.

Race 5: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) ZIGGY SKY is not exactly a prolific winner and he hails from a low-percentage barn but his last few races from realistic posts have been good and he's proven to be a fit with this type. (5) BLACK CHEVRON N drops to the bottom and it's been a while since he's tasted victory; he's got back class and he must be considered. (6) PROVEN DESIRE is another classy gelding and he returns locally after facing better at Pocono in recent starts.

Race 6: $20,000 Claiming Pace

(2) FASHIONONTHEBEACH is coming off an ugly 2020 season but after some time off he resurfaced in a new barn and looked good in his two seasonal starts; he looks like another potentially live player from the Dowse barn. (3) TONY TOO TALL must love life on the road because that's quite a schlep between Yonkers and Northfield but Clegg returns to the Hilltop off a nice win in Ohio and he did have pace in traffic here two back. (4) REAL LUCKY N was second best in a good speed try last out for Bongiorno and he should be a player again here.

Race 7: Open Handicap Trot

(7) MISSISSIPPI STORM flashed big speed to loop the field into the turn and take command from the eight hole in his last Yonkers try and that resulted in a win. He returns off a solid effort at The Meadowlands and the classy Fanning trainee deserves a long look despite his outside post assignment. (3) HEY LIVVY looks to be ready to roll in her 2021 debut coming off that 1:53 qualifier; Stratton's choice over Melady’s Monet. (4) HILL OF A HORSE finished a close second in his last three.

Race 8: $20,000 Claiming Pace

(2) PEMBROKE JOEY has missed a bit of time but he had been looking great in his prior starts and he gets a good post to work with. (5) MARINER SEELSTER goes for three straight for DiDomenico; logical favorite. (7) MAJOR BUCKS has been a model of consistency for the Jenn Bongiorno barn; he faces a bit better here and is stuck outside but he should offer a nice price and perhaps he can spice up the exotics.

Race 9: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) BETTOR THAN SPRING hasn't been awful recently yet he still finds himself all the way down the class ladder; classy veteran is supposed to handle these, at a short price. (3) BENHOPE RULZ N should be pushing away from the gate from this spot; can he work out a pocket trip? (2) MAGRITTE also finds himself back in NW5000; safe to say his form streak is a thing of the past.

Race 10: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) KEPT UNDER WRAPS A has been popular at the claim box recently despite coming up a bit short in the late stages most of the time; he drops out of claimers and may have found a field he can wire. (7) CLASSIC PRO is a rare underachiever from the Stafford barn but I have to expect he'll get it going eventually; he should be a healthy price from this spot if you want to take a shot. (1) FULLBACK is coming off a sick scratch but he's usually pretty live from inside posts.

Race 11: NW15000 in last 5 starts Trot

(3) KINDA LUCKY LINDY gets the class relief he needs to come out on top as the chalk. (1) BLUE AND BOLD is at his best a level down but aside from the top one there isn't much to get excited about. He should be a player from the inside post. (5) IN MY DREAMS has been decent in his last couple; consider underneath.

Race 12: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) OUR MAJORDAN A has been a disappointment this season but the speedy import finds the perfect spot to get well in a hurry. (7) AIR FORCE HANOVER has also been underachieving (for a barn still trying to find its way) but he does drop in class and Bartlett should have him moving early. (5) ANTHEM N dropped and popped last out. Bumping back up a notch the Pete Tritton trainee can land a nice piece.
