Yonkers: Analysis for Friday 4/23

MEET STATS: 114 - 309 / $598.70 (-$19.30)
BEST BETS: 15 - 31 / $49.60 (-$12.40)
Best Bet: CINNABAR DRAGON (4th)
Spot Play: MCCLINCHIE N (2nd)
Race 1: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace
(6) MARINER SEELSTER hasn't been all that sharp since the $25K claim by DiDomenico but he returns locally into a pretty soft spot and perhaps the venue change can help to wake him up. (2) MUSCLE MACH A makes his local debut for the Shane Tritton barn and although he's been off since last summer he could make noise here if ready to go. (1) BALLERAT BOOMERANG gets needed post relief and figures to be more involved.

Race 2: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace
(2) MCCLINCHIE N has been caught up in fast miles in his last two while facing better than these and he wasn't that far back in those races; drop to the bottom and inside draw make this Vallee trainee a solid contender. (3) THE REV failed as the odds-on chalk last out when dropped to this NW5000 class; he's talented enough to rebound at what should be a better price. (5) HEAVENLY SOUND jogged in 1:54 1/5 at Freehold upon shipping from Canada to join the Lachance barn then last week he never got involved here; he clearly looks best of the rest.

Race 3: $12,500 Claiming Pace
(2) THEREISAPACEFORUS lost touch after yielding to the heavy favorite at the half last week but he's drawn well again and is proven at this bottom claiming level. (3) ROCK ON PRECIOUS got major post relief last start and responded with a better effort; 13-year-old should be a contender again. (1) MATT MAJOR has early speed from the innermost post but he's been rather unreliable lately.
Race 4: $12,500-$15,000 Claiming Handicap Pace
(2) CINNABAR DRAGON raced very well last week to be second best considering he was drawn outside and had missed a bit of time; Ken Koch trainee looks to be in a controlling spot tonight. (3) PEMBROKE JOEY came up totally empty last out when claimed and now he comes in off a sick scratch but he does land in a pretty good spot and could be right there if ready to go. (7) BLAYDE HANOVER saw his win streak snapped last week and now he's outside and loses Brennan as well but the good news is he'll be a healthy price; perhaps he can add value to the bottom of the ticket.
Race 5: $20,000 Claiming Pace
(1) P H KENNY finally put it all together last week with a long-overdue dominating victory and there's no reason to think he can't take another. (4) KINGSTONS BAD BOY invades from Northfield for Bill Rhoades and he looks like a good fit here. (3) LYONS WILLIAM drops back in for a tag and lands a better post.
Race 6: Open Handicap Trot
(8) MISSISSIPPI STORM is rightfully assigned post eight off three consecutive big efforts and I think he's sharp enough to overcome the handicap. (4) ARABELLA'S CADET has proven that she belongs with this type and she can grab a nice share with smooth sailing. (6) NOWS THE MOMENT makes his local return and we know he's got plenty of early speed.
Race 7: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace
(6) DANCIN DRAGON was much better last week, just missing to a classy winner. Veteran drops in class and looms large. (1) SANTAFE’S COACH also drops to the lowest conditioned level and the Lachance trainee draws best. He's also very logical here. (2) BLANTANTLY BEST backed up in his first start off the DiDomenico claim and while he didn't offer much last week it was a better effort.

Race 8: NW15000 in last 5 starts Trot
(7) SWANSEA takes a needed drop from the Open ranks after being worn down on the front end by the sharp Mississippi Storm. Unfortunately he's drawn outside his main competition but if Siegelman can get him away in good order he's got a very live chance, at potentially a decent price. (3) LEAN HANOVER was run over by a longshot last week after stalking from the pocket; Toscano trainee should be right there again. (2) AFTER ALL PAUL lingered at the rear before breaking last out but he was a winner the start prior over a horse who came back to win.
Race 9: NW7900 in last 5 starts Pace
(5) LACHIE MAGUIRE N was a well-driven winner in his local return looking sharp despite having missed some time; he's classy enough to handle better. (1) MELODIES MAJOR is still trying to find his way after impressing in his two-year-old season; he can be tighter making his second seasonal start. (3) BELTANE A hasn't won in quite a while but he's a steady check-earner.
