Yonkers: Analysis for Friday 4/22

Matt Rose|Apr 20, 2022
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 102 - 318 / $514.10 (-$121.90)

BEST BETS: 19 - 29 / $66.90 (+$8.90)

Best Bet: RISKY MILLION (3rd)

Spot Play: FINE DIAMOND (2nd)

Race 1: $20,000 Claiming Pace

(5) SWAGASAURUSEX finally snuck into the win column for these connections last week and though it was against softer maybe he gained some confidence and he can repeat with a smooth trip. (2) TEXAS TERROR N remains the one to beat as always but never offers any value. (1) KINGSTONS BAD BOY found an easy spot and converted last start; he'll be in line for a good trip here.

Race 2: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) FINE DIAMOND showed some improvement in his last couple and he does have plenty of back class; good draw should mean a close-up trip. The fun is over with (3) MAGRITTE as he appears to just be 'ordinary' again. Obviously he can win this. (1) GLOBALDOMINATION N has been uninvolved in his last three but he does move all the way inside.

Race 3: $15,000 Claiming Pace

(7) RISKY MILLION returns locally at a much-reduced level and he's also now in the Dowse barn so he picks up Bartlett; lots to like despite the poor post. (1) P H KENNY was driven like he would be better than he was last out; with the rail draw he figures to be handled aggressively again. (2) SAFETY SECOND arrives from Freehold and he was a 1:54 4/5 winner there two back.

Race 4: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) DA GHETTO WIZARD had some decent late pace in his last couple and he draws well enough here in this wide-open event; worth a look with Bartlett getting the drive. (5) SO MANY ROADS was bet down to 55 cents on the dollar on last week's drop but was only second best to the strong winner; Lachance trainee will offer a better price tonight. (6) MARK WITHA K finds himself all the way in the basement again after a solid run with much better; tough to gauge him.

Race 5: NW17710 in last 5 starts Trot

(1) MAGICAL JOURNEY has underwhelmed me since returning with the trotting hobbles added but he did have a bit of an excuse last start; one more chance. (7) MOSTINTERESTINGMAN drops to a level where he's most effective and this veteran must be considered despite the poor draw. (2) BELIEVER has been sharp out of town and this 4-year-old looks like he'll fit with these; Kakaley drives again.

Race 6: NW34801 in last 5 starts Trot

(1) STORMY KROMER has two Open wins to his credit already this season and the classy trotter deserves top billing. (4) HAYEK somehow is still winless on the season but he's been racing great; last week he missed a nose to Warrior One. (2) BARRY BLACK was unable to reach from the eight hole in his last start but the post relief should keep him close throughout.

Race 7: NW10501 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) PAT MCGARRY A has been unable to get involved in his three starts after being plucked from Canada by Jenn Bongiorno but this is probably the best spot he's seen and we'll see if Bartlett takes charge early. (2) KING JAMES EXPRESS raced pretty well versus better in his second seasonal start and the 4-year-old looks like a player. (1) REIGNING DEO has hung in his last couple of tries and clearly needs to show more.

Race 8: 3&4YO $30,000 Claiming Pace

(6) CAVIART SARGENT tried going down the road last week but was nailed by a resilient Major Bean. He debuts now for Dowse off the claim looking to make amends. (1) MAJOR BEAN also goes for a new barn (Jenn B) and this makes for a very interesting matchup again. (5) MY WISH CAME TRUE drops in class for Erv Miller after coming up dull in his 2022 debut; hard to justify using on top but maybe he can land a share.

Race 9: NW15000 in last 5 starts Trot

(4) SWISS HOUSE ONFIRE raced decently from the pocket last week and was a game front-end winner the start prior; Brennan is back driving for Buter and he'll offer some value as the third or fourth choice. (1) NEW HEAVEN hasn't won yet this year but is clearly knocking on the door. (2) ETHAN T HANOVER was the only leaver from the eight hole last out and wired the field under no pressure; he gets a free ride at this NW15000 base level, meeting the NW9 lifetime condition.
