Yonkers: Analysis for Friday 3/24

Matt Rose|Mar 22, 2023
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2023 MEET STATS: 66 - 194 / $300.00 (-$88.00)

BEST BETS: 11 - 18 / $34.00 (-$2.00)

Best Bet: RACINE BELL (6th)

Spot Play: PROBERT (7th)

Race 1: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) DARK ENERGY N has shown much more life since dropping to this bottom conditioned level and the Cory Stratton-trained veteran seems way overdue for a win; drawing inside some of his main competition helps the cause. (7) SAYING GRACE N broke at 40 cents on the dollar last start against better and he gets to drop to the basement looking to make amends; Bartlett is back driving and they did team up for a win back in January. (8) EL JACKO N has done nothing of note recently but he goes out second-time in the Daguet barn and maybe shows improvement at a huge price.

Race 2: Blue Chip Matchmaker Leg #2 Mares Pace

(3) MCMARKLE SPARKLE had no chance from the eight hole in last week's first leg as the favorites dominated up front. DiDomenico trainee lands in a soft division here and is in a good spot to make one move for the score. (2) WAHS FIRE BUG N kept up well enough to be third best last week and she can build off that effort. (4) MABALENE N has scratched sick twice in the last month which obviously isn't a good sign and she's now playing catch-up with the rest of the mares.

Race 3: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) LUCIANO N just got nipped last out in a game try and the veteran has been good this season despite not reaching the winner's circle; maybe tonight's the night. (8) SPLASH BROTHER overcame a shuffle to win his last at odds-on; he bumps back up a notch and lands in post eight but still looms a solid player. Expect a Bartlett blast. (3) ON THE VIRG gets needed post relief after being stuck in the eight hole last two starts.

Race 4: Blue Chip Matchmaker Leg #2 Mares Pace

(1) SWEET TREASURE gave it an aggressive try last week despite having the far outside post in her first start since last October. 4-year-old now lands the rail and could be a candidate to take these coast-to-coast. (4) LUCKY ARTIST A hasn't done anything wrong in any start over the last few months, including in round one where she came from off the pace and just missed; big threat to take all. (5) GIA'S SURREAL took all the money and set a hot clip but folded last week. Mare has the talent but needs to show vast improvement in a hurry.

Race 5: F&M NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) CHERYLS SHADOW didn't have the best of trips last out as she was forced to grind a long way; Dilloian trainee deserves another chance. (2) BABS JANSEN takes a needed drop in class and draws well; she's one of the most logical in here but has a knack for finishing second and third. (7) ROCKNROLL ANNIE has good early speed and maybe Boyd gives it a shot off the gate at a big price.

Race 6: Blue Chip Matchmaker Leg #2 Mares Pace

(1) RACINE BELL has come up just a touch short in her last two at the hands of Drama Act, who she gets to avoid tonight. Bartlett can secure control early and rate comfortably to get it done. (6) DELITFULCATHERIN N is arguably as good as any in here and she does have proven early speed if Stratton wants to try for the trip behind the top choice. Mare should be a nice price. (5) DOUGS BABE A finished willingly in both her qualifier at The Meadowlands and last week in her North American debut. I have a feeling she'll be an underlay here despite still having something to prove.

Race 7: F&M NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) PROBERT is a quality mare and she finished well in her debut for the Stratton barn. With the class drop and improved post she gets the call. (4) PURE SILKY steps up to face more seasoned foes looking for six straight wins. (5) MILIEU HANOVER also has something to prove but she's got a solid local record with 5 wins in 14 starts at Yonkers over the last two seasons. Qualifier was good.

Race 8: Blue Chip Matchmaker Leg #2 Mares Pace

(3) AMAZING DREAM N figured to be ready for action coming off of three qualifiers and she didn't disappoint with the solid front-end score in round one; Toscano trainee is in a good spot to repeat. (4) DRAMA ACT is a neck shy of a five-race winning streak to start her season and the versatile mare looks like she'll be off the pace tonight, with #1 and #3 sure to be protecting position early. She's good enough to get it done, however. (1) EASY TO PLEASE has been consistent if not spectacular so far this year; last week's race was encouraging.

Race 9: F&M NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace

(6) DRAGONS LUCKY LADY looked like a winner every step of that last race and I'll stay on board with her despite drawing outside. (2) JIVE DANCING A is just a consistent money-making mare and she's been knocking on the door in her last three. (4) MILLWOOD BONNIE N wore down a good rival last week and gets to face more of the same here, as she's in for the claiming tag.

Race 10: $15,000 Claiming Pace

(5) TOATSMYGOATS debuts for the Camilleri barn via claim and stays in for the same price; veteran should have the lead quickly here and can take these the distance. (4) CASHNCAM hasn't won yet this year (like the top choice) but he's been a consistent player in his last few and should find a way to hit the ticket. (8) MAAJAACKKOBE was used too hard last week and wilted badly; he gets Bartlett in the bike tonight with Kakaley going to #5 and can land a piece if able to improve position off the gate.

Race 11: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(2) CONBOYVILLE is still trying to find his stride this season but this may be the best spot he's seen in some time; top billing in the finale. (3) MANY MOONS took money but failed to get involved in his first start for the Gillis barn after shipping in from Canada and adding Lasix; he's back in on consecutive weeks and figures to show more. (5) SANTAFE'S COACH finished well for third in his last two starts at this basement level; Lachance trainee figures to be coming late again.
