2023 MEET STATS: 48 - 134 / $213.40 (-$54.60) BEST BETS: 9 - 13 / $26.50 (+$0.50) Best Bet: MCMARKLE SPARKLE (7th) Spot Play: EDDARD HANOVER (5th) Race 1: F&M NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace (4) DRAGONS LUCKY LADY had some early speed last week and managed to get shuffled and trapped in that five-horse affair while appearing to have some pace. Mare faces a bit softer here and looks to have a big chance if Bartlett can get her in play early. (2) LIT DE ROSE took care of business on the class drop and the Lachance trainee looks to be back in fighting form; barn had a couple of winners the other night. (5) MILLWOOD BONNIE N has been razor-sharp since moving to the Bako barn and she steps up out of claimers looking for five straight overall. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: F&M Open Handicap Pace (1) EASY TO PLEASE was better last week in her second seasonal start, and first on Lasix. Mare lands inside again in another abbreviated yet competitive field filled with Matchmaker hopefuls and when on her game she's as good as any in here. (4) RACINE BELL did it from off the pace in her last start as she too is tuning up for Stakes engagements. Does Bartlett utilize her early speed tonight? (2) DRAMA ACT ran down a game rival (#3 in here) last start and last year's Matchmaker champ is always a major player. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: F&M NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace (3) NORMAN'S MADELINE was game for second after being overtaken by a classier winner last week and despite the bump in class she faces no real standouts; Bartett gets the catch drive with Holland opting to #1. (5) CHERYLS SHADOW graduated from the NW lifetime conditioned ranks with a game uncovered score in her first start off the bench and anything from the Dilloian barn should be respected. (1) DISARONNO HILL finished evenly last out after escaping from the pocket and she gets another crack from the rail. Race 4: $15,000 Claiming Pace (1) BARRYWHITE HANOVER rallied well from last to grab a share in her first start for Garcia-Herrera off the claim, and this barn has been rolling well lately. Top billing starting from the innermost post. (7) TOATSMYGOATS has good early speed and this looks like a decent spot for Kakaley to give it a shot off the gate. (3) FORREST BLU faces lesser here but has zero current form; he's not the easiest type of horse to endorse, especially at a short price. Race 5: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace (1) EDDARD HANOVER has been getting progressively better over his last few starts and appears overdue for a return to the winner's circle; I'll consider if the price is decent, which may be the case as Bartlett opted off for #2. (4) I DRAINTHESWAMP A is one of three horses in here moving up a notch coming off a win and this Erv Miller trainee definitely has some upside. (3) KINGSVILLE put it all together last out with a sharp back half and he's another clear contender in this competitive race. Race 6: $15,000 Claiming Pace (4) MAAJAACKKOBE was fresh off the Bako claim last week and he fired for command and dug in nicely to prevail. Veteran stays at a winning level looking to double up. (3) LETTUCERIPRITA A moves back towards the inside and returns to Bartlett. He's had his erratic moments throughout his career but has been consistent in all recent races and should play a prominent role here. (2) TIDAL SHARK wasn't even functional when we last saw him but it looks like he's gotten things straightened out at Monticello. Bucci trainee can track along with Boyd and land a share. Race 7: F&M NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace (4) MCMARKLE SPARKLE really responded well when asked last week as she blew past a NW10000 field. She's got plenty of class and can easily take another as she tunes up for Matchmaker action. (3) TECHYS ANGEL A should be much more involved with the post relief; Hudson trainee was a winner when last at this level. (6) DARBY HANOVER is a good fit with these but may be coming from last; use underneath. Race 8: $25,000 Claiming Pace (2) SHARK PLAY has been rock-solid in practically every start at this level for the DiDomenico barn and the versatile veteran has a post edge on most of his main rivals. (6) STATEMENT MADE A has been right there in his last handful of starts but has been coming up just a touch short. He'll find the winner's circle eventually, but the road may be difficult with the speed of #5 directly to his inside. (5) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN was used early last week but was forced to tuck fourth and he was unable to muster a second move late in the mile despite live cover. If he's able to make the front or pocket here he'll likely finish in the top three. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: F&M NW20401 in last 5 starts Pace (1) BABS JANSEN hasn't gone a bad effort in ages and is always right around the wire, but also hasn't filled the win column in her last 15 starts. She finds a good spot here, so maybe tonight's the night. (4) ROCKN PHILLY took a lot of tote action last week but never got involved. She drops in class and moves in a couple of spots; Daley trainee should be a big player. (3) NEWSY N has speed and could be near the front so she could land a piece at a price. Race 10: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace (3) DARK ENERGY N basically toured the track last week from post eight with trainer Cory Stratton in the bike. 11-year-old drops to the basement, moves back inside and gets Jordan back driving. Could be a now-or-never spot to get it done. (2) CAVIART SARGENT woke up with a much better effort last start and seems to be trending in the right direction. (6) MAXIMUS RED A took money but was shuffled last start; he should offer some value here if he can hit the ticket.
