2023 MEET STATS: 26 - 60 / $122.50 (+$2.50) BEST BETS: 5 - 6 / $14.40 (+$2.40) Best Bet: UPTOWN HANOVER (8th) Spot Play: AMERICAN WAY (7th) Race 1: $20,000 Claiming Pace (5) ODDS ON DELRAY tapped into some of that back class with the barn change to Devita as he was a powerful winner. Veteran logically steps up bit in price but a similar effort can get it done again. (1) MARTY MONKHOUSER A is as professional as they come and he goes for this third win already as a 14-year-old. He's an obvious threat to take these the distance. (6) MARINER SEELSTER drops in class again looking for a wakeup call and the also 14-year-old does have early speed which could be on display depending what #5 does directly to his inside. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: F&M NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace (2) MAN DONTFORGET ME has good early speed which usually sets her up with a good trip and she was a pocket-sitting second last out when bumping back to this level. With the inside draw the mare has a legit chance. (4) DRAMA ACT begins her 2023 campaign off a winning qualifier and knowing the Burke barn she'll be ready to fire here. (1) VIOLETS RAINBOW gets some class relief and lands inside again but loses Kakaley to an Alexander trainee; Bartlett gets the call. [DRF BETS: Wager on tonight's Yonkers card at DRF Bets.com!] Race 3: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace (4) EXOTIC SAND was turned away after an uncovered bid into the rating frontrunner last week but he did hold for a board spot. I think the Corelli trainee has proven that he can go with this type and he meets a field without much form. (1) BETTOR SUN never got close from the eight hole in his initial local try but he drops to the basement and moves all the way inside. More can be expected. (7) CAN B PERFECT clearly needed last week's start and has a legit chance here despite the poor draw. Race 4: F&M NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace (4) SHEIKH YABOOTY N was racing well here towards the end of last year and she capitalized on alert getaways to set up favorable trips; mare gets the aggressive Holland in the bike and she can be forwardly placed at a price. (6) ROCKN PHILLY appeared to enjoy her time off because she came back from four months on the shelf with a couple of solid outings at The Meadowlands. Classy mare is clearly capable of handling these. (1) ODDS ON NUMBER ONE ships in for Virgil Morgan, Jr and we'll see how the 4-year-old fits in class-wise. Race 5: NW7500 in last 5 starts Pace (4) ROLLING WITH SAM drops in class for the fourth consecutive start and does draw better here. Alexander trainee had a big year at Yonkers in 2022 with six wins. (1) THEFLYINGROCK also drops and gets major post relief after rallying in his last couple from the seven and eight hole. (3) MACINTOSH N quit in his last pari-mutuel race but came right back with a winning qualifier; he's another 14YO on the card with loads of class and a legit chance. Race 6: $25,000 Claiming Pace (8) STATEMENT MADE A debuts for the live Bako barn off the $20K claim, steps up a notch and lands the eight hole but it wouldn't shock me to see Kakaley trying to blast from the gate. Worth a look at his expected good price. (5) SHARK PLAY gets Brennan back and he's proven he can compete at this level. (1) POSH ONTHE BEACH A has been a model of consistency but he goes for a new barn off the claim and gets a new driver as well. Try not to accept too short of a price. Race 7: $20,000 Claiming Pace (6) AMERICAN WAY was claimed away out of his last start from the Lachance barn and he goes to the Daguet stable, which has been solid in this young season. New driver Stratton may try more aggressive tactics than what this gelding has been used to. (2) SHOREVIEW fits with these and gets important post improvement. (1) GOTAFOOLISHDESIRE returns locally and hasn't been bad in recent efforts at The Meadowlands. Race 8: F&M NW30000 in last 5 starts Pace (2) UPTOWN HANOVER came close to catching Delitfulcatherin N two back and gave it a decent speed try last out; Bartlett sticks with the mare and from the good draw she's clearly capable of beating these. (3) LUCKY ARTIST A needs a good trip and she can be right there at a nice price. (1) TRICK OF THE LIGHT was a good earner in the Midwest as a 3YO before coming east to join the Noel Daley barn. She arrives locally off a win at The Big M. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace (1) CHANGE STRIDE N wasn't a serious threat last week but it was an improved effort with the barn change to Berkeley. Veteran can take the next logical step forward tonight. (5) AIR FORCE HANOVER has the feel of an underachiever sometimes but he did earn over $100K last year and just missed last start. (3) CRUNCH HANOVER drops again desperately looking for a wakeup call. Race 10: $15,000 Claiming Pace (5) LETTUCERIPRITA A has been solid since the Blumenfeld claim, and that barn is off to a good start this season. He's no lock but is the deserving favorite in the finale. (2) HUDSEN A was gaining fast last start and just missed; Lachance takes the lines again for owner Jeff Dauplaise. (1) BUNGALOW BILL N figures to be on or near the lead but needs to show more late; Simon Allard is listed to drive and he's had success with this barn.
