Yonkers: Analysis for Friday 10/8

Matt Rose|Oct 06, 2021
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 344 - 1004 / $1,845.00 (-$163.00)

BEST BETS: 46 - 94 / $145.40 (-$42.60)

Best Bet: YANKEE OSBORNE (12th)

Spot Play: RYCROFT N (4th)

Race 1: $12,500 Claiming Pace

(2) HERE COMES SWIFTY hit town last week and had some decent pace at both ends of the mile; he draws well again in this soft and questionable field and Kakaley should be able to work out a live trip. (1) GYPSY LEATHER was in the midst of a nice rally in last when he lost some momentum as the winner pulled in his face but he did continue on for a board spot; Holland will be trying to take him down the road tonight. (3) CINNABAR DRAGON was reclaimed by the Koch barn last week despite just having a mediocre season thus far; he does get needed post relief and will be in the hunt.

Race 2: NW15000 in last 5 Trot

(2) BLUFFINER was taken down the road last week by Smedshammer but just couldn't last, getting nailed late; he departs from a similar spot tonight looking to make amends. (6) BLUE AND BOLD successfully "dropped and popped" last start; he bumps back up a notch but doesn't face that strong of a field. The question is if he can get involved from this post. (4) SWAN BEFORE ALL just missed in a good try in his last local appearance.

Race 3: $15,000 Claiming Pace

(2) IN THE HUDDLE raced well last week in his local return and now the good inside draw makes the veteran a very logical contender. (6) FAST ON THE DRAW bumped to the $20K level off the Dowse claim and he faltered in the late stages at odds-on; he drops back down in class and figures to be sending hard from the gate. (7) MAGRITTE hasn't shown anything recently while descending the claiming ladder but he was taken last out by Camilleri and maybe she can wake him up.

Race 4: $20,000 Claiming Pace

(2) RYCROFT N was stuck with two eight holes after the Adamczyk claim but he managed to rally for fourth both times. Veteran gets major post relief tonight. (3) STARK HANOVER double-bumped off the DiDomenico claim and ran second; he splits the difference here in for $20K and he draws a decent post. (1) RUTHLESS DUDE was a nose shy of going wire-to-wire at 10/1 last week; early speed should be part of the equation again.

Race 5: $20,000 Claiming Pace

(4) MR DS ROCK showed some improvement in his local return but more importantly he was claimed out of that race by DiDomenico. Wouldn't surprise me to see the 4-year-old ready for a top effort. (2) SHOREVIEW saved ground and finished well last week; he's almost always a big player from inside posts. (6) ROCK N BLUE was a surprisingly sharp winner first out for his new barn and we'll see if can repeat that effort tonight.

Race 6: NW5000 in last 5 Pace

(2) BLACKTREE is able to drop to the basement conditioned level off the $20K claim by Jenn Bongiorno and he draws a good post to boot; pretty logical contender. (6) KEPT UNDER WRAPS A also takes a meaningful drop in class and that may be just what the Cory Stratton trainee needs to help turn things around. (1) OURLITTLEGENERAL is a bit on the inconsistent side but one of his better efforts makes him a player.

Race 7: Open Handicap Trot

(8) MISSISSIPPI STORM was a solid uncovered winner last week at odds on and that effort basically banishes him to post eight tonight but he does have early speed in his arsenal and his price should be decent. (6) MELADY'S MONET gets a slightly better post to work with and hopefully will be more involved. (3) NO MAS DRAMA is unproven at this level but she seems good enough to land a share with smooth sailing.

Race 8: 3&4YO $30,000 Claiming Pace

(4) SAILBOAT HANOVER is quite erratic bit if he minds his manners he should be able to handle this group. (8) BOLT OF LUCK didn't fire last week when moved to the rim in a quick third panel but his prior two efforts were solid. (6) FURIOUS BEACH was bottomed from the pocket last out and generally has been tiring in his races; maybe a change in tactics will help him out.

Race 9: NW20000 in last 5 Trot

(2) LEAN HANOVER didn't get involved last week in what was likely a needed start after missing some time; Toscano trainee is a legit Open player when right. (4) GLOBETROTTING was used hard from post eight and gave way by the three quarters last week; count on a smoother trip tonight. (1) MAGICAL JOURNEY and (6) HILLEXOTIC are both coming off nice wins.

Race 10: 3&4YO $50,000 Claiming Pace

(4) FOLLOW YOUR HEART was a nice pocket-sitting winner last week and a similar trip is possible tonight. (6) KEYSTONE DASH blasted down to the road and was an open-lengths winner last start; I suspect the strategy will be the same here. (1) LL MYSTRO has been good in practically every local start and now he goes for Jenn Bongiorno off the claim.

Race 11: NW30000 in last 5 Trot

(5) FASHION CREDITOR was a winner when last at this level and overall he's had a solid season; Siegelman has options from this post, and leaving the gate is always a nice choice, but there is some speed inside with #1 and #3. (3) THE LAST CHAPTER is at his best a level or two down but the potential for a live stalking trip exists here. (8) EYE OFA TIGER AS recently went over the $100K mark this season but the eight hole may slow him down a bit.

Race 12: NW7500 in last 5 Pace

(1) YANKEE OSBORNE was taken for $40K by DiDomenico and goes right back into NW7500 while drawing the rail; logical chalk is the one to beat in the finale. (7) IAMMRBRIGHTSIDE N gets major class relief and must be considered, despite the outside post. (2) SOUTHWIND ONYX rode the pylons to a board spot last week and should be close-up throughout.
