Yonkers: Analysis for Friday 10/13

Matt Rose|Oct 11, 2023
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2023 MEET STATS: 392 - 1109 / $2,065.30 (-$152.70)

BEST BETS: 59 - 103 / $196.80 (-$9.20)

BEST BET: ROSALINE (4th)

SPOT PLAY: LUCKY ARTIST A (7th)

Race 1: NW7500 in last 5 starts Trot

Competitive trot to open the card. (2) B MEDITHREE is not as sharp as he was earlier in the season but he generally has faced better in his local starts and he finds a spot where Brennan can set up shop on the front. (3) BARRY BLACK dropped to the bottom for his last start and dominated. Classy French-bred can handle the rise in class. (5) NO DRAMA PLEASE also needed class relief to get back on track and like #3 he can string multiple efforts together as he moves back up the ladder.

Race 2: NW5000 in last 5 starts Trot

(3) MYCROWNMYKINGDOM put in a steady effort last week to finish third and with the inside two lacking speed I can envision new driver Holland trying to send this gelding to the front. (7) BANK BOX TREASURE has local experience and some moderate success here in the past; Garcia-Herrera trainee has some early speed and will likely be ignored in the wagering. (1) VELVET STYLE took money last week on the dropdown but didn't fire; he can be close up from this spot.

Race 3: F&M NW10000 in last 5 starts Pace

(1) MCMARKLE SPARKLE drops to a new low and really should be able to beat these despite her lack of current form. Not one I'm running to bet at a short price, however. (5) IN THE SPOTLIGHT N has had local success this season and she returns off a couple of decent efforts at Philly. (2) DBLDELITEBRIGADE N has been disappointing this year but she gets major post relief and has early speed.

Race 4: NW6245 in last 5 starts Trot

(2) ROSALINE shipped down from Saratoga to join the Engblom barn, added Lasix and dominated at Freehold. She faces a bit better here but is routine selecting, especially when adding Bartlett to the mix. (3) DOWN THE PIKE MIKE was a winner at Pocono last week and was facing better when we last saw this 4YO. (1) STICK WITH ME KID has speed from the rail and he's also looking for two straight but he loses Bartlett to the top choice.

Race 5: F&M NW20000 in last 5 starts Pace

(6) RACINE BELL is obviously not at her sharpest as she tries to work her way back to top form. She's reunited with Bartlett and is tough to look past at this reduced level. (2) MORNING HAS BROKEN hasn't won in a while but we know the Bako trainee is capable of grinding these down. (1) HEAVENS SHOWGIRL A unwound late and charged home for third last week and now she goes back to Brennan as she moves inside; dangerous.

Race 6: F&M NW15000 in last 5 starts Pace

(5) TECHYS ANGEL A successfully dropped and popped last start at ridiculously low odds and now she steps back up but faces some uncertain speed types. She may be sitting on a live trip. (1) I LOVE ONGAIT has the potential to be the controlling speed here and can take these a long way. (8) OKINAWA BEACH A was a well-backed winner two starts ago but she's behind the eight ball tonight.

Race 7: F&M NW30001 in last 5 starts Pace

(3) LUCKY ARTIST A has tailed off considerably from where she was earlier in the season but she gets a change here to leading driver Bartlett who may wake her up at an honest price. (2) DELITFULCATHERIN N qualified well which may signal that she's ready to return to the racing wars. She's best here if on her game. (4) ROCKN PHILLY has loads of back class and has looked much better recently.

Race 8: NW15000 in last 5 starts Trot

(3) HUNTING AS gets some class relief and a bit better post to work with. Also, Kakaley is back driving. (5) HOOLIE N HECTOR has early speed that should be on display from this spot as he faces significantly softer. (4) KASHA V has been a quality trotter for a few years now for veteran trainer Tom Corelli; board threat.

Race 9: F&M NW5000 in last 5 starts Pace

(4) OURLITTLEMIRACLE was toiling at the $50K claiming level but she woke up in a big way last week when just shy from the pocket. Bako trainee drops again to a now-or-never spot. (3) PARADISE ROCK L faltered in her first start for Engblom after arriving from Ohio and now she's off almost a month after scratching sick. If ready (and that's a big 'if') she can pose the biggest threat to the top one. (7) MAGICAL MISTRESS is able to drop off that $20K claim in her last start and will provide some value from the outside post.
