There will be live racing Wednesday at Aqueduct, an eight-race card that should look familiar to horseplayers as seven of the races were originally carded to be run on Nov. 30. That program was canceled after the first race when the jockeys refused to ride, citing differences with management of the New York Racing Association. Racing went on uninterrupted last week and this five-day week will be followed by a 10-day holiday break. After Sunday’s card, there will be no racing between Dec. 15 and 25. While seven of Wednesday’s eight races are brought back from the canceled card, some of them will have a different look, including the featured second-level allowance/optional $45,000 claiming sprint feature for New York-breds. Man in Finance, the 2-1 morning-line favorite for the originally scheduled 6 1/2-furlong race, did not enter back due to an illness, trainer Danny Gargan said. Also not entered back was longshot Morethanafeeling. :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! DRF Past Performances and Picks are available now. Wednesday, the morning-line favorite is Yo Banana Boy, a 4-year-old gelding who has finished second in three of his last four attempts at this condition for trainer Destin Heath. On Nov. 7, Yo Banana Boy chased a pretty hot early pace while three wide and everything set up for National Identity, the odds-on favorite, to sweep by and win by 1 3/4 lengths. Yo Banana Boy persevered to finish second, 1 1/2 lengths clear of third. Prior to that, Yo Banana Boy finished a clear second to the front-running Bostononian. Ricardo Santana Jr. is named to ride Yo Banana Boy from post 3. Tall Paul is back in New York after making just one start this year in California for Bob Baffert. He finished last in an open-company, first-level allowance at Del Mar. The last time Tall Paul competed on dirt in New York was Sept. 14, 2024 when he recorded a 1 3/4-length, front-running victory over Yo Banana Boy in a first-level New York-bred allowance. Tall Paul has been in New York with trainer John Terranova since early November and will have Flavien Prat aboard from the outside post in the eight-horse field. What’s Up Bro and Factually Correct finished one-two in this condition on Aug. 9 at Saratoga, a day in which Yo Banana Boy finished fourth. Factually Correct has been quite popular at the claim box this year, having been taken six times out of the seven races in which he was offered for a $45,000 claiming tag. He was actually claimed a seventh time out of a third-place finish in September, but that claim was voided by the veterinarian. Factually Correct, who goes out for Fernando Abreu Wednesday, shows five workouts since the voided claim. Master Freud was not among the original entrants for this race but is in on Wednesday. Master Freud, trained by Antonio Arriaga, has made his last seven starts on turf, and is coming off a last-to-first victory in a first-level allowance on Nov. 7. He is 0 for 4 on dirt, but was only beaten a neck on that surface going seven furlongs last December. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
