Up Is Up, Ynot Pout face elders in allowance
The lightly raced 3-year-olds Up Is Up and Ynot Pout face older horses in an allowance race at Los Alamitos on Saturday that could lead to appearances in derby trials later this summer.
Up Is Up, a gelding trained by James Glenn, Jr., drew the outside post in a field of six for his third start of 2020. Up Is Up won a maiden special weight race on April 17 and followed with a head loss when second in an allowance race at 330 yards on May 30 after veering toward the outside at the start.

Jockey Jesus Rios Ayala, who was aboard for the maiden race win, regains the mount after being sidelined earlier this spring with a foot injury.
Friday’s race is the second start of the year for Ynot Put, who was fourth after an incident in the gate before an allowance race at 300 yards on June 5. Ynot Pout was fractious in the gate and then broke to the inside before finishing 1 1/4 lengths behind Fayvorite Chick.
Ynot Pout, trained by Mike Casselman, won her debut at 2 in May 2019. She had trouble at the start in her next three races, including a division of the Governor’s Cup Futurity trials last July. A positive performance on Saturday could lead to a start in the Governor’s Cup Derby trials on July 12. The final is on July 25.
The 3-year-olds Jocko Mo Blue and Look Of Love MV have the inside two post positions.
Casselman trains Jocko Mo Blue, who won a maiden special weight race at 300 yards in his latest outing, in February.
Look Of Love MV, a filly trained by Jose Flores, was beaten a nose in a $25,000 claimer at 300 yards on May 30.
Saturday’s seventh race, a maiden special weight race for 2-year-olds at 300 yards, will be the career debut of Custom Hat, a promising colt by Favorite Cartel trained by John Cooper.
Custom Hat has worked quickly for Saturday’s race, notably a 220-yard work from the gate in 12.4 seconds on June 6.
The race drew a field of seven, including two other first-time starters – Kenny Wayne, trained by Matt Fales, and Mr Big, trained by Monty Arrossa.
The eight-race program at Los Alamitos begins at 9:30 p.m., Eastern, or 6:30 p.m., Pacific. Wagering is available through DRFBets.com.
