Yes Yes Yes posted a minor upset Saturday in Austalia in the Group 1, $9.56 million Everest Stakes, holding off Santa Ana Lane to win the 1,200-meter dash by a half-length at Randwick Racecourse. Trekking finished third, while Redzel, winner of the first two editions of the Everest, was a pace casualty and faded to eighth. The top three home all came from well back, with Yes Yes Yes and jockey Glen Boss getting first run on Santa Ana Lane, who surged in the very late stages but fell short of the winner. Yes Yes Yes was one of only two 3-year-olds in the field, and the other, the Irish shipper Ten Sovereigns, checked in last. Yes Yes Yes got a significant 12-pound weight break from the older horses like Santa Ana Lane and Trekking, who finished a half-length behind Santa Ana Lane to get third. Chris Waller of Winx fame trains Yes Yes Yes, who ran below form finishing seventh over soft ground last season in the Group 1 Golden Slipper but otherwise has been a model of consistency with four wins and two seconds from his other seven starts following his ultra-rich triumph Saturday. Owned by a partnership, Yes Yes Yes is by the Encosta de Lago stallion Rubick and out of the Fantastic Light mare Sin Sin Sin.
