Yes I'm a Beast at the top of his game for allowance sprint
With four wins in his last five starts, Yes I’m a Beast has been living up to his name lately. Once again, he figures to be in the mix from start to finish when he runs in a first-level allowance race on the main track Thursday at Gulfstream Park.
The six-furlong race for 3-year-olds drew six horses and goes as race 6 on an eight-race card that begins at 1:05 p.m. Eastern. There is a $75,000 claiming option available, with Happy Cajun the only horse entered for the price.
As sharp as Yes I’m a Beast has been lately, he will not be a single on many Rainbow 6 tickets, which has a guaranteed pool of $200,000.

Yes I’m a Beast started a three-race winning streak Dec. 24 when he took them all the way in a $20,000 claimer for trainer Jorge Delgado. Acting on behalf of Apple Of Her Eye, trainer William Tharrenos claimed him out of that race, and Yes I’m a Beast won back-to-back $35,000 starter races that carried a $35,000 claiming option on Jan. 12 and Feb. 6.
Trainer Rohan Crichton claimed the Florida-bred son of The Big Beast for the $35,000 on behalf of Daniel L. Walters on Feb. 6. Crichton brought him back in a first-level allowance race where he finished third after setting the pace in the 6 1/2-furlong dash. Three next-out winners came out of that race.
Yes I’m a Beast returned to his winning ways when he took them all the way in a $35,000 starter/optional claimer March 27. With two strong interim works on April 24 and May 2, Crichton appears to have him primed for another strong effort.
Yes I’m a Beast will break from post 3 with Emisael Jaramillo up.
There is other speed in the field, including Paco’s Pico, who was the runner-up to Yes I’m a Beast on March 4 and also is trained by Crichton. The Kentucky-bred son of Candy Ride is coming off a win in a $35,000 starter/optional claimer April 29.
Happy Cajun set fast fractions in his only start and kept rolling to win a $25,000 maiden claimer by 10 1/2 lengths for trainer Crystal Lanum on April 1 at Tampa Bay Downs. He will be making his first start for trainer Michael Yates when he breaks from the inside post with Marco Meneses aboard.
With plenty of potential speed, the shape of the race should work nicely for the Ralph Nicks-trained Felix. The Kentucky-bred son of Cupid showed a lot of promise when he debuted in a maiden special weight race Dec. 11. After hopping at the start, he rallied to finish second behind Dean’s List, who repeated in a first-level allowance race before finishing second in the Grade 3 Gotham at Aqueduct.
Proving the race was no fluke, Felix came from a stalking position going seven furlongs to edge Creative Minister by a neck in his only other start March 5. Creative Minister won his next two races, the latest coming in a first-level allowance race that carried an $80,000 claiming option on Oaks Day at Churchill Downs.
Felix will break from post 5 with Junior Alvarado up.
