X Y Jet targets Dubai Golden Shaheen after majority interest in horse is sold

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Rockingham Ranch has purchased a majority interest in the top sprinter X Y Jet from Gelfenstein Farm, with the goal of sending him to Dubai for the rich Golden Shaheen on March 26, according to Shannon Potter, who brokered the deal for the buyer.
X Y Jet is generally considered one of the premier sprinters in the U.S. after posting one-sided victories in each of his last three starts, including a 9 1/4-length triumph in the Grade 3 Mr. Prospector at Gulfstream Park in his 2015 finale. X Y Jet came right back to capture the Sunshine Millions Sprint by 4 1/4 lengths while making his 2016 debut Jan. 16 and has earned Beyer Speed Figures of 108 and 105 in his last two races.
X Y Jet is stabled with Jorge Navarro at Gulfstream Park West, and Potter said that under the terms of the agreement, he is guaranteed to stay with Navarro at least through the Golden Shaheen. X Y Jet is expected to be the overwhelming favorite Saturday in the Grade 3 Gulfstream Park Sprint Championship in his final prep before departing for Dubai.
“The draw of being able to take this horse over to Dubai for the Golden Shaheen was the key motivation behind making this deal,” said Potter. “X Y Jet is presently considered one of the three top sprinters in this country, and American sprinters usually do quite well going over to Dubai.”
